Jeffrey D. Layton
Jeffrey D. Layton, 36, of 95 Walnut St., Wabash, IN died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998 at Wabash Healthcare Center of Wabash. He was born Sept. 8, 1962 in Wabash, IN to Larry Layton and Betty Bashore Temple.
Mr. Layton was an auto salesman at Thomas Ford of Wabash.
He is survived by his father and mother, both of Wabash; a son, Clay Jeffrey Flanagan of Wabash; sisters Angie Suddarth and Kris Shidler, both of Wabash; paternal grandmother, Annabelle Layton of Wabash and maternal grandmother, Freida Bashore also of Wabash.
Friends may call today (Tuesday, Dec. 22) at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998 at 3:00 p.m. at the Manchester Ave. Chapel located at 1177 Manchester Ave., Wabash, with Rev. Tim Prater officiating. Burial will take place in the Falls Cemetery of Wabash, IN.
Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Cancer Society.
John H. Keim
John H. Keim, 70, of 301 Kosher Ave., North Manchester, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998 at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. He was born May 17, 1928 at Chicago, IL to Dr. C. Ray and Annie (Keim) Keim. He married Mamie A. Smith June 10, 1951, and she survives.
John was a member of First Brethren Church of North Manchester. He graduated from Central High School in 1946 and from Manchester College in 1950. He received his Masters Degree from Indiana University in 1953. He had been a teacher and administrator for 23 years, and a driver for American International Drive Away and Morgan Drive Away for 12 years. He was a life member of the National Education Association, member of Indiana Teachers Association and former member of Lions International.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons - Charles R. Keim of North Manchester, William E. Keim of San Antonio, TX and Wallace E. Keim of The Woodlands, TX; and a daughter Janis A. Keim of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren and one step grandchild and one step great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral service was held Monday morning, Dec. 21, 1998, at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary. The Revs. Marlin McCann, Raymon Eller and Woodrow Immel officiated.
Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Preferred memorials are to the First Brethren Church or Manchester College.
Jeremy R. Cole
Jeremy Ryan Cole, 23, of 1233S 800W, Wabash, IN, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998 at Parkview Memorial Hospital of Fort Wayne. He was born June 24, 1975 at Wabash to Michael and Jane (Wilson) Cole.
Jeremy was a 1994 graduate of Northfield High School, a member of the Richvalley United Methodist Church, and attended Vincennes University. He worked at Ford Meter Box Co. in Wabash.
Survivors include his parents of Wabash; a brother, Troy Cole of Wabash; a sister, Michelle Brickley of Kokomo; and grandparents Gene and Eleanor Wilson and Charles and Olive Snyder, all of Wabash; and four nephews.
Funeral service was held this morning (Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998) at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Mowery officiating. Burial was in Memorial Lawns Cemetery of Wabash.
Preferred memorials are to Richvalley United Methodist Church.
Marilyn Beam
Marilyn Beam, 65, of 950 Manchester Ave., Wabash, IN died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998 at Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, IN. She was born Dec. 30, 1932 at South Bend, IN to Walter and Pauline (Ball) Mendenhall. She was first wed to John Waggoner Feb. 18, 1950; she later married Edward E. Beam May 26, 1972 and he died April 8, 1990.
She was a retired physician's assistant to Dr. Robert LaSalle after 30 years service. She was a member of Town and Country Home Ec Club, Wabash Lady Elks, Wabash American Legion Auxiliary. She was a certified nurses' assistant at Timbercrest Retirement Community in North Manchester. She was a volunteer at Wabash County Hospital, and for many years she lived in Roann.
Survivors include a daughter, Paula Stephens of Somerset, IN; a son, Keith Waggoner of Kingston, TN; daughters Lottie Waggoner of Wabash, Donna Myers of Roann, and Judy Beam of Fort Wayne; three brothers, Walter Mendenhall of Boulder, CO, Phillip Mendenhall of LaFontaine, IN and Ralph Mendenhall of Van Wert, OH; two sisters - Donna McCarthy of Muncie, IN and Charlene Owen of Paradise, CA; a friend, James Stefanatos of Wabash; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral was held Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998 at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel located in Roann, IN, with Rev. Paul Horine officiating. Burial was in Roann Community Cemetery.
