Jerome E. Tipple
Jerome Edward Tipple, 68, of 1570 Florence St., Wabash, IN died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at his residence. He was born June 11, 1934 at North Star, OH to Harold and Mary (Hartzell) Tipple. He was raised by his grandparents Henry and Ethel Hartzell.
He married Margie McGough, who survives, along with six sons - LaMont (Anne) Tipple of Kendallville, Lane Tipple and Lyle (Kara) Tipple both of Greenville, OH, Landell ( Lisa) Tipple of Wabash, Todd (Krissa) Schindler of Lagro, and Dr. Trent (Jennifer) Tipple of Columbus, OH; daughters Mrs. Ray (Vanessa) Emerson of Greenville, OH and Mrs. Steve (Valorie) Clouse of Atlanta, GA; two brothers - Budd (Patsy) Tipple and Darl (Deanna) Tipple, both of Arcanum OH; and 12 grandchildren.

Mary Caroline Pratt
Mary Caroline Pratt, 92, a resident of Community Care Center, Wabash, IN, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 17, 2003 at the Care Center. She was born July 19, 1910 at Wabash to Loy and Edna Mae (Millican) Lewis. She married Walter Burl Pratt on March 13, 1937 at Huntington, IN; he died Oct. 28, 1985.
She was a 1928 graduate of Polk Township High School, Huntington County. She was a lifetime resident of Wabash County, living in North Manchester before coming to the Community Care Center. She was a homemaker and was organist for 38 years at the Manchester Bible Church where she was a member.
Survivors include three sons - Kenneth (Ann) R. Pratt of North Manchester, Vernon (Maxine) Pratt of Wabash, and Herbert D. Pratt of Princeton, WV; two daughters - Mrs. Max (Marilyn) Benson of Princeton, WV and Mrs. Gerritt (Janice) Brakkee of Henderson, NV; a brother, L. Edward Lewis of Lagro; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen, Manchester Avenue Chapel. A private family service will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Laketon Cemetery, Laketon, IN with Max Benson officiating. Burial will be in Laketon Cemetery.

Elizabeth "Bette" Harner
Elizabeth "Bette" Harner, 89, of 1606 Westchester Dr., North Manchester, IN, died Saturday, February 15, 2003 at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. She was born Dec. 28, 1913 at Bicknell, IN to Carl and Margaret (Acker) Troder. She married William M. "Pete" Harner on Sept. 24, 1938 and he survives.
She had been employed with NeuMode in Saginaw, MI for 14 years and the Saginaw Community Schools for eight years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Warsaw, IN, and Psi Iota Xi Sorority of North Manchester.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Walter Paul Troder of Bryan, OH; and sisters Ann Lambert of North Manchester and Elena Powell of Solsberry, IN.
Friends may call Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003 at the mortuary with Pastor J. P. Freeman officiating. Entombment will be at Roselawn Cemetery, Saginaw, MI.

