CLARA M. VAN DERHAGEN
Clara Mae Van Derhagen, 82, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005 at her home. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, March 21 at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 PM, Sunday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Kansas City Hospice Foundation 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Clara Mae was born July 10, 1922 in Fairfield, IL to Isaac S. and Edna M. (Wilson) Parlier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Van Derhagen, Feb. 15, 1990. Survivors include her brother and his wife, Darrell E. and Judi Parlier, Springfield, MO; two step-daughters and their families, Linda Carl, Dodge City, KS and Sharon Newland, Lee’s Summit, MO and very dear friend, Tzion Baidglign, Shawnee, KS

Marjorie ‘Marge’ Swarts
Marjorie Swarts passed away March 5, 2005, at The Grand Court in Overland Park, Kansas. The family would like to invite all her friends to join them in celebrating her life. Friends may call from 6-8:00 p.m.with a rosary recitation at 5:30 p.m. at the Amos Family Chapel, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS on Wednesday, March 9. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W. 75th, Shawnee, Kansas; entombment in Resurrection Mausoleum, Lenexa, KS. The family requests no flowers and suggests donations to the Sisters Servants of Mary, 800 N. 18th St., Kansas City, KS 66102.
Marjorie was born in Bradford, in Yorkshire, England. She was preceded in death by her twin sister who died at birth and her husband of over 50 years, John L. Swarts who died in 1997. Marjorie and John met while he was stationed in England during WWII and she was a WREN serving with the Royal Navy. Marjorie became a US citizen in 1957. Working briefly at the Simmons Mattress Co. and selling Luzier’s cosmetics while teaching herself accounting and typing skills. Marjorie took a secretarial job at Veterans Quindaro Homes in October 1958 and very soon became the manager. While there she made many friends and gained the respect of residents as well as local and county officials not just for her tireless efforts in keeping The Homes an outstanding residential community but also for her compassionate support of the elderly as a Wyandotte County Legal Guardian. She retired in December 1994 and was recognized for her many contributions to local organizations and charities including being awarded honorary membership in the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #4 for her longtime support of the local police and their families.
Mourning her passing are her six children: son John Swarts, Prairie Village, KS; daughter Patricia Termini and husband, Stephan Johnson, Overland Park, KS; daughter Therese Iverson and husband, Michael, Shawnee, KS; daughter Jan Swarts, Overland Park, KS; son David Swarts and wife Ann, Lenexa, KS; and son Timothy Swarts and wife Anne, Lenexa, KS; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan Mansell, Bishop’s Stortfort, England; her brother, George Crabtree and wife Charlotte, Saratoga, CA; numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Marjorie enjoyed shopping with her daughters, long lunches with friends, reading and collecting antiques. She will be remembered for her character, wisdom, and her many kindnesses, her love of poetry, her witty newsletters during her 36 years at Qunidaro Homes, and her ‘very proper British accent’.
The family wishes to thank the staff of John Knox Village Hospice for their guidance and support. They would also like to especially thank Kathy and Traci of Gem Care for their loving and heartwarming care during her stay.

ALICE R. STOREY
Alice R. Storey, 73, Shawnee, KS went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 at the Sweet Life of Rosehill. A Celebration of her life will be11:00 AM, Monday, Jan. 17 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee; burial in the Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
Alice was born Sept.25, 1931 in Charleston, AR to Arthur and Verland Darr. She went to high school in Charleston and was an active basketball player there. Alice was a retail clerk at Safeway Grocery Store for 15 years, retiring in 1986. She was a very active member of Bethal Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS and later at the Quivira Baptist Church, Shawnee, KS. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Bert Storey in 1988 and daughter, Wanda Storey in 2003. Survivors include her son, Ronald Storey and his wife, Becky, Shawnee, KS; two sisters, Nadine Wood, Grants Pass, OR and Angie Huckstep, Benton, AR; brother, Douglas Darr, Tulsa, OK; and two grandchildren, Ryan Storey, Overland Park, KS and Jennifer Storey, Shawnee, KS.

