June Marie Calloway
June Marie Calloway, 71, of 829E 100N, Wabash, IN, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002 at her residence, one month after she was diagnosed with cancer. She was born Jan. 15, 1931 at Jamesville, NC to Elmer and Queenie (Martin) Modlin. She married Jay R. Calloway in Norfolk, VA on May 2, 1951. She worked at White's Residential and Family Services as a secretary in the Social Department 33 years, retiring in 1996.
She was a member of the Wabash Church of the Brethren and served on several committees at the church. She was a member of the Women's Clubhouse Association, and was a volunteer for Quail Unlimited, and the Blood Bank.
Survivors include her husband, Jay, of Wabash; a son, Jay R. Calloway, Jr. of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Keith (Penny) Hipskind of Greensburg, IN; a grandson, Kelly T. Hipskind of Greensburg and granddaughters Mrs. Tim (Brigette) Douglas of Lafayette, Katelyn Hipskind and Kara Hipskind, both of Greensburg; a great grandson, Brady Douglas of Lafayette; brothers Elmer Modlin of Spain and Ken (Theresa) Modlin of Jamesville, NC; and sisters Doris Manning of Plymouth, NC and Mrs. John (Nell) Bowen of Olathe, KS. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be at Wabash Church of the Brethren, 645 Bond St., Wabash, IN on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Kado Petry, John Kreps, and Kay Gaier officiating. Entombment will take place in Memorial Lawns Cemetery of Wabash. Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Violet Juanita Huston
Violet Juanita Huston, 87, of Ossian, IN, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002 at Ossian Healthcare, Ossian, IN. She was born Apr. 20, 1914 at Edgerton, IN to Frank and May (Pattee) Burke. She married Haydren E. Huston in Wabash on Nov. 1, 1930. He died Oct. 20, 1990. She retired from Controls in North Manchester in 1962.
She was a member of the Wabash Church of the Nazarene. She lived most of her life in Wabash; she had lived in Ossian since October 2000 and Decatur, IN from 1991-2000.
She is survived by a daughter, Juanita Thomas of Fort Wayne; a son, Ronald Huston of Arizona; a sister, Mrs. Leon (Betty) Lengel of Wabash; a half sister, Leann McIntosh of Decatur; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Two daughters, two sons, six brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Friends may call at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash on Thursday, Feb. 21, from 2 to 8 p.m.. Funeral service will be held at that funeral chapel Friday, Feb. 22, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Gregory B. Fox officiating. Geneva M. Dyson
Geneva M. Dyson, 92, of 6651N 400W, Roann, IN, died at her residence Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002. She was born March 9, 1909 at Grant County, IN to Lestie and Mary (Davis) Stansberry. She married Earl Dyson in Wabash County on November 27, 1926; he died July 24, 2001.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Roann Church of the Brethren, but attended the New Life Baptist Church in Wabash and South Pleasant United Methodist Church in Wabash County.
Survivors include three sons - Keith (Marilyn) Dyson and John (Joann) Dyson, all of Wabash, and Donald (Gayle) Dyson of Roann; a daughter, Mrs. Rex (Nancy) Vigar of Roann; two sisters - Mrs. Wallace (Lillian) Eberhart of South Whitley and Mrs. Floyd (Uvah) Creamer of Warsaw, IN; 23 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Two daughters, a son, a grandson and a brother preceded her in death.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen, Roann Chapel in Roann. Funeral services will be held at the Roann Chapel with Pastor Steven Parks and Rev. John M. Whitcraft officiating. Burial will be in the Roann Community Cemetery, located at Roann.

Winifred Bernice Maish
Winifred Bernice Maish, 90, of Roann, IN, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002 at Millers Merry Manor-East, Wabash, IN. She was born Nov. 19, 1911 at Kokomo, IN to Cecil and Mable (Hadley) Nolte. She married James W. Maish in Kokomo, IN on June 9, 1934; he died May 3, 1985. She retired from Wabash County Hospital, where she worked as a nurse's aid.
She was a member of the Roann United Methodist Church, and lived in Roann since 1946, coming from Wabash.
She is survived by two sons - Richard E. Maish of Anderson, and Ronald E. Maish of Fort Wayne; granddaughters Mrs. Bryan (Carol) Niksch of South Chicago Heights, IL and Karen Maish of Winter Park, FL; and a grandson, Jeffrey Maish of Muncie, IN. Two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa Rd., Roann, with Pastor Robert Armstrong officiating. Burial will take place in the Falls Cemetery of Wabash.