Beulah Irene Couch
Beulah Irene Couch, 94, a resident of Wabash Skilled Care Center, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 at the Care Center. She was born March 22, 1908 in Wabash County, IN to George and Mary (Miller) Flora. She married Paul Couch in LaGrange, IN on April 30, 1941; he died July 9, 1985.
She was a member of the Roann Christian Church, and the Golden Girls. She was a 1928 graduate of Laketon High School and 1931 graduate of Lutheran Hospital Nursing School in Fort Wayne. Beulah was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Hospital Alumni Association. She was a registered nurse for 52 years. She worked at the Wabash County Hospital, Family Physicians, and for three generations of Drs. LaSalles in Wabash and Roann. She bought a fibulator for the Wabash County Hospital and helped pave the drives at the Roann Community Cemetery.
She is survived by nieces Mrs. Marvin ( Marilyn) Robbins of Lafayette, IN and Mrs. Robert (Joan) Michel of North Manchester; and a nephew Bruce Flora of Toney, AL. A brother Charles L. Flora and a sister Ethel M. Poer preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, and burial will take place in Roann Community Cemetery. Max D. Eakright
Max D. Eakright, 70, a resident of North Manchester, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 14, 2003 at his home. He had been in failing health for the past six weeks. He was born Sept. 2, 1932 in Whitley County, Indiana, a son of Emery H. and Hazel ( Waybright) Eakright. He completed his education at South Whitley School.
On Dec. 25, 1952 he was united in marriage to Susanna Cordill. Since 1958 they have made their home on Third Street in North Manchester. He was employed at Farm Bureau Co-op in North Manchester for more than 10 years, and Woodcraft in North Manchester for 23 years.
A stock car racer, he participated at Warsaw Motor Speedway, Andrews Motor Speedway, Bunker Hill Motor Speedway and Kokomo Motor Speedway.
He is survived by his wife, Susanna; two sons, DeWayne D. (Ethel) Eakright of North Manchester and Rick ( Debra) Eakright of Laketon; two daughters, Deborah Pakis of Akron and Mrs. John (Cindy) Burke of Wabash; 17 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Garnet Martin of Brookville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild; three brothers, Omar Eakright, Robert Eakright and Ronald Eakright; and two sisters, Velma Cookman and Alice Shinn.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003 at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley with Rev. Jonathan Damon, pastor of South Whitley First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the family.
Ellen Laura Bashore
Ellen Laura Bashore, 79, of 607 N. Market Street, North Manchester, IN, died February 13, 2003 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, IN. She was born January 6, 1924, at Hinkley, MN to Neal R. and Ruth L. (Gysbers) Merritt. She married Ray E. Bashore on Feb. 12, 1949, and he survives.
She was retired from Peabody Retirement Community in 1986 after 15 years. Prior to Peabody Retirement Community, she worked at Bryan Manufacturing and Heckman Bindery, both in North Manchester.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons - James L. (Vicki) Bashore of North Manchester and Neal K. (Mary) Bashore of Long Lake, MN; a daughter, Beverly A. Bashore, North Manchester; five grandchildren - Nick Bashore of Long Lake, MN, Kelly Brooks of Warsaw, and Kim Skeens, Adam Bashore and Tammy Egolf, all of North Manchester; and five great-grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death.
Graveside service was held Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, with Pastor J. P. Freeman officiating. Preferred memorials are to the American Lung Association.
Roger Lee Hale
Roger Lee Hale, 30, of 308 Whispering Lane, South Whitley, IN, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003 at St. Elizabeth Hospital of Youngstown, OH. He was born May 14, 1972 a Warsaw, IN to Basel Hale and Evalee (Muffins) Hale, both of rural Pierceton, IN. He graduated from Whitko High School in 1991 and attended Indiana University-South Bend studying mechanical engineering and also attended Ivy Tech State College of Ft. Wayne. He was employed as a construction worker with Hale Construction, Inc.
He is survived by his parents, his fiancé, Dennise Daniels of South Whitley, IN; a son, Andrew M. Hale and a daughter Kayla E. Hale, both of Fulton, IN; brothers Forest Hale and Basel J. Hale, both of South Whitley, IN.
Funeral service was held Saturday, February 15, 2003 at the Free United Baptist Church, of Packerton, IN with Rev. Ward Etsie Allen, Rev. James Rowe, and Rev. Willie Collins officiating. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery of Pierceton, IN.

David L. Michael
David L. Michael, 61. of 9 EMS C19B Warsaw, IN (Chapman Lake),. and formerly of Sidney, IN, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at his residence. He was born Oct. 17, 1941 t Warsaw, IN to Harold J. of Warsaw and the late Pansy D. (Plant), Michael.
He was a 1960 graduate of Sidney, IN High School. He was an avid pilot for 25 years, and a member of Experimental Aircraft Association of Warsaw. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a missile mechanic. He was employed as a gold miner.
Survivors include his father, Harold J. of Warsaw; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Barbara A.) Anderson of Fairbanks, Alaska; and sisters Mrs. William (Kathy) Greider of Cromwell, IN and Mrs. Rick (Betsy) Zellers of Silver Lake, IN.