RICHARD L. STIPP
Richard L. Stipp, 58, Shawnee, KS passed away Friday, March 18, 2005 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam, KS. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 23 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for colon cancer research.
Richard was born, August 24, 1946 in Colorado Springs, CO to Clarance and Juanita (Patty) Stipp. After graduating from Chanute High School in 1965, Richard enlisted in the US Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart. Richard married June Starbuck on June 5, 1970 in Altoona, KS. He currently was a conductor for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Richard loved gardening, traveling and wildlife. Survivors include his wife, June Stipp; sister, Nancy Anderson, Muscoutah, IL; brother, Clarance Stipp, Mansfield, OH; two sisters-in-law, Joanie Avonts, Fredonia, KS and Carmen Starbuck, Plainview, TX; brother-in-law, Kelly Starbuck, Benedict, KS; two aunts, Helen Patty and Anita Mae Patty; uncle, Bob Patty and many nephews and nieces.

LOMA FAYE STEELMAN
Loma Faye Steelman, 81, died Dec. 5, 2004, after several months of illness. She was born to Allie Burrus Ligon and Ronald Vincent Ligon, Sr, of Byers, TX. She was married to Leon Weldon Steelman for 53 years and he died in 1993. She is survived by two sons, Alan and his wife Michelle Steelman and Jimmie and his wife Maryann Steelman; one daughter, Donna and her husband Larry Shirley. Grandchildren are Rachel and Skye Singleton, Joshua and Rachel Steelman, Joel Steelman, Matt Steelman, Jamie and Anthony Norman, Lori Onions, and Ryan and Casey Shirley. Great Grandchildren are Gabriel Norman, Danielle, Kristen, and Jake Onions, Jordan and Hailey Shirley and Great Grandchildren in love, Coby and Peyton Seiz.ailey Shirley and great grandchildren in love, Coby and Peyton Siezs
Mrs. Steelman leaves her brother John Ligon, her sister Jane McGuffey, and her sister-in-law Chris Ligon all of Texas. She was preceded in death by her brother Ronald Vincent Ligon, JR, and her sister Ann Ligon. She leaves many nieces, nephews and family in Texas, Oklahoma, and the Kansas City area. Services will be 10:00 AM Wed Dec. 8, 2004, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with burial at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday.

POLLYANN SHAW
Pollyann Shaw, 72, of Merriam, KS passed away April 3rd, 2005 at KU Medical Center. Services will be held Thursday April 7th, 2005 at Full Faith Church, Shawnee, KS at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call from 10-11:00 at the church prior to the service. Burial Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Revival Chinese Ministries International or Jews for Jesus.
Pollyann was born February 4th, 1933 in Whiting, IA to Amil and Gwen Younger and was later adopted by Elmer and Marie (Sorensen) Larson and grew up in Moorhead, IA. She married Ray Shaw November 4th, 1951 and they made their home in the Kansas City area in 1974 after his retirement from the Air Force. She is survived by her husband; her sons Steve Shaw (Pat) of Overland Park, Tom Shaw (Cheryl) of Lakeland FL and their children Robin, Tera, Austin, and Ryan; and her son Jerry Shaw (Rita) of Platte City. She also leaves her sisters Carolyn Winquist (Marvin) Pearland, TX; Nancy Heflin (Ken), Glendale CA. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Howard Shaw in 1952. Pollyann will be remembered as a wonderful and loving wife mother and grandmother.

GORDON EUGENE SEAGO
Gordon E. Seago, 79, of Kansas City KS. passed away peacefully after receiving the last rites of the Church surrounded by family at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM. Saturday April 2nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kansas City, KS. A visitation will be held from 8:30-10AM at the church. Gordon was born August 30, 1925 to Elmer and Frances Seago in Slater, MO. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish, and was a member of the Friends of Pomona State Park. He enjoyed spending his time wood working, fishing and camping. Gordon was preceded in death by his sister; Winifred Seago. He is survived by his wife Rita of the home, three sons; Chuck and wife Karen of Kansas City, MO Chris and wife Julia of Topeka, and Cdr. Mark Seago USNR (ret.) and wife Carol of Kansas City, MO. Two daughters; Paula Jean Adair and husband Randy of Topeka, Sister Diana Seago, O.S.B of Atchison, KS. 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be sent to Benedictine Sisters Mount St. Scholastica. 801 S. 8th St. Atchison, KS 66002.