Louis LeRoy Pegg
Louis LeRoy Pegg, 83, of 210 Washington St., Wabash, IN died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002 at his residence. He was born Nov. 12, 1918 at Wabash, IN to John and Vera (Berry) Pegg. He married Claribel Akers in Andrews, IN on Dec. 16, 1944.
He worked at Fisher Body of Marion, IN for 23 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Lagro American Legion and the Marion Sympathy Club at Fisher Body. He was an avid fisherman, mushroom hunter and a World War II Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Claribel of Wabash; four daughters - Karen Smith, Mrs. Don (Jacqueline) Vigar, and Mrs. Guy (Cindy) Coleman, all of Wabash and Mrs. Lester (Debra) Kidwell of Somerset, IN; a brother, Rev. Gilbert Pegg of Fairmount, IN; 15 grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and seven step great-grandchildren. A son, a great granddaughter, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Grandstaff-Hentgen, Manchester Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be held there Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Parks officiating. Burial will take place in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, located at Marion, IN.

Kent Alan Sutton
Kent Alan Sutton, 40, of 1089 Indian Hills Dr., Wabash, IN, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 at his residence. He was born at Muncie, IN Aug. 21, 1961 to Richard D. and Lois (Romine) Sutton.
Kent was a member of Wabash Kiwanis Club, and Wabash Personnel Association. He was a former Tennis Pro at the Indianapolis Racquet Club. He was currently working at Snavely Machine Manufacturing in Wabash; he had worked there six years.
He was active in Wabash Community Service Softball League as well as North Manchester and Peru Softball leagues. He was a 1980 graduate of Wabash High School, and attended Butler University for three years. He was a member of Greyhounds Companions.
He is survived by his parents, Richard D. and Lois Sutton of Wabash, and a sister Mrs. Jim (Jodi) Morgan of Indianapolis.
Funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 18, 2002 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Main Street Chapel, 86 E. Main St., Wabash, with Paul Cushman officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery located at Pleasant Lake, IN.
Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.

Walter E. Jones
Walter E. Jones, 59, of 2700 N. Washington St., Kokomo, IN, formerly of Wabash, IN, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002 at his residence. He was born Dec. 17,. 1942 at Gas City, IN to Walter E. and Betty Jane (Dunn) Jones, both deceased. He was formerly employed at Wabash Valley Landfill, Wabash, IN.
Survivors include daughters Betty Bailey of Peru and Mrs. Douglas (Dawn) Macklin of Warsaw; brother James Jones of Angola and a half-brother, Robert Dewoody of California; a half sister, Mrs. Jerry (Linda) Kuephfer of Lansing, MI; and nine grandchildren. A son, Kevin M. Jones, preceded him in death in 1993.
Funeral service was held Monday, February 18, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel with Pastor Lowell Burrus officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery of North Manchester.

John Allen Deal
John Allen Deal, 58, of 845 Sunset Dr., Wabash, IN, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2001 at Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, IN. He was born Apr. 17, 1942 to Paul and M. Eileen (Wilson) Deal. He married Janet McKay in Fort Wayne on June 10, 1980.
He worked at Fall Creek, Inc. in Elkhart. He was a 1960 graduate of Wabash High School and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, of Wabash; a son, John H. Deal of Wabash; step daughters Mrs. Craig (Christina) Williamson of Fishers, IN and Mrs. Gregory (Amanda) Roebel of Fort Wayne; a brother Dennis (Cynthia) Deal of Indianapolis; grandson Wyatt Williamson of Fishers; and granddaughters Madelaine and Lillian Roebel, of Fort Wayne.
Funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Main Street Chapel, Wabash, with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial was in the Falls Cemetery of Wabash.
Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Animal Shelter.

Helen E. Poor
Helen E. Poor, 95, of 222 Parkview, Plymouth, IN formerly of 2000 Westgate, Apt. 8028, Plymouth, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002 at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home of Plymouth, where she had been a resident since November 2000. She was born Oct. 22, 1906 near Plymouth, IN to Charles Edward and Hanna (Hill) Kanarr. She married Floyd F. Poor April 6, 1927 at Plymouth, IN and spent most of her life as a homemaker in the Marshall County area. Mr. Poor preceded her in death July 20, 1984. She moved to Argos in 1975, coming from Cook Lake; she later moved to Plymouth.
She was a member of the North Salem Church of God of Plymouth. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching and playing euchre with her friends.
She is survived by six grandchildren: Susie DeLong and her husband Terry, Pam Hoefner, Nancy White, Billy Sears and Jim Sears, all of Anderson, IN and Doug Jones and his wife Lorraine of Noblesville; eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Ida Mae Logan of North Manchester; a son-in-law, Robert Jones of Noblesville, plus nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, twin daughters Mary Sears (Sept. 17, 1986) and Betty Jones (Aug. 5, 2000), two sisters - Ruby Hilberg and Fern Holdread, and a brother Ray Kanarr.
Funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 at Grossman Funeral Home of Argos, with Rev. Larry Stutzman officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery of Plymouth.
Preferred memorials are to the North Salem Church of God, Plymouth, IN.

Ralph H. Townsend
Services for Ralph H. Townsend, 88, of Timbercrest Retirement Community, North Manchester, were held Friday morning, Feb. 8, 2002 at Timbercrest Chapel with Rev. Joan Deeter officiating.
Pianist was Edith Ferguson, and burial was at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland, MI. Arrangements were by DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel.
