Vernon E. Leerssen

Vernon E. Leerssen, age 85, of Richmond, died Monday morning (February 28, 2005) at Golden Rule Beverly Healthcare. He was born on July 14, 1919 in Oaks, North Dakota to Frederick and Lydia Greuel Leerssen and had lived here since 1948. He was a US Army veteran of World War II where he served with the 20th Division Engineers. He retired in 1982 as an employee of Armstrong Heating and Cooling and he had worked for Miller Milkhouses. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. His wife, Edna Collins Leerssen, died on July 29, 2001.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday (March 3, 2005) in Riggle Waltermann Mortuary. Pastor Herb Berry will officiate. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday (March 2, 2005) from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Mary E. Gwaltney

Mary E. Gwaltney, age 78, of Richmond, died Tuesday morning (March 8, 2005) in Reid Hospital. She was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on June 23, 1926 to Virgil L. and Myrtle Grace Combs LeMaster and had lived in this area for the past 46 years. She was a retired employee of the former Coxs Market and she was a member of American Legion Post 315 Auxiliary where she had served as president for 5 years. Her husband, Ralph Gwaltney, died in 1987.

Virginia Moore

Virginia Moore, age 90, of Richmond, died Tuesday afternoon (March 15, 2005) at Reid Hospital. She was born on February 10, 1915 in Richmond to William and Gladys Case Stover and had lived here all of her life. She was a homemaker and had volunteered at the former Green Acres. She was a former member of Alpha Delta Omega Sorority where she had served as president for two terms. Her husband, Robert C. Moore, died on July 27, 1990.

A public memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday (March 18, 2005) in Riggle Waltermann Mortuary. Father Eric Augenstein will officiate. Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery.
Barbara E. McClain

Our heavenly Father came looking for an angel. In a soft gentle voice that only she could hear, he said to her, you have served me well. As he reached out his hand, she heard him say it is time. Barbara E. McClain, age 75, of Richmond, died Friday morning (March 18, 2005) at Golden Rule-Beverly Healthcare. She was born in Richmond on October 8, 1929 to Verold L. and Hazel E. Adams Lackey and had lived here all of her life. She was a member of Saint Mary Church and she was a retired employee of the Palladium-Item. Her husband, James W. McClain, died February 24, 1991.

James R. "Jay" Jack

James R. Jay Jack, age 62, of Richmond, died Saturday (March 19, 2005) at Reid Hospital. He was born in Greenfield, Indiana on April 1, 1942 to Joseph and Cora Jack and had lived in this area since 1976. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a former employee of Johns Manville. He was an alumna of the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Knightstown and he was a member of the Living Word Christian Fellowship. His wife, Rosemary Jack, died May 21, 2004.

She was born in Anderson, Indiana on September 27, 1983 to David and Linda Smith Shelford and had lived in the area since 1989. She was a 2002 graduate of Richmond High School where she was a member of the Girls Varsity Soccer Team. She attended Indiana University in Bloomington and was currently a student at Indiana University East. She was employed by OCharleys Restaurant.

Burial will be later in Earlham Cemetery. Riggle Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

James Robert Klute, age 63, formerly of Richmond, died Friday (April 1, 2005) in Dawson, Georgia. He was born on June 18, 1941 in Richmond to Robert E. and Laura Jean Hall Klute. He was a carpenter and had lived in Richmond until moving to Georgia two years ago.

She was born on June 26, 1925 in Williamsburg, Indiana to William and Ethel Mock Goodson and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of Boston High School and she was a member of Holy Family Church. She was a homemaker and had been employed by Radfords Meat Market. She was former 4-H volunteer and a former member of the Abington Home Economics Club.
