Date: 2004-12-09
Ruth E. Russell, age 86, of Richmond, died Thursday afternoon (December 9, 2004) at Golden Rule – Beverly Healthcare. She was born in Richmond on March 14, 1918 to John and Anne Harmeling Sherman and had lived here all of her life. She was a retired teacher for Holy Family School where she worked for 17 years. She was a member of Holy Family Church, the Women’s Club of the church, the Daughters of Isabella and she had been an active member of the Wayne County Bowling Association. Her husband, Floyd N. Russell, died February 24, 1994.
Survivors include – Daughters – Mary Ann Price of Lewisburg, Ohio
Jean Goins of Richmond
Son – James Russell of Liberty, South Carolina

1 Great Grandson

A sister and a brother are also deceased.
A prayer service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday (December 13, 2004) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Holy Family Church. Entombment will be in Earlham Mausoleum. Friends may call on Monday (December 13, 2004) from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Reid Hospital Foundation, 1401 Chester Blvd. Richmond, Indiana 47374.

Mary Louise Cook

Mary Louise Cook, age 71, of Richmond, died Monday evening (December 13, 2004) at Reid Hospital. She was born in Richmond on August 13, 1933 to Carl and Lucille Stanton Kutter and had lived here all of her life. She had attended Saint Andrew School and she was a homemaker.
Survivors include – Son – Tim (Sue) Cook of Richmond
Brothers – William (Ruth) Kutter of Dayton, Ohio
Grandson – Robert Cook of Richmond
Aunt – Pauline (Walter) Witte of Richmond
Uncle – Hank Kutter of Richmond
A prayer service will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday (December 16, 2004) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Andrew Church. Burial will be in Saint Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday (December 15, 2004) from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the funeral home.

Madeline McLear
Date: 2004-12-12
Madeline McLear, age 90, of Richmond, died Sunday evening (December 12, 2004) at Oakridge Rehab and Specialty Care. She was born in Wayne County on May 10, 1914 to William Edgar and Ethel Mae Mock Goodson and she attended school in Centerville. She developed a great love for fishing and was a gifted artist in ceramics having taught classes in her own studio. She had moved back to Richmond this year from Rising Sun. She was a bookkeeper and had worked for Vigran Realty and for Julian’s Fashions..

Brother – Rev. Donald Goodson of Staten Island, New York
Sister – Alma Merkamp of Richmond
Grandsons and Great Granddaughters -Michael E. (wife Lisa) Pardieck and their daughter Shainna of Richmond

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl W. Cheesman, her second husband, Frank Cox, her third husband, Harry McLear.and her brother, Rev. Robert Goodson.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday (December 17, 2004) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Bill Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday (December 17, 2004) from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Christmas Fund, 707 South “A” Street, Richmond, IN 47373

Zoan Christine Gordon

Zoan Christine Gordon, age 70, of Richmond, died Saturday (December 18, 2004). She was born in Richmond on January 28, 1934 to Everett Cottman and Armanthua Adcock Cottman (Watkins) and had lived here all of her life. She was a retired employee of Belden where she had given 28 years of service. She was a member of Bethel AME Church in Richmond and she had volunteered for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County. Her husband, Morris Richard Gordon, died November 3, 1991.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday (December 22, 2004) in Bethel AME Church, 200 South 6th Street. Pastor Barbara Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday (December 22, 2004) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the church. Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Everett Coffey
Date: 2004-12-20
Everett Coffey, age 73, of Richmond, died Monday (December 21, 2004) at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Estill County, Kentucky on September 22, 1931 to Harvey and Emeline Lainhart Coffey and had lived in Richmond for a number of years and then in Indianapolis before moving back here four years ago. He was self-employed and he was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.

Edith Rehling, age 90, of Richmond, died Tuesday morning (December 21, 2004) at Friends Fellowship Community. She was born in Indianapolis on January 5, 1914 to Leonard and Marylouella Spencer Forsythe and had lived in Richmond since 1943. She was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Indiana Business College. She had worked with her husband in the operation of the former Campbell Duff & Rehling Insurance Agency. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Her husband, Albert R. Rehling, died on October 28, 1983.

Betty J. Austerman, age 75, of Richmond, died Wednesday (December 22, 2004) at Golden Rule – Beverly Healthcare. She was born in Connersville on April 14, 1929 to Wilbur and Edith Maze VanAusdall and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a retired employee of Belden where she had worked for 38 years. Her husband, Harold Austerman, died June 3, 1998.
Survivors include – Daughter – Connie DeGraw of Richmond
Grandson – Michael DeGraw of Indianapolis
Sister – Margaret Hood of St. Louis, Missouri
