Douglas Lee Franklin
Date of death: December 16, 2007

Douglas L Franklin, 58, of Mishawaka passed away on Sunday in Hospice House, South Bend.

Doug was born on June 4, 1949 in Florence Alabama as the son of Cleo and Kathleen (White) Franklin. He was preceded in death by his father, a son Troy Michael Franklin, his step mother, V. Ruth Franklin; step brother, Perry Lawson, sister - in - law, Ellie Lawson and his step father, Vernon Hinton and his father - in - law, Robert Walter Jaronik.

On July 31, 1982 in Batesville Arkansas Doug married Sheryl Jaronik. Surviving are his wife Sheryl, son Adam Franklin of Phoenix, AZ, granddaughter, Tiffany; his mother, Kathleen Hinton of Florence AL, mother - in - law Mary Jane Jaronik of Mishawaka; sister - in - law Deborah (Ron) Seagert of Atlanta, GA; brother - in - law Robert (Kim) Jaronik of South Bend and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Doug worked as a Union Painter with Local 1118 (District Council 91) South Bend. He was a Veteran of the United States Army proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War.

A Memorial service will be on Friday, December 21 at 11 a.m. with visitation two hours prior in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with Rev. Barry England officiating.

Morris De Geyter
Date of death: December 18, 2007

Morris G. “Moose” De Geyter Sr., 82, of Mishawaka passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 18, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, to join his beloved Virginia in heaven.

Moose was born on August 31, 1925 in Ruysellede Belgium as the son of Arthur and Helen (Christians) De Geyter. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Mary Van De Walle, Madelyn Rupchok, Clara Newhouse and Margaret Schalliol and two brothers Ray and Joe De Geyter.

On November 13, 1948 in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka he married the love of his life, Virginia Bokhart who preceded him in death on February 11, 2005. Surviving Moose are his 10 children, Cecilia (Dr. Jack) Wehrly Fr. Wayne, IN, Morris (Peggy) De Geyter Jr. of South Bend, IN, Mark (Sheila) De Geyter of Santa Fe, TX, Christine (Jeff) Dunwoody of Niles, MI, Carolyn (Max) Durett of Moncks Corner, SC, Martin (Debbie) De Geyter of Osceola, Mitch (Shelley) De Geyter of Melbourne, FL, Matt (Trisha) De Geyter of Mishawaka, Mary Grace (Rick) Stephens of South Bend, and Michael De Geyter of Mishawaka; 17 grandchildren, Sara, John, Audrey, Brad, Jennifer, Karen, Adam, Olivia, Zach, Angela, Rebecca, Raschelle, Jennifer, Matt, Brandon, Keaton and Christopher; three great grandchildren, Taylor, Zachary and Saxton. Also surviving are three sisters, Martha Rubchok of Mishawaka, Alice Flaugher of Grovertown, IN and Josephine Bradley of El Paso, TX.

Moose was a Detective Lt. for 20 years with the Mishawaka Police Department before he retired in 1970. He also worked at Wheelabrator Frye for 12 years. Moose was a life time area resident. A Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country proudly during WW II. He was a Lifetime member of VFW Post 360 and the BK Club in Mishawaka, and a member of Mishawaka FOP.

Family and friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m., on Friday, December 21st in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., on Sunday, December 22nd in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, where Military rites will be by VFW Post 360 - American Legion Post 161 Burial Squad.

Memorial donations can be made to National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, 911 E. 86th St. Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.

Willie Lee Anderson
Date of death: January 30, 2008

South Bend - Willie Lee Anderson was born on August 20, 1950 in Marked Tree Arkansas. He was raised in Arkansas along with seven other siblings on Marked Tree Farm by his mother Izola Shepherd and his stepfather Robert L. Shepherd Sr. whom both have departed.

Later on, as a young man Willie moved to South Bend, Indiana where worked and lived, He worked at E.T.s for 14 years and Maron Products for 7 years until he departed this life on Wednesday, January 30, 2008.

Willie leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters Leatrice Lasonya Anderson, (fiancé Isaac) and Dominique Anderson both daughters are from South Bend, Indiana. Gregory Dockery, his stepson who he greatly loved departed before him. He leaves behind five grandchildren, Taja, Tierra, Deziara, Paris and Jaden who all reside in South Bend. He also leaves three brothers and four sisters to cherish his memory; John Anderson of South Bend, IN, Shirley Shepherd - Moore of Marked Tree, AR, Elder Robert L Shepherd Jr. and his wife Tamara of Memphis, TN, Lavern Shepherd of Jonsboro, AR, Isaiah Shepherd and his wife Patricia of Jonsboro, AR, Terrie Shepherd of Marian, AR, and Cheri Perry and her husband Dewayne Perry of Little Rock AR.

Of eight siblings Willie is the first to depart this earth.

Willie also leaves behind a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, nieces and nephews. Willie leaves two special friends, Linda Dockery and Doris Rogers and a true friend Paul McMahon of Maron Products and numerous friends who will miss him greatly.

Willie confessed a faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and he held to that faith firmly until the end.

Funeral services will be held at Noon, Saturday, February 2 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with Elder Robert L. Shepherd Jr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN.

