VINCENT T. MCCARTHY
Vincent T. McCarthy of Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully at home Monday, March 7, 2005. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wed. March 9, 2005, at the Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa. Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be 10:30 AM, Thursday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Two memorial funds have been set up in Vinc’s name: Holy Spirit Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 11300 West 103rde St. Overland Park, KS 66214 or Hospice and Home Health Services of Olathe Medical Center, 20333 West 151st Street, Olathe, KS 66061.
Vincent was born in Logan Township Perth County Ontario on Jan. 8, 1927, to Daniel and Elizabeth (Gaffney) McCarthy.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Thomas, Joseph, and John. Survivors include his wife, Sandy, Three sons, Paul of Seattle, WA, Kevin of Yorba Linda, CA, Philip of Shawnee, KS, Step-son Greg Foley (Sandy) of Olathe, Step Daughter, Susan Johnson of Overland Park, two sisters, Margaret Morrison of Mitchell, Ontario, Joan (Don) Foster of Shelby Township, MI, One brother, Kenneth (Michelle) of Etobicoke, Ontario, two sisters-in-law, Jane McCarthy, London, Ontario and Alice McCarthy of Shawnee and Alyssa McCarthy of Overland Park, KS, three step grandchildren, Jason Foley of Gardner, KS Jennifer Resner of Gardner, KS and Stephanie Johnson of Overland Park, KS and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vince worked for Massey Ferguson for 40 plus years. Vince loved hockey, golfing, reading, and music. He adored his family, especially the grandchildren.
ROSEMARY ELIZABETH McVEY KOOKEN LAGOMARCINO
Rosemary Elizabeth McVey Kooken Lagomarcino was born on March 7, 1926 . On her 79th birthday, March 7, 2005, she returned to our Lord’s loving arms after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Rosemary was the oldest daughter of Edward and Teresa McVey, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by Richard A. Lagomarcino, her husband of 24 years, on February 5, 2005. She will be missed every day by her family, which include her son, Donald H. Kooken, Jr, his wife, Joanie, and their children; Kristie, Matthew and Tom. Also, her daughter, Karen M. Santa Cruz, her husband, Steve, and their children; Heather, Nathan, Elizabeth and Kyle. She is also survived by two sisters and three brothers; Louise Carter, Eileen Bolin, and Edward, John and William McVey; and their families.
Rosemary’s treasures in life were her faith and family. She was a member of St. Pius X parish since 1955. She attributes much of this faith building to her family and her 12 years education at St. Vincent’s Academy. Her faith was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren, particularly throughout her illness. After many years of working to raise her children, her greatest joy in her retirement was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her energy and fun-loving spirit to be actively involved in their lives will be cherished memories of our dear mother and grandmother forever.
Visitation will be 6-9 PM, Wednesday, March 9 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a Rosary recitation will be at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 10 at the St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5500 Woodson, Mission, KS 66202; burial in the Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church or School.
EVELYN S. CADWELL
Evelyn S. Cadwell, 82, of Merriam, KS passed away March 8, 2005. Funeral services will be held 2 pm. Friday March 11, 2005 at The Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Family suggest memorial contributions be sent to Odyssey Hospice or to KCPT. Evelyn was born March 5, 1923 in Shawnee, KS to Noah and Stella Harnden. She was formerly married to and preceded in death by Ivo F. (Pete) Loftus, and later William R. Cadwell. She is survived by two daughters; Lee Dye and Lynn Sprowl, one son; Pete J. Loftus, one sister; Anna Mae Krasick, 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Laurita I. Sanders, 81, Overland Park, KS passed away Wed. March 8, 2005, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Mass of Resurrection will be 10:00 AM, Friday Mar 11, 2005, at the Queen of the Holy Rosary with burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with a Rosary at 7:30PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation, Gyn/Oncology Fund, 800 West 47th St. Suite 204, Kansas City, MO 64112.
Mrs. Sanders was born in Hays, KS. She was a member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary, and St. Mary’s Circle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer J. Sanders. Survivors include a son, David L. and his wife Gloria Sanders of Marietta, GA; a daughter, Linda S. and her husband John M. McMillen of Bellevue, WA; a sister, Lucille Ruder of Overland Park, KS and three grandchildren, John P. Mc Millen, Jennifer C. McMillen and Kristen R. Sanders.
MICKEY (JEANINE) TASCHLER
Mickey (Jeanine) Taschler, 75 of Shawnee, KS passed away March 10, 2005 with her loving family at her side. A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, March12, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at The Amos Chapel of Shawnee with a Rosary at 4p.m. Family suggest memorial contributions be sent to Catholic Charities Hospice, St. Joseph School Early Education Fund or St. Joseph Parish Development Fund.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Pete Taschler of the home, one daughter; Sherri and husband John of Delray Beach, FL, two sons; Michael and wife Gayle of St. Louis, MO, Keith and wife Bobbie Jo of Shawnee, KS, one sister; Dolores Marie, eight grandchildren; Logan, Meredith Paula, Libby, Colin, Erica, James, Matthew and two great grandchildren; Colleen and Melanie. Mickey was born Jan. 29, 1930 in St. Louis, MO to Edward and Edna Goessling. She worked as an Office Administrator at a medical practice. She was preceded in death by one sister; Margaret Ruth, and one brother; Edward.
BILL D. ZERBE
Bill D. Zerbe, 79, of Shawnee, KS, died, Thursday, March 10, 2005. Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 14 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 – 4 p.m., Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mr. Zerbe was born in Kansas City, MO. He worked for General Motors for 40 years and retired in 1987. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife, Mary Zerbe; a son, Ray Zerbe; a daughter, Janice Nickason; brothers, Paul and Rancy; sisters, Barbara and Betty and five grandchildren.
MAVIS I. HUFFMAN
Mavis I. Huffman, 93, Kansas City, MO passed away, Sunday, March 13, 2005 at The Greens at Creekside Nursing Center. Mrs. Huffman was born June 19, 1912 in Pryor, OK to Robert and Bessie Hovermale. She was an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed fishing and hunting with her husband Paul who preceded her in death in 1993. She is survived by three sisters; Jean Wise, Bernell Sawyer, and Bernice Lapp. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Family suggest memorial contributions be sent to Crossroads Hospice.
