Kenneth W. Ege
Kenneth Wayne Ege, 61, of Rt. 1, Roann (Gilead 1400N. Miami Co.) died June 3, 1996 at Wabash Health Care Facility where he was a patient for four days, following an illness. He was born June 27, 1934 at Gilead, IN to Charles Matthew and Marie Lola (King) Ege, and he remained in the Gilead community his entire life.
He married Rosemary Jane Boggess Sept. 21, 1952. He was a farmer and self-employed carpenter.
He attended Gilead United Methodist Church, Manitou, and was a member of Moose Lodge #1107 Rochester, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Forresters.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; three daughters - Mrs. Kevin (Sheila) Fitzpatrick of North Manchester, Mrs. David (Sharon) E. Pararo of Orlando, FL, and Sandra E. Ege of Warsaw; a son, Leland P. (and Pam) Ege of Akron, IN; his mother, Mrs. Marie L. Coon of Wabash; a half brother, Dennis Ege of Nyona Lake, IN and a half sister, Marie Irene Heron of Kokomo; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Foster & Good Funeral Home, Inc. of Akron Wednesday, June 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Thursday, June 6, through the hour of service which will be held at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Lawrence See will officiate and burial will be in Gilead Cemetery, Gilead, IN.
Preferred memorials are to Wabash County Hospital Oncology Dept.

Christine K. Lester
Christine Kay Lester, 53, of 7222 Rollindale Dr., Fort Wayne, IN died Saturday, June 1, 1996 at Parkview Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 17, 1942 to John E. and Hima (Neher) Weber. She married John Paul Lester, served as a licensed practical nurse at Courtland Health & Rehab Center for more than 20 years.
She is survived by her husband, John Paul; a daughter, Jennifer E. and sons Gary P. and Andrew B., all of Fort Wayne; her mother, Hima Weber of North Manchester; sisters Susan Rinehart of Dunnellon, FL, Ann Porter of South Whitley; a brother James Weber of Indianapolis; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon, June 5, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with the Rev. Frank Baldwin officiating. Burial was in Lindenwood Cemetery of Fort Wayne.
Preferred memorials are to United Scleroderma Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 399, Watsonville, CA 95077-0399.

William S. Transue
William S. Transue, 71, of 3557E 800N, N. Manchester, died Sunday, June 2, at his home. He was born at Lamar, PA Oct. 6, 1924 to Claude E. and Rose (Niehart) Transue, both deceased.
Retired from Denney Motor Sales of Wabash, after 30 years service, he was first married to Lavern Rager Feb. 16, 1945, and she died July 2, 1982; he then married Nicy Wagner Nov. 13, 1982 and she survives.
Other survivors include stepsons Jack Wagner of North Manchester and Duane Wagner of Sidney; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Dale (Betty) Williams of Lake Station, IN, Mrs. Kenneth (Diane) Hoover and Mrs. Lamoine (Patricia) Thomas, both of North Manchester; a brother Melvin H. Transue of Lamar, PA; 12 step grandchildren, and 16 step great-grandchildren. Two sisters preceded him in death.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, Wabash.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 8, at 3:00 p.m. at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Floyd Wiley officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to funeral service. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Cancer Society or Kingdom Hall.

Edward Kramer Sr.
Edward J. Kramer Sr., 61, of 1957E SR 24 Lot 8, Wabash, IN died Monday, June 3, 1996 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born May 25, 1935 at Philadelphia, PA to Elwood and Mary E. (Gilhuely) Kramer. He married Elizabeth Mary Brown March 17, 1957, in Elkton MD and she survives.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Philadelphia. He graduated from Northeast High School, Philadelphia in 1953. At that time he was All-Public and All Scholastic in football. He played semi-pro football with the Venango Bears in Philadelphia. He coached young people in football, basketball, baseball and soccer, and worked with handicapped individuals. He was employed at R.R. Donnelly and Sons in Warsaw. He came to the Wabash area in December 1985 from Pennsylvania.
In addition to his wife, other survivors include sons Michael of Seal Beach, CA, Thomas of Croydon, PA and Edward Jr. of Bensalem, PA; daughters Debra Whitaker of Lagro, Elizabeth Monroe of Wabash and Kathy Sundling of Huntington; a brother, Richard Kramer of Philadelphia, PA; and 22 grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call Thursday, June 6, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Manchester Ave. Chapel Grandstaff-Hentgen, 1177 Manchester Ave., Wabash. Funeral services will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church Friday, June 7, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Tim Wrozek officiating. Wake service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Preferred memorial is to St. Bernard Catholic Church.

