David A. Batchelor
David A. Batchelor, age 64, of Richmond, died Saturday evening (October 23, 2004) at Reid Hospital . He was born in Richmond on May 11, 1940 to Irvin and Frances Myers Batchelor and had lived in this area all of his life. He was a retired employee of Whitewater Valley REMC and he was a US Army veteran. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Moose Lodge. His wife, Diana “Sue B” Batchelor, whom he married on July 6, 1968. died on April 7, 1996.

His parents, a sister, Betty Huzar, and two brothers, Robert and Paul Batchelor are also deceased.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday (October 27, 2004) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Pastor Brett Karanovich will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Veterans Council. Friends may call on Tuesday (October 26, 2004) from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Daniel J. Toney
Daniel J. Toney, age 80, of Richmond, died Sunday (October 3, 2004) at Oakridge Rehab and Specialty Care. He was born in Richmond to Alphonso and Edith Morris Toney and had worked at the former Swayne Robinson Company.

Donald M. Turner
Donald M. Turner, age 85, of Richmond, died Sunday (November 14, 2004) at Reid Hospital. He was born in Richmond on July 30, 1919 to Henderson and Lula Smith Turner and had lived here all of his life. He was a retired employee of Avco and he was a member of the Eagles Lodge. His wife, Velma Turner, died in 1994.

Daughter – Sheila Whited of Indianapolis
Sisters – Martha White of Ohio

Earl N. Daggy, Jr.
Earl N. Daggy, Jr., age 84, of Richmond, died unexpectedly Sunday morning (November 14, 2004) at his residence. He was born in Indianapolis on September 15, 1920 to Earl N. and Mae Kerr Daggy and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a 1939 graduate of Morton High School and he was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. Earl was an Eagle Scout and had served as a Commissioner for the Boy Scouts. He and his father had owned and operated Daggy Hardware Store in Centerville and he was an aeronautical engineer and had served as the chief engineer for the Controls Division of Perfect Circle. He had also worked as a project engineer for New Castle Products in New Castle, Indiana and had owned and operated Hilling Moving and Storage where he also served as presidcnt of the Indiana Movers Association. Earl had served as a vice president of the Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce and he was a faithful member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he held numerous offices and leadership positions. He was US Army veteran of World War II having served with the Combat Engineers in the South Pacific and he also served in Alaska during the Korean War. He was a member of the Prop Busters Radio Control Club, the Old Trails Rifle and Pistol Club, the National Rifle Association, the Golden K Kiwanis Club and was a former member of the Richmond Rotary Club and Past President of the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday (November 19, 2004) in First Christian Church, 100 S. 10th Street. Revs. Jim & Dixie Miller will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday (November 19, 2004) at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church. Arrangements are being handled by Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary.
Leo Merritt
Leo Merritt, age 75, of Richmond, died Monday (November 22, 2004) at his residence. He was born in Richmond on December 12, 1928 to John A. and Ollie Justice Merritt and had lived here all of his life. He had owned and operated Merritt Plastering and was a retired 26 year employee of JC Penny Company. He was a US Army veteran.
Survivors include – Wife – Violet Merritt to whom he was married 50 years

Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday (November 27, 2004) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Mark Hinshaw will officiate. Friends may call on Saturday (November 27, 2004) from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends after the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Reid Hospital Foundation for Hospice, 1401 Chester Blvd., Richmond, IN 47374.
James E. Rogers
James E. Rogers, age 96, of Richmond, died Wednesday evening (November 24, 2004) at Pinehurst Village. He was born in Wayne County on January 16, 1908 to Bert and Iva McClerney Rogers and had lived here all of his life. He was a 1926 graduate of Centerville High School and he was a retired mechanic and had worked for 25 years at the former Chenoweth Cadillac dealership. He had been an active member of the Richmond Senior Center and he had been a 10 year volunteer for Meals on Wheels where he received the 1000-hour pin for his service. He was a former member of First Christian Church where he was a long time member of the Golden Band Sunday School Class. He was currently a member of Calvary Baptist Church. His wife, Dorothy Bailey Rogers, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage in October 1989, died January 7, 1990.

Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday (November 28, 2004) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Lester Maples and Rev. David Mosley will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday (November 28, 2004) from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1401 Chester Blvd. Richmond, Indiana 47374.
Leslie James Blume

Leslie James “Jim” Blume, Sr., age 65, known by his friends as “Moose”, died Tuesday evening (November 30, 2004) at Reid Hospital. He was born in Richmond on January 31, 1939 to Gerald V. and Martha Gammons Blume and had lived here all of his life. He graduated from Richmond High School and was a veteran of the US Army. He retired in 1999 from Thoro Systems where he held four records for single-person production. He attended Saint Andrew Church and was a member of the Richmond Conservation Club.
Survivors include – Wife – Patricia Ann Blume with whom he celebrated 39 years of marriage on November 26th.
