Loretta Sturtsman
Loretta Beatrice Sturtsman, 73, died August 8, 1996 at Pensacola, FL. She was born Oct. 21, 1922; she married Lewis Andrew Sturtsman February, 1937 and he died Jan-uary, 1995.
Survivors include sons Bob Sturtsman of Greentown, IN, Bill Sturtsman of Pensacola, FL, and Jim Sturtsman of North Manchester; daughters Irene Tyner of Indianapolis, IN and Susie Ulrey of Huntington, IN. One infant son pre-ceded her in death.
She was a member of the North Manchester Women of the Moose.
Private funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 19, and preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Cancer Society.

Priscilla A. Greene
Priscilla A. Green, 60, of Seymour, IN, died Saturday, August 17, 1996 at Community Care Center, Seymour, IN, where she had been ill since November, 1995. She was born May 30, 1936 at Logansport, IN to Robert Duncle and Helen L. (Harrell) Smith. She married James Greene Sept. 27, 1981 at Seymour; he died Nov. 9, 1989.
A homemaker, who lived most of her life in the Seymour area, is sur-vived by four children - Steve Acton of Seymour, Robert Acton of Lex-ington, IN; Gary Acton of Norman, IN; and Douglas Acton of Palm Beach, FL; and 11 grandchildren; also four brothers, William of Michigan, Kenneth, Richard and Van Hoover, all of North Manch-ester; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Diana) Steele of North Manch-ester, and Mrs. William (Judith) Day of Brownstown, IN.
Memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Seymour Saturday, Aug. 24, 1996 with the Rev. Bruce Cochran officiating. There is no visitation; Mrs. Greene will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oncology Department at Jackson County Hospital, Seymour, may be made. Arrangements are made by Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Inc., of Brownstown, IN.

S. Quentin Tackitt
S. Quentin Tackitt, 58, a resident of Huntington, IN, died Friday in the Hospice Home of Northeast In-diana, Fort Wayne, where he had been a patient for the past four weeks.
He was born Oct. 23, 1937 in Wales, KY, a son of Robert and Mellie Little Tackitt. His formative years were spent in the South Whit-ley area where he graduated from high school in 1957. After complet-ing high school, he received a busi-ness degree from the International Business College in Fort Wayne.
He was first employed by the Franklin Finance Company of Hunt-ington, then served two years in the U.S. Army. After his discharge from military service, he worked for the Model Engineering Company in Huntington. Mr. Tackitt retired as plant manager of United Technologies Automotive Products Co. in North Manchester in 1989 with 25 years service.
He was united in marriage June 27,1959 to Barbara Bolinger and they made their first home in Hunt-ington, following a brief stay in Chicago, they resided in N. Manchester until October 1995 when they returned to Huntington. He was a member of the N. Manch-ester American Legion Post and Optimist Club. He also helped coach girls' softball for several years.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Kelly Tackitt of Indianapolis and Tracy Tackitt of Huntington; two grand-children, Kyle and Kala Tackitt; his mother Mellie Tackitt, now a pa-tient at Community Care Center in Huntington; four brothers, Maurice of Lakeland, FL, Benjamin of Hunt-ington, Larry of South Whitley and Danny of Bradenton, FL. His father and two brothers, Charles and Freddie, preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 19 in Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley with the Rev. Tom A. Curry, pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Andrews, officiating. Burial was in South Whitley Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made to St. Paul's Church of Christ in Andrews or the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.

Stanley Miser
Stanley Miser, 68, of 681 Washington St., Wabash, IN died Aug. 13, 1996 at Wabash Healthcare Center, Wabash. He was born Feb. 5, 1928 at Valley City, N.D. to Chester and Helen (Griffin) Miser. He married Ruth Rickard Aug. 25, 1953 in Indi-anapolis, IN, and she survives.
He was a resident of Wabash, IN for most of his life. He owned Stan's Barber Shop on Canal St. for many years until moving his barber shop to his home. He also owned Miser's Nursery Service. He played the guitar as a hobby and also played in a band. He was an Army Veteran and he served in the Korean War for more than a year. He was in the Pioneer & Ammunition Platoon which swept the mine fields. He re-ceived three bronze stars while in Korea.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Mark, of Silver Lake; three daughters, Mrs. Tyler (Deborah) Bergfeld of Tulsa, OK, Mrs. Mike (Connie) Eis of Wabash, Mrs. Jeff (Julie) Rice of Fort Wayne; a half brother, Jack Miser of Sparta, MI; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 16, at Manchester Ave. Chapel Grandstaff-Hentgen, Wabash, with Pastor Max White officiating. Burial was in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.

