John Melvis Small
John Melvis Small, 63, died October 20, 1994, at Cedar Crest
Manor, Medicine Lodge.
He was born June 9, 1931, at Nottinghill, Missouri, the son
of Robert Comer and Leona Ellen Heteelee Small. A 50 year
Medicine Lodge resident, he was an oil field employee.
He was a member of the Isabel American Legion.
Survivors include: a son, Robert, Medicine Lodge; two daughters,
Mary Stanley, Manhattan, and Janice Smith, Amarillo, Texas; two
brothers, Guy Basil, Pratt, and James Robert, Sawyer; two sisters,
Betty Jean Soper, Lawrence, and Elinor Gallaugher, Isabel; nine
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, October 22, 1994, in
Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Harry M. Reynolds
Harry M. Reynolds, 83, died July 18, 1995, at Cumbernauld Village,
Winfield.
He was born March 20, 1912, on a farm in Stevens County, the son
of Lee and Mary Etta Bowers Reynolds. He was raised in the Hugoton
area, receiving his early education in Stevens County rural schools
and later attending trade school in Chicago, where he received
training as an electrician. He moved to Medicine Lodge in 1937. In
1952, he began employment as a plant electrician with National Gypsum
Co., Medicine Lodge, retiring in 1977, following 25 years of service.
He has lived in Winfield since June 1980.
On June 30, 1950, he married Opal I. Stout near Winfield. She
survives.
Other survivors include: a step-son, Gerald Neighbors, Winfield;
three brothers, Ben, Donald and Arthur, all of Hugoton; four sisters,
Ethyle Reese and Edythe Stuart, both of Hugoton, Viola Quattlebaum,
Lamar, Colorado, and Zola Lynch, Rogers, Arkansas; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 21, 1995, at Miles Funeral
Service, Winfield. Burial was in the Highland Cemetery, Winfield.

Laura Margaret Reed
Laura Margaret Reed, 77, died May 9, 1994, at Wesley Medical
Center, Wichita.
She was born January 8, 1917, at Afton, Oklahoma, the daughter
of John Franklin and Maude Belle Angell Bell. A longtime resident
of the Medicine Lodge area, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, and
a charter member of the Flying Eagle HDU.
On January 26, 1941, she married George Reed at Medicine Lodge.
He died October 3, 1991.
Survivors include: two sons, Father Dennis L. Reed, Garden City,
and Gary L. Reed, Medicine Lodge; three brothers, Oliver D. Bell,
Nashville, and Elmer E. Bell, Kinsley; a sister Mary Hommertzheim,
Medicine Lodge; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 1994, at
First Christina Church, Medicine Lodge, with Bishop Stanley G.
Schlarman and the Rev. Tom Walters presiding. Burial was in Highland
Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Cherry Roberta Freeman
Cherry Roberta Freeman, 73, died October 19, 1994 at Smith
Center.
She was born Nobember 4, 1920, at Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the
daughter of William Calvin and Lenora Bryan. She spent her
school years at Lake City where she graduated from High School
in 1938.
On July 7, 1938, she married Norwood Freeman. He died July
3, 1994.
Survivors include: son, Bryan Jimmy, Wichita; two daughters,
Patricia Ann Naaz, Smith Center, and Linda Sue Lumbert, Winfield;
a sister Mattie Moore of Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held October 21, 1994 at Simmons Chapel,
Smith Center with Pastor Rhett Totten presiding. Grandsons were
casket bearers. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center.

Harry Frank Sippel
Harry Frank Sippel, 88, died October 20, 1994, at Kiowa District
Hospital.
He was born March 11, 1906, at Casey, Iowa, the son of William
M. and Lula B. Theurer Sippel. A Kiowa resident since 1911, he was
a retired owner and operator of Arts Cleaners.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Kiowa.
On August 20, 1929, he married Rosa J. Hart of Kiowa. She died
February 27, 1982.
Survivors include: a daughter, Judy Johnson, Winfield; a brother,
Roy, Kiowa; a sister, Grace Burns, Kiowa; two grandchildren; and a
great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 22, 1994, at the
United Methodist Church, Kiowa, with the Rev. R. Laney Kuhn presiding.
Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa.

