Janet L. VanHoose
Janet L. VanHoose, 59, of 41 Noble St., Wabash, IN, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, IN. She was born Jan. 29, 1943 at Johnson County, KY to Ollie and Walena (Murray) Clay. She married William VanHoose in Johnson County, KY on July 20, 1963; he died Nov. 3, 1991.
She was a graduate of Oil Springs High School, Kentucky, in 1961. She was a longtime employee for United Technology in Wabash, and was a resident of Wabash the past 35 years.
Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Thomas (Johanna VanHoose) Dinse of Indianapolis; brothers Douglas Clay of Lagro and Gary Clay of Kentucky; a sister, Regina Clay of Johnson County, KY.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel, Wabash, IN with Rev. David A. Dell officiating. Burial took place in the Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery located at Somerset, IN.

Wayne B. Adams
Wayne Bernell Adams, 89, of 1167 Falls Ave., Wabash, IN died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 at his residence. He was born Sept. 22, 1913 at Huntington County to Ora and Faye (Patten) Adams. He married Deloris Bates in Huntington Dec. 15, 1934; she died Sept. 9, 2001. He was retired from Honeywell, Inc. after 40 years.
He was an associate member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Wabash Moose Lodge, former member of the Wabash Eagles Lodge, and a member of the Tunesmiths Quartet. After the quartet, he formed his own bands. He was an avid fisherman, an artist, and worked for The Paper.
He is survived by two sons and wives (Douglas E. (Cheryl) Adams of Wabash, and Gregory L.(Sue) Adams of Huntington; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 1, 2002 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel with Father Sextus Don officiating. Burial was in Falls Cemetery of Wabash.

Mary Ellen Hartman
Mary Ellen Hartman, 81, of rural Huntington, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 at the Heritage of Huntington. Mrs. Hartman was born Sept. 5, 1921 in Casstown, OH, a daughter of Homer B. and Mary Effie (Butterbaugh) Weddle. She married Paul Hartman on Nov. 23, 1946 in Liberty Mills, IN.
Mrs. Hartman was a homemaker and also worked over her lifetime at Schacht Rubber Co. and the Smith Furniture Store in Huntington. She was a member of the Huntington Church of the Brethren where she served as a life-long deaconess. She was a 1939 graduate of Chester Township High School in North Manchester, IN.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; daughters Mrs. Sam (Marilyn) Hyde of Fort Wayne, Mrs. William (Carol) Donnelly and Mrs. Edward (Nancy) Smith, both of Huntington; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Hyde, and two brothers and a sister.
Funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 1, at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN with Pastor Ken Rieman officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in North Manchester.

Eva Jackson
Eva Jackson, 78, of 3814 Maplecrest Rd., Ft. Wayne, IN, and formerly of North Manchester, IN, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 at the home of a son at 12930 N. Bonestead Rd., Silver Lake, IN. She was born Dec. 17, 1923 at Floyd County, KY to Johnie and Mary (Brown) Hackworth. She married Henry Jackson Dec. 8, 1937, and he preceded her in death April 3, 2000.
She was a homemaker and employee with the former Bryan Manufacturing Co., North Manchester.
Surviving sons include Dallas (Patty) Jackson of Coesse, IN, Richard Jackson of and Steve (Linda) Jackson, both of North Manchester, and Ron (Carole) Jackson of Ft. Wayne; a sister Tressie Buron, Carey, OH; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death y her husband, Henry; two sons, Doug in 1998 and Dennis in 2001; a grandson and a great-great grandson.
Funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 1, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, No. Manchester Chapel with Rev. Chad Burkhart officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
Lathen M. Cook
Services for Lathen Michael Cook, 14 months, infant son of Matthew and Briann (Denton) Cook, were held Thursday morning, Oct. 31, 2002 at Bachelor Creek Church of Christ, Roann, IN with Pastor Mike Duggan officiating. Cheryl Eaton presided at the organ, and Michael Eaton served as song leader.
Burial was in Roann Community Cemetery, Roann, IN, and pallbearers were Brandon Denton, Jeremy Denton, Ryan Cook, and Michael Cook. Arrangements were by DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel.
Leora Neely
Services for Leora Neely, 93, rural Silver Lake, IN, were held Saturday morning, Nov. 9, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel. Rev. Etsie Allen officiated and vocalists were Etsie and Missy Allen. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, with pallbearers James Gallagher, Joel Gallagher, Mike Howard, David Howard, Michael Dungan, and Gordon Belles as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Dungan and Samuel Dungan.
Geneva Wire
Services for Geneva Wire, 86, of Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center, were held Wednesday evening, Nov. 20, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary No. Manchester Chapel with Pastor William Garver officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Etna Cemetery, Mt. Etna, IN. Arrangements were by DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel.
Ermajean Yohe
Ermajean Yohe, 77, of 470 W. Main St., Wabash, IN died Monday, Nov. 18,. 2002 at Wabash Skilled Care Center. She was born August 5, 1925 at Nappanee, IN to George W. and Arta (Miller) Hollar. She was a homemaker married to Elden Yohe on March 17, 1946 at Nappanee, IN.
She was a 1943 graduate of Nappanee High School and attended Manchester College one year. Mrs. Yohe was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Wabash.
She is survived by her husband Elden; three sons Lynn (Sharon), Daniel (Theresa), and Timothy (Deborah)Yohe, all of Wabash; and a daughter Mrs. Dr. Philip (Marilee) Ferguson of Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. Bernice Fox of Goshen; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A son preceded her in death.
Memorial service was held Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at McDonald Funeral Home, Eddingfield Chapel of Wabash. Private burial will be held at a later date. Rev. Phyllis Carter and Rev. Mark Day officiated.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial is to Wabash Co. Hospital Oncoloogy Dept., Wabash Skilled Care, of Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Paul D. Koerner
Paul David "Butch" Koerner, 64, of 105 W SR 124, Wabash, IN, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. He was born May 30, 1938 at Mount Vernon, IN to Alvin and Pauline (Reicken) Koerner. He married Christine Bever in Wabash on Sept. 19, 1959.
He was a 1957 graduate of Wabash High School and was a Technical Sergeant Morse Code instructor at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS 20 years, retiring in 1981. He worked at Bulldog Battery, Wabash, since 1985. He was a member of the Wabash American Legion Post 15, and a member of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association.
Survivors include his wife, Christine, of Wabash; sons Gary (Donna) and Mark (Holly) Koerner, all of Wabash; a sister, Mrs. Buddy (Joann) Hettmansperger of Wabash; grandchildren Spencer, Sara, Cassie, and Megan Koerner, all of Wabash, IN.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial was in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, located at Marion, IN.