Edna May Scott
Edna May Scott, 81, of 1477 Middle St., Wabash, IN, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998 at 1571 Cramer Rd., Andrew, IN. She was born Feb. 17, 1917 at Luka, MS to Arthur J. and Mary Elizabeth (Hensen) Houston.
She married Minos Scott in Collinwood, TN on July 29, 1939 and he died July 4, 1984. She retired from Wagners, Inc., Wabash, in 1973, and was a member of the Wabash Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters - Mary E. Kersey of Wabash and Mrs. Doug (Barbara) Chopson of Andrews; a son, Hubert Boyd Scott of Louisville, TN; three brothers - Buck Whitehead of Collinwood, TN, Aaron Whitehead of Fairmount, IN, and Arthur Houston, Jr. of Bradenton, FL; two sisters, Mrs. Terry (Bonnie) Parrett of Wabash and Pauline Ryan of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Three brothers preceded her in death.
Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 2 to 8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen, Manchester Ave., Chapel Wabash, and one hour prior to service at the Wabash Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at the church, 1056 Erie St., Wabash, with the Pastor Tom Cross officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery of Wabash.
Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.

Robert J. Risser
Robert J. Risser, 84, a resident of Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, and a former Wabash, IN resident, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998 at Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, IN. He was born Aug. 3, 1813 to Clarence H. and Clara (Hipskind) Risser. He married Ruth E. Myers August 17., 1933 and she survives.
Mr. Risser graduated from Huntington High School in 1932. He was a retired tool and die maker for United Technologies of Peru, IN. He attended St. Bernard's Catholic Church of Wabash.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons - Robert L. Risser of Hoffman Estates, IL and James A. Risser of Dayton, OH; a daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Carole A.) Miller of Lady Lake, FL; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash, IN with Rev. Robert Schmeiser officiating.
Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Heart Fund, c/o DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, which was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Margarette I. Reber
Margarette I. Reber, 84, of CR 200E, North Manchester, died Thursday, July 30, 1998 at Timbercrest Retirement Community in North Manchester, IN. She was born Dec. 14, 1913 to Charles R. and Cora Thorne Ervin in Grant County, Indiana. She married Mark Andrew Reber in Huntington County, Indiana Dec. 11, 1937, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1994.
Mrs. Reber was an elementary school teacher for 27 years at Huntington County Community Schools, retiring in 1979. She was a 1931 graduate of Banquo High School, a 1933 graduate of Manchester College with a normal degree, and a 1963 graduate of Huntington College with a Bachelor of Science degree.
She was a member of Markle Church of the Brethren, member of Huntington County Retired Teachers Association, a member of Miriam Rebekah Lodge #37 of Andrews, a member of Jolly Rebekah Club, Salvation Army Auxiliary, a volunteer at Markle Health Care Center, a member of Rock Creek Home Ec Club, and a member of Timbercrest Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, James A. Reber of Huntington; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Jane) Hite of Huntington; five grandchildren, four great granddaughters; and one brother, James Ervin of Los Altos, CA. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Ervin and Robert Ervin.
A Rebekah memorial was held at the funeral home Saturday, and funeral service was held Sunday at Myers Funeral Home Markle, of 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, IN, with Rev. Joan Deeter and Rev. Jim Yaussy Albright officiating. Burial was in Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington County, IN.
Preferred memorials are to Markle Church of the Brethren, 500 W. Logan St., Markle, IN 46770, or to Salvation Army, 1424 E. Market St., Huntington, IN 46750. Myers Funeral Home Markle was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothea M. Schetzsle
Dorthea M. Schetzsle, 96, of 604 Renaker St., LaFontaine, IN, died Thursday, July 30, 1998 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center of LaFontaine. She was born Mar. 1, 1902 at Wabash, IN to William and Mable (Edwards) Young. She married Ralph Schetzsle in 1922 and he died June 20, 1969.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and Gold Star Mothers. She was a linotype operator and worked for the Wabash Plain Dealer and Hamer Printing, retiring from Hamers in 1967. She then moved to the Clearwater, FL area and lived there for 20 years.
Survivors include sons Carlos (Corky) Schetzsle of Summitville, IN and John (Carol) Schetzsle of Wabash; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; a step granddaughter, and a step great grandson. A son, James was killed in World War II; and two sisters, a brother, a half sister and a half brother preceded her in death.
A memorial mass will be held at a later date at St. Bernard Catholic Church.

