Tari Rieke Gonzales
Teresa Gonzales, 43, of Kansas City, MO, passed away, Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral services will be 6 p.m., Thursday at the Amos Family chapel of Shawnee. Visitation will be 4 – 6 p.m., Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice House.
Teresa was born in Kansas City, KS and graduated from SMNW in 1982. She is survived by her husband, Michael Gonzales; her children, Erica Argie, Briana Magdaleno and Dylan Bruno; her parents, Leon and GeGe Rieke; a sister, Leona Young and a brother, Derrick Rieke.
Stanley Throckmorton
Stanley Throckmorton, 87, passed away unexpectedly on December 18th, 2007. Stan was born on April 2, 1920, in Tracy, MO. He married the love of his life, Viola Strow in June, 1948. Stan was a WWII veteran and was employed by the Army Ammunitions Plant in Parsons, KS for 36 years. He was also elected as Secretary-Treasurer of OCAW Union #508 in 1967. Stan served as a school crossing-guard in Overland Park for ten years. Stan and Vi were members of the First Assembly of God Church in Parsons, KS for 50 years, and were active in the Overland Park Assembly of God Church after moving to Johnson County, KS in 1991. Stan is preceded in death by his son, Mark Throckmorton, brother, Lloyd Throckmorton, sister, Virgilene Buckler, and parents Byrum and Birdie Throckmorton. Stan is survived by his wife, Viola Throckmorton, daughter and son and law, Sherri and Dan Robeson of Leawood, and daughter in law, Kim Throckmorton of Overland Park. He also has six grandchildren and two great-grandsons. The most important things in Stan’s life were his love of family and God. He was also a fan of Mizzou and Platte County football, and an avid gardener. He will be remembered as a kind and happy man, who had never met a stranger. Services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Ruth Anthony
Ruth Isabelle Anthony, 90, Shawnee, KS passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2007. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee; burial in the Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 12-1:00 p.m., Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to either the Countyside Christian Church Ladies Kitchen, 6101 Nall Ave, Mission, KS 66202 or the Disabled American Veterans.
Ruth was born Sept. 19, 1917 near Fairfax, MO to John and Eelzena May (Nauman) Gorman. On June 16, 1949 she married Carl Anthony. Prior to being a homemaker, Ruth worked as a teletype operator for TWA. She was a member of the Eastern Star Beatrice Chapter. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Anthony on March 11, 2007. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. A special appreciation to the staff of Sweet Life of Shawnee.
Ruby Cribbs
Ruby E. (Chilcote) Cribbs, 87, of Overland Park, Ks., passed away December 30, 2007, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
Ruby was born April 7, 1920 in Independence, KS. to Jacob Eugene and Bessie Mae Chilcote. Ruby was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a seamstress all her life and did home decorating. She was married to William H. Cribbs, June 2, 1940. To this union 3 children were born, Elizabeth A. Dyer, Phyllis E. Yost and Harold E. Cribbs.
Preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 daughter, and 1 grandson. Survivors are her husband of the home, daughter Phyllis, son Harold, sister Betty Sue Rhodes, 9 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren & numerous family members. A memorial service will be held at Colonial Church of Prairie Village 7039 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, KS., 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 19, 2008. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society or the memorial fund of Colonial Church in Ruby's name.
Ruby Connor
Ruby W. Connor, 95, of Cape Girardeau, MO, passed away Tuesday January 22, 2008, at the Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday January 25, 2008 at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Shawnee, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to Centenary United Methodist Church Cape Girardeau, MO 63701. Ruby was born August 20, 1912 in Mooreland, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Queen Esther Chapter, Woodward, Oklahoma. She married Vincent E. Connor on December 13, 1941, he preceded her in death November 21, 1996. Survivors include 6 nieces and nephews.
Robert Paul Meiers
Robert Paul Meiers, 86, of Lake View Village in Lenexa. KS; passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2008. Memorial mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2007 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church 13520 W. 92nd Street, Lenexa, KS; 66215.
Mr. Meiers was preceded in death by his parent’s Florence Fern and George H. Meiers, and by Margaret Mary his beloved wife of 58 years. He is survived by three sons, Paul (Linda) Meiers, Phil (Julie) Meiers, George (Carrie) Meiers, six grandchildren, John, Mary (McBride), Sara (Hilliard), Ben, Margaret, and Jessica, and six great grand children.
Bob was born in Pittsburg, KS; on October 5, 1921. He attended public schools thru High School. Bob first worked at the United States Naval Shipyard where he served an apprenticeship as a Marine Pipefitter. After a short stint in the United States Army where he attained the rank of corporal, he opted to take advantage of the G I Bill and he earned the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Bob went to work immediately following graduating college for Black and Veatch consulting Engineers retiring after 37 years in 1988. Mr. Meiers is also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Robert Jones
Bob Jones, 69, of Merriam, KS, passed away, Dec. 18, 2007. Services will be 11 a.m., Sat. at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Visitation will be 10 – 11 a.m., prior to the service.
Bob was born in Kansas City, MO. He was a Navy Veteran, a police officer and in the motorcycle business for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by a son Mark Allen Jones. Survivors include his wife, Karla Jones; daughter, Dee Elder; son, David Eugene Jones; a sister Vickie Johnson; brothers, David Jones, Britton Jones and Griffin Jones and a grandson, Scott Allen Franklin.