Selma M. McNeil
Selma M. McNeil, 89, of Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, died Tuesday, May 28, 1996 at Peabody Healthcare Center. She was born Feb. 11, 1907 at Stanley, WI to James and Rose (Teckmeyer) Timlin. A homemaker, she was married to Charles R. McNeil May 15, 1931 and he died April 16, 1989.
Survivors include a son, Martin J. McNeil of 270 N. Cass St., Wabash; a brother, Millard Timlin of Stanley, WI, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
There were no services, but preferred memorials may be made to the Peabody Caring Circle, c/o Peabody Retirement Community. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Doreta E. Gearhart
Doreta E. Jennings Gearhart, 91, a resident of Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, died June 2, 1996 at Peabody Retirement Community. She was born Oct. 24, 1904 at Frenchtown, PA to Joseph and Lena (DeMaison) Jennings.
She married Ray Gearhart Oct. 12, 1940 in Newport, KY; he died Sept. 22, 1991. She had worked for Viscoes Comp[any in Meadville, PA, was a member of St. Robert's Catholic Church Church of North Manch-ester, and the Rosary Sodality of the church. She lived most of her life in Wabash County.
She is survived by a stepson, Fred Gearhart of Markle, IN; four step grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) June 5, 1996 at Bender Chapel Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, with Fr. Robert Hammond officiating. Rosary services were held Tuesday evening at the Funeral Home. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Bender Chapel Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Viola N. Whitehead
Viola N. Whitehead, 96, a resident of Timbercrest Retirement Community, North Manchester, died June 1, 1996 at Wabash County Hospital.
She was born Jan. 18, 1900 in Wabash County to Levi M. and Bertha (Miller) Neher. She married Glen C. Whitehead Nov. 24, 1920 and he preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1990.
She was a 1917 graduate of Warsaw High School, earned the B.S. degree from Manchester College in 1926, and got her Master's Degree from Columbia University, New York. Formerly of Warsaw, IN, she taught school at Atwood High and North Webster High for 20 years.
Mrs. Whitehead was an author, poet, and had many published essays; she was a charter member of the Tuesday Afternoon Home Extension Club of Warsaw; was a member of Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the North Webster Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include a brother, Dr. Lauren M. Neher of Sun City, AZ; also nieces and nephews.Three brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday), June 5, at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with the Rev. Paul Shrider and Dr. William Eberly officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
Preferred memorials are to Crestwood Wing at Timbercrest Retirement Community. DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

William Parmerlee
William H. Parmerlee, 71, of 1107 N. Sycamore St., North Manchester, died at his home Sunday, June 2, 1996. He was born Aug. 19, 1924 at Hartford City, IN to Simon Earl and Doris (Vredingburg) Parmerlee, both deceased. He was retired from Manchester Foundry, and was married to Wilma J. Kinzie Nov. 5, 1946; she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Ronald A. Parmerlee of North Manchester; daughters Mrs. Larry (Rita) Miller of Howe, IN and Mrs. Larry (Randi) Tobias of North Manchester; a half brother, Don Messenger of Conshohocken, PA; a step sister, Betty Probst of Dowagiac, MI; nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, June 4, at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Revs. Kurt Stout and Marlin McCann officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Preferred memorials are to Wabash-Miami County Hospice or the Wabash County Cancer Society. DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Chester Howard
Chester Howard, 87, of 8528S 100W, Claypool, IN died June 2, 1996 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born at Royalton, KY Aug. 7, 1908 to Kendall and Mary (Allen) Howard, both deceased.
A retired farmer and former employee of Gatke Co., Warsaw, he married Jonie England in 1927 and she preceded him in death Nov. 17, 1949.
He was a member of the Free United Baptist Church, Packerton, IN.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence Howard of Claypool; a daughter, Mrs. Buretia Clark of Lake Worth, FL; brothers Beecher Howard of Royalton, KY and Hargus Howard of Silver Lake, IN; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchilden. One son, two brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held today (Wednesday) June 5, at the Free United Baptist Church of Packerton with the Revs. James Rowe and Willie Collins officiating. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery of Silver Lake.

Clarence M. Neher
Dr. Clarence M. Neher, 80, Baton Rouge, LA, a retired Ethyl Corp. senior vice president, died Wednesday, May 29, 1996 at his residence. He was born at Twin Falls, Idaho in 1916, the son of Samuel S. and Emma (Fike) Neher. He graduated from Purdue University with a master's in 1939 and doctorate in 1941.
Dr. Neher joined Ethyl Corp. in 1941 and had 22 patents credited to his name for the corporation. In 1992, he was named a "Golden C" award recipient by the Commercial Development Association of Washington, D.C. A member of the board of directors at Ethyl, he also served in numerous officer posts in the Manufacturing Chemists Associa-tion and Society of the Plastics In-dustry. He was a member of Baton Rouge Rotary Club and served on the International Youth Exchange Committee.
He founded a Boy Scout troop while a member at University United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen B. Neher; two sons, David M. of Baton Rouge and James of Venice, FL; two daughters, Mary Janet Guglielmo of Opelousas, LA and Dr. Nancy D. Grinton of Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Royal Neher of Boise, Idaho; sister, Mrs. Art (Mildred) Shull of North Manchester.
Funeral service was held Friday, May 31, 1996 at the University United Methodist Church, Rev. Ken W. Irby and Rev. Kenneth Carroll officiating. Pallbearers were grand-sons Macallynn Achee Jr., David M. Neher Jr., Dr. Steve Shull, Dr. William Patrick, James Guglielmo, Lee White, John Neher Grinton and Jim Campbell.
Preferred memorials are to University United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 3350 Dalrymple Dr., Baton Rouge, 70802, or your favorite charity. Arrangements were by Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge, LA.

Glen Blanton
Glen Blanton, 83, of 1491W 900S, Claypool, died Tuesday, June 4, 1996 at Prairie View Health Care Center, Warsaw. IN. He was born Nov. 21, 1912 in Johnson County, KY top Arch and Thaney (Baits) Blanton.
A resident of Claypool for ten years, he was a general laborer, married to Virginia Blanton, who preceded him in death May 15, 1965.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Blanton of Claypool and Paul Blanton of North Manchester;a daughter, Carma Bailey of Salyersville, KY; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ben (Barbara) Whittaker of Silver Lake; sisters Mrs. Goble Hammond of Buckingham, WA and Mrs. Charlotte Ratcliff of Mansfield, OH; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers, two daughters, and a great-grandson.
Friends may call Thursday, June 6, from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Funeral service will be held Friday, June 7, 10 a.m. at Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw with the Rev. Chad Burkhart officiating. Burial will be in Old Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1386, Warsaw, IN 46581.
