Cheryl A. Shutler, age 57, of Richmond, died Wednesday (December 22, 2004) at Cherish Health and Living Center. She was born in New York and she was a homemaker.

Alta Brandon
Date: 2004-12-23
Alta Brandon, age 96, of Richmond, died Thursday (December 23, 2004) at Reid Hospital. She was born in Fayette County, Indiana on November 29, 1908 to Melvin and Cynthia Vandevender and had lived in this area most of her life. She has worked at the former International Harvester and was a retired employee of Alcoa. Her husband, Henry O. Brandon, died on April 14, 2002.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday (December 30, 2004) in Riggle Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Dixie Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday (December 29, 2004) from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Daniel J. Bailey

Daniel J. Dan Bailey, age 83, of Richmond, died Thursday morning (December 30, 2004) at Pinehurst Village after several months of illness. He was legally blind nearly five years after suffering a stroke. He lived in Richmond his entire life. He was born in Richmond on December 23, 1921 to Buford and Marie Pipher Bailey. He was a veteran of World War II and he was the owner of Baileys Used Clothing located on Fort Wayne Avenue. He loved all sports including baseball and basketball. His favorite music was of the Big Band era and his mother played music of the 30s, 40s and 50s as a professional pianist where he loved to sing along or whistle as she played. He was kind to all animals and is survived by his two cats. He was an avid walker, usually walking 10 to 15 miles per day.

Funeral services will be held on Monday (January 3, 2005) at 2:00 pm in Riggle Waltermann Mortuary. The services will be offered by Pastor Frank Holman. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
John B. Keal

John Burgess Bud Keal, age 89, of Richmond, died Monday afternoon (January 3, 2005) at Golden Rule Beverly Healthcare. He was born in Connersville on March 2 1915 to Charles and Mary Lou McRoberts Keal and had lived in the Richmond area most of his life. He was a US Army veteran of World War II where he served in India and Burma. He has worked at Rex Manufacturing, Alcoa and as a bartender. He had also been employed by Miller Milkhouses. He was a member of VFW Post 1108, the 40 & 8, and American Legion Post 315 where he served as Commander in 1963, 1964 and 1966.
Survivors include Sister Velma Louise Bageaut of Avon Park. Florida

Several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews including his caregivers: nephew Bill Crute and great niece Diana Gianfagna and Dick Gianfagna.
In addition to his parents, two brothers, Joe Keal and Charles Keal, Jr. and two sisters, Nan Martin and Audrey Barringer are also deceased.
Graveside services and burial will be in Dale Cemetery in Connersville at 1:00 pm on Saturday (January 8, 2005). Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Friends may call at Riggle Waltermann Mortuary (Richmond) on Saturday (January 8, 2005) from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne County Veterans Council, 32 South 11th Street, Richmond, IN 47374.

Robert W. Duckett II, age 37, of West College Corner, Indiana, died Wednesday morning (January 5, 2005) at his residence. He was born in Richmond on January 16, 1967 and had lived in this area all of his life. He was a graduate of New Miami High School and had worked for Roto Rooter.

Justin Blair Cross

Justin Blair Cross, age 24, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 in Indianapolis after a courageous four and one-half year battle with leukemia. He was born November 24, 1980 to Ronald L. & Linda L. Roberts Cross in Richmond, Indiana
He attended Garrison and Test schools before graduating from Richmond High School in 1999. At RHS he was a member of the golf team for four years where he participated on the 1997 State Championship team. He went on to attend Ball State University and play on the Mens Golf Team, where he earned Academic-All American honors in 2003. His exceptional golf talent earned him many honors on local, state and national levels. In addition to being an avid golfer, he was active in numerous school and community associations including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Campus Crusade for Christ, Athletes in Action and the Ball State Student Athlete Advisory Board. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Richmond where he was baptized and confirmed in 1993. He had been attending worship services in Muncie, Indianapolis and in Richmond at First English Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter & Laura Roberts.
A memorial service to celebrate Justins life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday (January 8, 2005) in First English Lutheran Church, 2727 National Road East, Richmond, IN. The family will receive guests in a reception to be held immediately following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Richmond High School Athletic Department, 380 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond, IN 47374, to any local chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, or to a favorite charity. Riggle Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

James H. Shaw, age 71, of Richmond, died Monday (January 17, 2005) at his residence. He was born in Circleville, Ohio on May 30, 1933 to James L. and Nora O. Newman Shaw and had lived here most of his life. He was a 1952 graduate of Richmond High School and he was a retired 27 year employee of Verizon. He was employed by PNR Security.