Thomas F. Gebhart
Thomas Franklin Gebhart, 64, of 10246N 700 W. Lukens Lake, Roann, IN, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, at his residence. He was born Dec. 24, 1937 at Fort Wayne, IN to Gerald and Rosalee (Huston) Gebhart. He married the former Janet "Jan" Naugle on March 11, 1978. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He spent his career in the recycled metal business, working as Vice President of Schupan & Sons in Kalamazoo, MI, and most recently as owner and President of Metal Source, LLC of Wabash.
He is survived by his mother, Rosalee Gebhart of Fort Wayne; his wife Janet of Roann; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Susan) Mattern of Roann; sons Michael Gebhart of Monterey, CA and Benjamin Gebhart of Roann; a grandson Max Mattern and granddaughter Sydney Mattern, both of Roann; a brother Gerald (Karen) Gebhart of Fort Wayne and sister, Mrs. Michael (Sharon) Messinger of Reading, MI.

Joseph F. Griffith
Joseph F. Griffith, 79, of 45 N Bluegill Rd., Silver Lake, IN, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, IN. He was born May 14, 1923 at Cambria, IL to Ambrose and Libby (Waldron) Griffith. He married Ramona J. Steward on Nov. 29, 1943, and had retired in 1980 from City Service Bulk Plant of Lowell, MI as a pump mechanic.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, and held memberships in he North Manchester Moose Lodge and Laketon American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona; two daughters - Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Bremer of Silver Lake, IN and Mrs. Robert (Susan) Yakes of Cottonwood, AZ; a brother, Leonard Griffith of Red Bluff, CA, and a sister Evelyn Goins of Carbondale, IL; two grandchildren - Mrs. Jeff (Jennifer) Nordman of North Manchester and Robert J. (Michelle) Bremer of Silver Lake; and four great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Richard Iseton officiating. Preferred memorials are to the Laketon American Legion.
Burl Ward
Burl Ward, 80, of 534E CR 200N, Paoli, IN, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at his residence. He was born at Johnson County, KY to Rev. John E. and Corda (Bridgeman) Ward. He married Opal Clay in 1945 and she died Aug. 12, 1960. He then married Helen L. Lane on August 30, 1973 in Clinton, VA; she died April 5, 1986.
He was a farmer, worked for Wabash Alloys for six years, and was a member of the Erie Street Freewill Baptist Church of Wabash. He lived in Paoli the past six years, coming from Wabash where he had lived 30 years. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include two daughters - Mary Eads of Paoli and Mrs. Larry (Shirley) Hatton of Spencer, IN; a son Robert A. (Pam) Ward of Ellettsville, IN; three sisters - Mrs. Russell (Nellie) Smith of Wabash, Corda May Pack of North Webster, and Mrs. Randall (Daisy May) Daniels of Randle, WA; three brothers - Estel Ward and Emmanuel Ward, both of Wabash, and Elzie (Eulie) Ward of Logan, WV; 13 grandchildren. 19 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A brother and a granddaughter preceded him in death.