Donnabelle L. Anderson
April 22, 1924 – February 1, 2008

SOUTH BEND – Donnabelle L. Anderson, 83 of South Ironwood formerly of Bowman St. South Bend passed away on Friday, February 1, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center South Bend.

On April 22, 1924, in Bremen, IN. Donnabelle was born as the daughter of Alfred and Respa (Bowser) Drudge. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

In September 1942 in Bremen, as the former Donnabelle Drudge she married Beecher L. Anderson who preceded her in death on September 17, 1994. Surviving Donnabelle are two sisters Dorlyn (Pete) Stebbins of Mishawaka and Mary E. Troxel of Bremen, and many nieces and nephews.

Donnabelle was employed by South Bend Credit Bureau for Forty - Five years be for her retirement.

Friends and family may call on Monday, February 4th in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5thin Hahn Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Davidson Pastor of Coalbush United Church Mishawaka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Granger.

Contributions in memory of Donnabelle can be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.

Jennifer Bishop
Date of death: February 02, 2008

Jennifer “Jeni” Lynn Bishop, 34 of South Bend passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 2 in Tinley Park, Illinois.

Jeni was born on January 29, 1974 in Pittsburgh, PA to Alan and Pamela (Horvath) Van Huffel.

Jeni married Brian K. Bishop on July 26, 1997 at St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Surviving Jeni are her loving husband Brian, and her three children, Jacob Olin 7, Jocelyn (Joci) Elizabeth 5, and Alan John (A. J.) 6 mo. She is also survived by her parents Alan and Pamela Van Huffel of South Bend; her sister, Michele (Steve) Talos of South Bend and niece, Morgan 12 and nephews Blake 15 and Mason 8; her brother Mark (Kimberly) Van Huffel of Indianapolis and nieces Courtney 8, Claudia 6, and Erin 3.

Jennifer’s in - laws, Jerry and Nancy Bishop of LaPorte, and her brother - in - law is Adam (Emily) Bishop and nephew Noah 3 of Aurora, CO.

Jeni was a 1992 Marian High School graduate where she was known for her basketball and softball skills. She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1996. She had been employed by Memorial Hospital since 1995, her most recent assignment in the ICU. Her fellow nurses describe her as a compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, and efficient nurse. She was most proud of her recent promotion to charge nurse and the added responsibility it brought.

Jennifer was a loving, caring, wife, mother, sister, and daughter. She brought joy to her children and family. Her children were her life. They are bright, inquisitive, happy children due greatly to their wonderful mother.

Jeni loved spending time at the family cottage on Birch Lake in Michigan and was there with her family most summer weekends. She also enjoyed vacationing with the Bishops at the Orlando attractions, escaping the February cold. Jeni often was involved with her children, nieces, and nephews at various school and athletic functions, helping out and cheering them on. Jeni will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We love you Jen!

Visitation to celebrate Jeni’s life will be on Thursday, February 7 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka from 2 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 8 in St. Matthew Cathedral, South Bend with Father Michael Heintz officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Bishop Children’s Education Fund C/O First Source Bank.

Paul Joseph Hums
Date of death: February 04, 2008

MISHAWAKA – Paul Joseph Hums, 47, passed away at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL

Paul was born on April 26, 1960 in Mishawaka to John and Marie (Ludwig) Hums. He was preceded in death by his mother Marie Hums and two brothers Robert Hums and Richard Hums.

On August 2, 1980 in Little Flower Catholic Church, South Bend, Paul married Judith Marie Ciesielski. Surviving are his wife Judy, sisters and brothers Charles (Deborah) Hums of Granger, Mark (Janice) Hums of Montgomery, IL, Teresa (Jack) Desatnick of Chillicothe, IL and Anne (Kevin) Housemeyer of South Bend; a sister - in - law, Thyresa Hums of Dowagiac, MI. Many nieces and nephews, Scott Hums, Kyle Hums, Amy (Jacob) Fenolia, Brian Desatnick, Andrea Desatnick and Christopher Hums. Also surviving are his mother - in - law Evelyn Ciesielski, his brother - in - law Christopher Carpenter and his niece and nephew Gabriella Carpenter and Dylan Warner, a special cousin Ken (Diane) Bueche and special friends, Danny Raab, Tracy & Frank McDaniel, Linda Constant, Beth Lee, Carol Burgess, Dawn Case, Norm & Gerry McKillip, Pat Schafer, Tony Coleman and Brandon Patton. Also surviving is his beloved pet and companion, his black lab “Hallie.”

Paul was a 1978 graduate of Clay High School and graduated from IUSB in 1991 with a BS degree in General Studies. Paul was planning to become an elementary school teacher, but he lost his sight during his last semester of college. He worked as a credit manager at Sears. At Lafayette Elementary School, Paul coached boys and girls basketball, cross country and track. He also coached baseball at Riley High School.

Throughout his life Paul courageously dealt with many health adversities. These included diabetes, heart disease, blindness and cancer. He never complained about his difficulties and always looked on the bright side of life. He was a positive example to every person he met. Even though Paul could not see with his eyes, he could see the goodness in others with his heart.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, February 8th from 2 to 8 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka where the rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 9th in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Dan Scheidt officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