Preferred memorial is to the Oncology Department of Wabash County Hospital.
Grace Wright
Grace Wright, 89, a resident of Peabody Retirement Community since 1983, died at Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, IN Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. She was born Nov. 9, 1909 at North Manchester to Marion and Elizabeth (Houser) Wright.
Miss Wright was a charter member of the North Manchester Missionary Church. She was a lifetime resident of North Manchester. She worked for the lawyer, Don Mote, for several years; served as church secretary for several years; and worked as the secretary for Indiana Lawrence Bank in North Manchester from 1963 until her retirement in 1974.
She is survived by a niece, Betty Hamlin, of North Manchester and a great nephew, Michael Monahan of Fairborn, OH. Two brothers, a half brother and a sister preceded her in death.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. at the North Manchester Missionary Church with the Rev. Dan Binkley officiating. Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery, located at Servia, IN.
Preferred memorials are to the North Manchester Missionary Church. Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Freida I. Stackhouse
Freida I. Stackhouse, 81, of 718 N. Mill St., North Manchester, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999 at Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, IN. She was born Jan. 27, 1918 in Whitley County, IN to Shirley and Lydia (Wendel) Kreider. She married Lloyd D. Stackhouse Oct. 26, 1935 and he preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1982.
A homemaker, she was also a member of the Women of the Moose, Legion Auxiliary, Eagles, and V.F.W. Auxiliary, all of North Manchester.
She is survived by three sons - Jim Stackhouse of North Manchester, Steve Stackhouse of Pratt, KS, and Larry Stackhouse of Bozeman, Montana; a daughter, Mrs. Randy (Debra) Cripe of North Manchester; a brother, Robert Kreider of North Manchester; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother.
Private graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, IN. Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Cancer Society.

Milburn D. Spacy
Milburn D. Spacy, 87, of 311 N. Market St., North Manchester, IN, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, IN. He was born April 9, 1911 at Bippus, IN to Clifford R. and Ethel (Ruch) Spacy. He married Violet M. Miner Nov. 21, 1938 and she survives.
Mr. Spacy had been chief pit mechanic for the Arnolt Racing Team and retired from S. H. Arnolt Corp.-Solex Division at Warsaw, IN. After retirement he restored antique gas engines and drove escort for Pierceton Trucking Company. He was a member of Tri-State Engine & Tractor Association for 32 years. He was also a member of the Eel River Ramblers Motorcycle Club.
An avid bowler, he was a 60-year resident of North Manchester, and is survived by his wife, Violet; son, Michael Spacy of North Manchester; a brother, Vernon Spacy of Tucson, AZ; and three grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary with Pastor Jeffrey Freeman officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

James E. Cash
James Emmitt Cash, 71, of 74 E. Main St., Wabash, IN died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999 at his residence. He was born Oct. 14, 1927 in Jefferson County, KY to John A. and Mary Ann (Coleman) Cash.
James was a veteran of the Army Air Corps. He worked at Celotex in Lagro for nine years.
He is survived by a son, Bobby Cash of Lagro, IN; sisters Rose Bedics of Wabash and Kathleen Brooks of Brazil, IN; three daughters and five grandchildren. A son preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Main St. Chapel with Rev. Tim Prater officiating. Burial was in Memorial Lawns Cemetery of Wabash.
Helen M. Mendenhall
Helen Margurite Mendenhall, 77, of 4537 S. Old SR 15, Wabash, IN, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999 at 415 E. Hugo St., Yoakum, TX. She was born Oct. 8, 1921 in Wabash County, IN to Oliver R. and Mary (Hodson) Brown. She married Jack Julian Mendenhall in Wabash on March 29, 1941; he died Sept. 1, 1997.
