Anna S. Fredine
Services were held for Anna S. Fredine, 104, a former North Manchester resident, Monday afternoon at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel. Pastor Jeffrey Hawkins officiated and burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Pallbearers were Harold Fredine, Howard Fredine, Don Tait, and Jeffrey Hawkins.

Florence N. Damron
Services for Florence N. Damron, 87, of 203 Damron Dr., North Manchester, were held Monday morning, March 11, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary No. Manchester Chapel. Pastor Jeffrey Hawkins and Deaconess Sabine Thomas officiated at Diane Scheerer provided music.
Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery of North Manchester. Serving as pallbearers were Mitch Schutz, David Waas, Chris Caldwell, Leon Bazzoni, George Scheerer, and Randy Middleton.

Glen C. Keaffaber
Services for Glen C. Keaffaber, 89, of North Manchester, IN were held Wednesday afternoon, March 13, 2002 at the DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, No. Manchester Chapel. Pastor Daniel Binkley and Pastor Dale Leinbach officiated and Mary Baker presided at the organ. Soloist was Gary Cline.
Burial was at Memorial Lawns Cemetery of Wabash where pallbearers Kerry Keaffaber, Rod Burton, Ryan Burton, Rob Burton, Andy Buron, Jeff Keaffaber and Kurt Keaffaber served. Honorary pallbearers were Todd Hockemeyer, Matt Kilmer, Chad Kilmer, Jeff Bontrager, Kevin Brewer, J. T. Keaffaber, and Drew Keaffaber.

Carl R. Metzger
Carl R. Metzger, 74, of 1069E 1200S, Claypool, IN, died Monday, April 22, 2002 at his residence. He was born February 12, 1928 at Huntington County, IN to Paul and Mildred (Custer) Metzger, both deceased. He married Wilma G. Wray on November 25, 1950; she survives.
He had worked for Frantz Lumber Company, and was a self-employed truck washer for 30 years. He was a member of the Eel River Old German Baptist Church of Silver Lake.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons - Kenneth (Mary Ann) Metzger and James (Terry) Metzger, both of Claypool; two daughters - Mrs. Kenneth (Arlene) Hopkins of New Carlisle, OH and Mrs. Jerry ( Sharon) Moser of Goshen; a brother, Edwin Metzger of Laketon; a twin sister, Cleo (Moore) Shuck of Baldwin City, Kansas and another sister, Mrs. Virgil (Karen) Frantz of North Manchester; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel Wednesday, April 24 from 1 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 25, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Eel River Old German Baptist Church, CR 1200S & Packerton Road. The Home Brethren will officiate, and burial will be in the North Manchester Old German Baptist Cemetery.

Jimmy Ray Sluss, Sr.
Jimmy Ray Sluss, Sr., 57, of 372 Alena St., Wabash, IN, died Saturday afternoon, April 20, 2002 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born May 4, 1944 at Lee County, VA to William and Margie (Marshall) Sluss. He married Barbara L. Place on June 17, 1967 in Peru, Indiana.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966; he joined the Army Reserves in 1974 and was a drill instructor for 16 years before retiring in 1991. He was employed by Celotex in Lagro for 33 years, retiring in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Wabash; two sons - Jim Sluss, Jr. and Clint (Julie) Sluss, both of Wabash; two daughters - Jennifer Sluss of Wabash and Kim Sluss of Indianapolis; six brothers - Frank (Sherry), Mack (Theron), Charles "Cotton" (Nancy), Gary (Susie) Sluss - all of Wabash, and Fred (Rhonda) Webb of Cassopolis, MI and Carl (Tricka) Webb of Huntington; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Pastor Tim Prater will officiate at the funeral service to be held Wednesday afternoon, 1:00 p.m., April 24, 2002 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel in Wabash. Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery of Wabash.
Preferred memorials are to Vernon Manor Love Park or Wabash-Miami Home Healthcare & Hospice.

Lucille J. Schultz
Lucille J. Schultz, 61, of 1100 W. Fourth St., North Manchester, IN died Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at her residence. She was born at Charleston, W.V. Sept. 3, 1940 to Gilbert and Edna (Combs) Estep. She married Ronald (Mike) Schultz on Nov. 15, 1958; he died January 12, 2001.
She was retired from housekeeping at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester. She attended Laketon Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include daughters Mrs. David (Betty) Rogers of Pekin, IN and Mrs. Greg (Kathy) Brubaker of North Manchester; a brother, Harold Estep of West Virginia; and sisters Helen Hines, W.V., Mrs. Charlie (Betty) Tackett, North Carolina, Mrs. Herb (Dot) Willis of Ohio and Mrs. Jay (Kay) McCubbon, Norfolk VA; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. A son, Gilbert E. Schultz, died in 1986.
Funeral service was held Saturday, April 20, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, No. Manchester Chapel with Rev. J. P. Freeman officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Christina Torres
Services were held for Christina Torres, infant daughter of Abelardo Torres and Lisa Federico of Silver Lake, IN at the Silver Lake Wesleyan Church Wednesday, April 17, 2002 with Rev. Jonathan Light officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
The baby was born and died April 13, 2002 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN.
In addition to her parents, she was survived by maternal grandparents Frank and Darlene Federico of Claypool, IN, and paternal grandparents, Bruno and Louisa Torres of Vera Cruz, Mexico.
Arrangements were by DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary Silver Lake Chapel.