Dorotha P. Zinsmeister
Dorotha "Dot" P. Zinsmeister, 89, of rural Huntington, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003 at Norwood Nursing Center, Huntington.
Mrs. Zintsmeister was born to Elmer H. and Ina Mae (MacFarland) Gilbert in Wabash County on April 3, 1913. She was a 1931 graduate of Chester Township High School, Wabash County, and a graduate of Manchester College. Mrs. Zinsmeister received a Master's Degree from St. Francis College in Ft. Wayne. She married Joseph "Eldon" Zinsmeister on June 19, 1935 in Huntington County. Mrs. Zinsmeister was employed with the Huntington County Community School system until her retirement from Central Elementary School in 1978 where she had taught since 1955.
Mrs. Zinsmeister was a member of Central Christian Church of Huntington. She belonged to the Rebekah Lodge (Bippus), Kappa Sigma Tau Sorority of Huntington, Warren Township Home Extension Club, and was a Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star Floral Chapter #75 (Huntington).
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Joseph "Eldon" Zinsmeister of Huntington; a son, Carl G. (Susan) Zinsmeister of Huntington; three daughters - Mrs. Robert (Joan) Young of Pensacola, FL, Nancy Sutton of Gibson City, IL, and Mrs. Tony (Mary Ellen) Scheiber of Huntington; a brother, Edward Gilbert of North Manchester; two sisters - Mrs. Rev. Orlo (Josephine Hively) Hibbs of Columbia City and Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Balsbaugh of Denver, IN; 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, James Edward Zinsmeister, a daughter Ethel Marie Steffen; a brother Arthur Gilbert, three sisters - Ethel Hyde, Louise Gilbert, and Madline Walls; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Cameron Douglas and Dr. Sam Young officiating. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church Building Fund, c/o Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Dr., Huntington, IN 46750.
William C. Stainaker
William C. Stainaker, 72, of Indianapolis, died Jan. 11, 2003. He owned and operated two businesses, an Auto Dealership and Oil & Gas Company in Clarksburg, WV. He was an army veteran of the Korean War.,
He is survived by his wife, Crystal Knauff Stalnaker, two daughters; Mrs. Cecil (Cyndie) Ray of Winfield, WV, and Mrs. Robert (Susan) Baker of Tampa, FL; two stepsons, Scott (Kelly) Snyder and Nick (Margaret) Snyder; eight grandchildren; five sisters, Aleyne Elliott, Reva Kelly and Ruth Hall of Ripley, WV, Ellen Smith of Lebanon, OH and June Hill of Beverly, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy F. and Ada C. Stalnaker and a brother, Corby C. Stalnaker.
Funeral service was conducted Feb. 13, 2003 at Flanner Buchanan Funeral Center-Broad Ripple, Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Scoliosis. Burial will take place at a later date.
Winifred J. Warren
Winifred J. Warren, 84, a resident of Timbercrest Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, IN. She was born June 10, 1918 in Wabash County, IN to Virgil and Hattie C. (Rickert) Hanley.
She was a member of the North Manchester United Methodist Church. She worked for several years as a teller for the Indiana Lawrence Bank, North Manchester. She enjoyed camping and horseback riding; she also loved flowers.
She is survived by two sisters - Mrs. Max ( Marietta) Howard of Silver Lake, and Mrs. Bob (Eunice) Butterbaugh of North Manchester. Two sisters, Portia Mathieu and Annabelle Hanley preceded her in death.
Funeral service was held Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Timbercrest Chapel with Pastor Christen Miller officiating. Entombment took place in Memorial Lawns Cemetery.