She was a 50-year member of the Wabash Friends Church, the Wabash Chapter of the Pythian Sisters, and was an avid mushroom hunter. She was also a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters - Mrs. Dennis (Judy) Kramer of Wabash; Mrs. William (Connie) Kruse of Yoakum, TX, and Jerry Mendenhall of Fort Wayne, IN.; three sisters - Mrs. Eugene (Elizabeth) Shaffer of Huntington, IN, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Bever of Wabash, IN, and Mrs. Ray (Nora) Fearnow of Columbia City, IN; a brother, Orville Brown of Bluffton, IN; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One brother preceded her in death.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Main St. Chapel, Wabash, IN with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial was in Friends Cemetery, located at Wabash, IN.
Preferred memorials are to the American Lung Association. Arrangements were in charge of Grandstaff-Hentgen Main St. Funeral Service.
Everett R. Brandenburg
Everett R. Brandenburg, 82, a resident of Timbercrest Retire-ment Community, North Manchester, IN, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center. He was born Aug. 15, 1914 in Kosciusko County to William E. and Julia (Fultz) Brandenburg, both de-ceased.
Mr. Brandenburg was a lifelong North Manchester area resident. He married Ruth Helen Keppler in North Manchester on April 3, 1937. She passed away Jan. 20, 1991. Mr. Brandenburg had worked at the North Manchester Foundry for approx-imately 40 years and had retired. He was a member of the Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John (Laurale) Kreps of Wabash; a son, Ron Brandenburg of Oak Ridge, TN; a sister, Elta (Kreider) Pyle of South Whitley; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren. A brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997 at Bender Chapel, Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, with the Rev. Mark Flora-Swick officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Ceme-tery.
Noles E. Wolfe
Noles Eugene (Gene) Wolfe, 67, of 202 Arthur, Sidney, IN died at his residence Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997. He was born Sept. 15, 1929 at Warsaw, IN to Noles and Gladys (Grindle) Wolfe. He married Beulah Gregory Nov. 22, 1963 in Pierceton, IN. He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, and was re-tired from Warsaw Plating Works, Warsaw, IN. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah; two daughters - Angela Speicher, Knapp Lake, IN and Kris Van Curen of Pierceton, IN; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were held to-day (Wednesday), Feb. 19, 1997 at McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, IN with Pas-tor William Whitaker officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Ceme-tery, Pierceton. where the Pierceton American Legion held military graveside services.
Dr. James E. Flohr
Funeral services were held for Dr. James (Jim) E Flohr on Sunday, February 16, 1997 at Eagle Creek Foursquare Church; interment was at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Boring, OR. He died in a Clackamas Hospital on Feb. 13, 1997; he was 78 years of age.
He was born Feb. 18, 1918 in Wabash, Indiana to Ivan and Edythe Flohr. He received his primary education in Indiana and graduated from Akron High School in 1936. He moved to Tacoma, WA in 1940 and went to work for a furniture factory. Be-fore moving back to Indiana in 1942, he married Jeanne Rager Feb. 25, 1942 in Sumner, WA. He continued to work winters in Tacoma. He farmed in Indiana until 1962 at which time they moved to California. He went to work for Bartel Lumber Co. as a partner.
He started training for the ministry in 1963, and was ordained at Pacific College in South Fresno. He served on the Board of Directors of the Fresno Rescue; he also served four years with International Union Gospel Missions Inc. He served 20 years with the San Diego Rescue Mission and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Evangelical Christian Seminary. He was a member of the Eagle Creek Foursquare Church and served as pastor to the seniors. He was also a mem-ber of the Estacada Chamber. He enjoyed people and counsel-ing.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne of Boring; two sons, Kerry L. Flohr of Eagle Creek, and Kim M. Flohr of Billings, Montana; six grandchildren and one great grandson.
The family suggests preferred memorials be made to Eagle Creek Foursquare Church youth and children's ministries.
