HOWARD E. STAHL, Sr.
Howard E. Stahl, Sr. 72, Olathe, KS passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Royal Terrace Nursing Center. Memorial Service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Visitation Monday 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Chapel. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mr. Stahl was born in Kansas City, KS. He was an Accountant for General Motors for 35 years. Howard received his B.A. Degree from Tusculum College in Greenville, TN.
Survivors include his wife Jean Stahl; Six children, Howard E. Jr. and his wife Yolanda Stahl, Jr. of Shawnee, KS, Robert L. and his wife Debbie Stahl of Shawnee, KS, Susan L. and her husband Michael Flowers of Blue Springs, MO, Karen R. and her husband Jeffrey Coon of Olathe, KS, John E. Stahl of Kansas City, KS, and Sharon A. and her husband Joe Leibfreid of Bowling Green, KY; Seven grandchildren.
AUGUST H. MULLER
August H. Muller, 86 of Mission, KS passed away April 2, 2005 at his home. He will beburiedwith military honors at Ft. Scott National Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Our Reedemer Lutheran Church, Aquebogue, NY.
August was born May 4, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY, lived in Riverhead, NY, for 60 years before moving to Kansas. He served in WW II in the First US/Canadian Special Service Force and the 101st Airborne Division where he was in 7 campaigns and the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member in the VFW. He enjoyed spending time fishing, gardening and crocheting. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lillian ;his daughter, Lynn Terry and her husband Charles of Prairie Village, KS, his son; Dennis and his wife Susan of Gig Harbor, WA, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
ANTHONY Di MAIO
Anthony Di Maio, 93 of Mission, KS passed away April 2, 2005 at Overland Park Manor. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday April 5, 2005 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Monday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with a Rosary at 7 PM.
Anthony was born June 27, 1911 in Cleveland, OH to Michael and Jennie Di Maio. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife; Beatrice Di Maio of the home, one son; Stephen Di Maio of Mission, KS, two daughters; Phyllis Di Maio of Redondo, CA. and Janet Di Maio of Overland Park, KS.
DOROTHY V. LEMMONS
Dorothy V. Lemmons, 84, of Overland Park, KS, passed away, Saturday, April 2, 2005 at her home in the presence of her family. The Mass of Resurrection will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Visitation will be 6 – 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice.
Dorothy was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in this area since 1961. She was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a former member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Fallar, in 1989. Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Mark) Kunz, of Lenexa, KS; a sister Jacqueline Callahan, of Garden City, L.I., NY; a granddaughter, Jami Keller; three grandsons, Adam (Lisa) Keller, Michael Kunz and Casey Kunz; and she was expecting the arrival of a great grandson, Brady Keller.
POLLYANN SHAW
Pollyann Shaw, 72, of Merriam, KS passed away April 3rd, 2005 at KU Medical Center. Services will be held Thursday April 7th, 2005 at Full Faith Church, Shawnee, KS at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call from 10-11:00 at the church prior to the service. Burial Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Revival Chinese Ministries International or Jews for Jesus.
Pollyann was born February 4th, 1933 in Whiting, IA to Amil and Gwen Younger and was later adopted by Elmer and Marie (Sorensen) Larson and grew up in Moorhead, IA. She married Ray Shaw November 4th, 1951 and they made their home in the Kansas City area in 1974 after his retirement from the Air Force. She is survived by her husband; her sons Steve Shaw (Pat) of Overland Park, Tom Shaw (Cheryl) of Lakeland FL and their children Robin, Tera, Austin, and Ryan; and her son Jerry Shaw (Rita) of Platte City. She also leaves her sisters Carolyn Winquist (Marvin) Pearland, TX; Nancy Heflin (Ken), Glendale CA. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Howard Shaw in 1952. Pollyann will be remembered as a wonderful and loving wife mother and grandmother.
HELEN LUCILLE ZIMMER
Helen Zimmer, 81, Shawnee, KS passed away Sunday, April 3rd at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 8th at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation, Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with the rosary being said at 7:30 PM. Helen is survived by two sons, Stephen Zimmer and Christopher Zimmer, both of Shawnee; six grandchildren; and sisters, Alice Richardson, Irene Smeltzer, and Mary Henke.
ARNOLD M. BERGMAN
Arnold Bergman, 94, of Shawnee, KS passed away April 4th, 2005 at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday April 7th, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Friends may call from 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday the 6th at the church with a rosary recitation at 6:00.
Arnold was born March 13th, 1911 in Quincy, Ill. As a boy, his family moved to Kansas City, KS where Arnold lived for all but the last 5 years of his life. He retired from Standard Steel in 1976, having worked there 35 years. He married Julia Gabel almost 70 years ago at St. Patrick Church. Arnold was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church for over 60 years; he belonged to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Perpetual Adoration Society.
Arnold is survived by his wife Julia; his sons; Raymond Bergman and his wife Freddy, Kenneth Bergman and his wife Mary Ann and Monsignor Robert Bergman; his sister Helen McSorley and his brother Mark Bergman and his wife Virginia 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild, in addition to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Herbert Bergman, Paul Bergman and Leo Bergman and granddaughter Jennifer Wolford. The Family asks that you join them in thanking God for Arnold and the Blessings given him by Our Father. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to St. Joseph Church for the Adoration Chapel Fund.