Velma M. Ihnen
Velma Marine Ihnen, 98, of Hickory Creek, Rochester, IN and formerly of Silver Lake, IN, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at Hickory Creek, Rochester, IN. She was born April 28, 1903 at Wabash County, IN to Simon and Elsie (McCreary) Bishop. She married Herman T. Ihnen in January 1922; he died October 29, 1971.
She was a member of the South Pleasant United Methodist Church of Silver Lake. She was a retired cook at the Corner Cupboard after 23 years. She was a member of the Laketon American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Robert Ihnen of North Manchester; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Davis of Akron, IN; a brother, Kempies Bishop of North Manchester; 10 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. A son, a daughter and three sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral service was held Friday, April 19, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel with Pastor Nikki Marker officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
Preferred memorials are to South Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Cade Lucas Miller
Infant Cade Lucas Miller, 12600 SR 13, Lot 18, North Manchester, born April 15, 2002, died Monday afternoon, April 15, 2002 at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, IN. His parents are Mark Miller of North Manchester and Carri McCuan of North Manchester. Logan Robinson, a half brother, of North Manchester, survives.
Other survives include maternal relatives - grandfather David McCuan of Phoenix, AZ; grandparents Scott and Brenda Bowman, Logansport; great grandmother, Eve Gagnon, Peru; great grandparents Richard and Sondra Bowman of Logansport; great-great grandmother, Evelyn Wray of Peru; and great aunt Ruth Burch of North Manchester; paternal relatives include grandmother Ms. Diann Litral of North Manchester and great grandparents Bill and Betty Robison, also of North Manchester.
Graveside service was held Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at Akron Cemetery, Akron, IN with Pastor Jeff Graham officiating.
Arrangements were by DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel.

Edith Ryan
Services were held for Edith Ryan, 91, formerly of Silver Lake, IN, on Thursday afternoon, April 11, 2002 at Center United Methodist Church of Silver Lake. Rev. Doris E. Smith officiated, and Betty Doub presided at the organ.
Pallbearers serving at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN included Clifford Zehr, Mike Grogg, Jeff Grogg, Chris Grogg, Bob Ryan and Jim Ryan. DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary Silver Lake Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth P. Akers
Services for Ruth P. Akers, 83, of rural Urbana, IN, were held Tuesday afternoon, April, 9, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary No. Manchester Chapel with Dr. Janie Fulbright officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery of Lagro.
Pallbearers included David Meyer, Jim Bartoo, Tim Ryan, Marvin Akers, Bart Matney, and Bill Moore. Arrangements were by DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary No. Manchester Chapel.
Dylan Charles, Damian Craig, and Seth Alan Douglass
Infants Dylan Charles, Damian Craig and Seth Alan Douglass, were born and died Saturday, April 20, 2002 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, IN. Parents are Philip Charles Douglass and Tiffany Nicole Engle, of Wabash.
Other relatives include grandfather Craig Engle, Sr. of Wabash; grandparents Beverly and Jerry Deich of Wabash; and grandmother Shari Douglass of Wabash; great grandparents Chuck and Angie Douglass of Wabash, Glen and Janie Engle of North Manchester, El;izabeth Engle of Wabash, Foster and Barbara Gatchel of Wabash, Gene and Sandy Middleton of Wabash, Robert and Bonnie Douglass of Peru; great great grandmother, Beulah Hunn of North Manchester; and uncles Craig Engle, Jr. and Nicholas Douglass, both of Wabash.
Services will be held April 24, 2002 in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, of Wabash, with Guy Provance officiating. Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Loucks, Jr.
Walter Loucks, Jr. of Phoeniz, Arizona passed away April 14, 2002 at the age of 68. Walt was born in North Manchester, IN Nov. 28, 1933.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, of 40 years; two daughters, Kay Miller (Doug) of Aurora, CO and Deneen Loucks of Phoenix; a sister, Jean Loucks (Grubb) Renschler of Louisville, KY, formerly of North Manchester; and three granddaughters - Kristina, Katelyn and Kylene.
Walter attended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, served in the Army during Korean conflict, was a member of Local Union 428 and a lifetime member of USAC.
Visitation and services were held at Hansen Mortuary, 8417 N. Seventh Street, Phoenix, AZ on April 19. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., P hoenix, AZ 85014.