Albert F. Slagal
Albert Fred Slagal, 79, of 6238E 500S, Wabash, IN died Thursday, July 30, 1998 at his home. He was born Aug. 9, 1918 at Huntington, IN to Charles T. and Clara (Martin) Slagal. He married Mary Waggoner in Roann, IN on June 21, 1941.
Mr. Slagal was retired from the General Tire & Rubber Co. of Wabash. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corp, and a member of the Wabash American Legion Post 15.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Wabash; a son, Charles A. Slagal of Lagro; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Phyllis) Hayes of Wabash; a sister, Mrs. Herman (Betty Ann) Beamer of Orlando, FL; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998 at the funeral home in charge of arrangements, Grandstaff-Hentgen Main St. Chapel, Wabash, IN and Rev. Dean Atkins officiated. Burial was in Center Grove Cemetery of Wabash.

Sharon L. Knechel
Sharon L. Knechel, 41, of 520 S. Maple, McPherson, KS 67460, was killed Monday, Sept. 8, 1997 in a one-car accident on a sand road located six miles north and one and one-half miles west of the intersection of U.S. 56 and the Rice County Line, KS. She was born Feb. 29, 1956 at Gettysburg, PA to Robert W. and Martha J. (Jacoby) Knechel. She married Kenneth Queen on Nov. 20, 1983 in Bridgewater, VA.
She was formerly Vice Preesident of Student Services at McPherson College (on administrative leave). She formerly resided in Minneapolis, MN. She was a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren, American Psychology Association, was Past Moderator of the Western Plains District of the Church of the Brethren, past President of Harrisburg, VA Mediation Center.
She is survived by her husband, at home; her mother, Martha J. Knechel of North Manchester, a sister, Ruthann Johansen of Granger, IN, and brothers Bob Knechel of McPherson, KS and Dave Knechel of Allendale, NJ, and four nieces and three nephews.
Friends will be received at Friendship Hall on the campus of McPherson College from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 1997 at the Church of the Brethren with Dr. Don Booz officiating. The body will be cremated following the service.
Preferred donations are to McPherson College. Ball & Son Funeral Home of 205 N. Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460 is in charge of arrangements.

John H. Fricke
John H. Fricke, 33, of 109 N. Line St., South Whitley, died Monday, Sept. 8, at his home. He was born Feb. 25, 1964 in Whitley County to Norman Fricke Sr. of Phillips, WI and Janine Dorthy Zanda of Florida.
He was an engineer at Flare Machine, Ft. Wayne. He was a 1982 graduate of Whitko High School. He married Kelli Rager April 15, 1995.
Survivors include his wife, brothers Harold Fricke of Mentone and Norman Fricke Jr. of Grifton, N.C., a sister Charlene Roderick St. Gabriel, Louisiana.
Friends may call at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, Thursday, Sept. 11 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 12, 1997 at 10 a.m. at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary with Rev. Junior Rose of-ficiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery, Whitley County.

Reuben Whitaker Jr.
Reuben Whitaker Jr., 63, of 3100 Frontage Rd., Warsaw, IN, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997 at his residence. He was born Sept. 21, 1933 in Floyd County, KY to Reuben and Velia L. (Jenkins) Whitaker, Sr., both deceased. He married Beverly VanDyke Oct. 14, 1982 and she survives.
He was former owner of the Mobile Service Station of Warsaw. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict, and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County.
In addition to his wife he is survived by sons James, Timothy, and Thomas Whitaker, all of Las Vegas, NV; a step son Jeff VanDyke of Warsaw; daughters Mrs. Steven (Joyce) Farmer of Warsaw, Florence Whitaker of Flagstaff, AZ, Mrs. John (Frances) Glen, Mrs. Anthony (June) Soliz, Patricia Davis, and Donna Whitaker, all of Las Vegas, NV; brothers Grover Whitaker of Pierceton, Ben Whitaker of Silver Lake, Paul Whitaker of Ellajay, GA, and Charles Whitaker of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters Mrs. Smith (Fanny) Helton of Sidney, Nancy Konkle of Warsaw, Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Anderson of Troutman, NC, Mrs. Herbert (Hazel) Bragg of Statesville, NC, and Mrs. Gene (Bethel) Packett of Leesburg, FL; 32 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. One son, two brothers, a sister, and a great-grandchild preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 8 at First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, with Pastor Tim Harris officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