Marie B. Mauler
Marie B. Mauler, 85, died September 23, 1994, at her home.
She was born May 30, 1909, at Nashville, Kansas, the daughter
of Joseph and Cunigunda Adehardt Ridder. A Pratt resident since
1954, moving from St. Leo, she worked at Jetts Department Store
as a clerk.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar
Society and theElks Emblem Club, all at Pratt, and the St. Leo
Daughters of Isabella.
On April 17, 1929, she married Edwin Simon. He died December
24, 1935. On January 24, 1946, she married Frank Mauler at St.
Leo. He died August 13, 1980.
Survivors include: two sons, Gerald Simon, St. Leo, and Robert
L. Simon, Marienthal; a daughter, Gladys Venard, Dodge City; and
a sister, Margaret Simon, St. Leo.
Funeral was Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pratt,
with Father Ted Skalsky presiding. There was no viewing, the
casket remained closed. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
Memorials may be snet to the donor's choice in care of the
mortuary.
Dora Ellen Shelite
Dora Ellen Shelite, 86, died October 21, 1994, at Pratt Regional
Medical Center.
She was born May 26, 1908, at Capron, Oklahoma, the daughter of
William J. and Catherine J. Johnston Rea. She was a graduate of
Northwestern University, Alva, Oklahoma. A pratt resident since
1992, formerly of Medicine Lodge, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge.
On June 29, 1926, she married Orval Roy Shelite at Medicine
Lodge. He died December 5, 1992.
Survivors include: two sons, Orva R. Jr., Hutchinson, and Rea
L., Iuka; two daughters, LaVonne Taylor Freeman, Stilwell, Oklahoma,
and Peggy Lee Huffman, Dodge City; two brothers, Bill Rea, Hutchinson,
and Tom Rea, Edmond, Oklahoma; three sisters, Minnie Herrinton,
Hesston, Lula McGuire, Alva, Oklahoma, and Kathryn Snyder, Wichita;
17 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 24, 1994, at First
Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. tom Walters presiding.
Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Max D. Fowler
Max D. Fowler, 77, died November 4, 1999, at the Okeene Hospital,
Okeen, Oklahoma.
He was born September 12, 1922, at Larned, the son of Harry and
Edith Ebersole Fowler. He graduated from high school in Sharon, in
1940. He farmed for a short time, then moved to Canton in 1955 as
an agent for the Santa Fe Railroad, and continued as Agent until
retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Canton. He was
a former member of the Canton Lions Club, Canton Chamber of Commerce,
Red Carpet Country, and was one of the founders of the Canton Lake
Walleye Rodeo. He was very active in the boy Scout organization
during the time his son Robert was in Scouting.
On August 12, 1957, he married Loyce Eileen Youell Blevins at
Canton.
Survivors include: two daughters, Rosemary Chapman, Wichita, and
Kathy Bullcoming, Canton, Oklahoma; two sisters, Nadine Johannes,
Overland Park, and Donna Good, Olathe; five grandchildren, Felicia,
Jeremy, Jessica, and Justin Bullcoming, all of Canton, and Kelly
Chapman, Wichita; three great-grandchildren, Kayanne Bullcoming,
Canton, Andrew Chapman and Marissa Chapman, both of Wichita; many
nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Loyce, one son,
Robert, and one sister, Joann Hays.
Services were held at the United Methodist Church, Monday, November
8, 1999, with Rev. Chuck Gilbert officiating. Burial was in the
Cherryvale cemetery under the direction of Haigler Funeral Home.

Mission Fund, or to the Church building fund through the funeral
home.
Victor E. Sleeper
Victor E. Sleeper, 32, died March 17, 1996, north and west of
Harper, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born March 25, 1963, at Cadillac, Michigan, the son of
Jack and Maggie Elliott Sleeper. A longtime Harper resident, he
was a machinist for GEC Precision Corporation.
On September 8, 1984, he married Kelly Beadman at Anthony. She
survives.

sister, Jackie Canfield, Sundance, Wyoming; father and stepmother,
Jack and Barbara Sleeper, Anthony; mother and stepfather, Maggie
and Don McGowan, Phoenix, Arizona; grandparents, Mildred Sleeper,
Attica, and Harrison Elliott, Pratt; and great-grandmother, Lulu
Sleeper, Medicine Lodge.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 20, 1996, in the
Harper Cemetery, with Dr. Lee Louderback presiding. Elliott Funeral
Home, Harper, was in charge of arrangements.

RaeDeanna Mishelle Winchell
RaeDeanna Mishelle Winchell, 4, died October 15, 1994, at
Medicine Lodge Hospital.
She was born July 7, 1990, at Kiowa, the daughter of John
Edward Winchell and Bobby Jo Smith Crosby. A Medicine Lodge
resident, she was formerly of Kiowa.
She attended the United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge.
Survivors include: father and step mother, John and Cindy
Winchell, Medicine Lodge, mother, Bobby Jo Crosby, Medicine
Lodge; two stepsisters, Tiffany Lingg and Kelly Lingg, both
of Medicine Lodge; grandparents, Gary and Jean Winchell,
Kiowa, and Marion Sieger, Bandon, Oregon; and great-grandparents, Clovis Winchell, Wellington, Betty Brubaker,
Hutchinson, and Howard Bell, Cherokee, Oklahoma.

1994, in the Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa, with the Rev. Joe
Cobb presiding.

Jene Darlene Cline
Jene Darlene Cline, 69, died March 16, 1996, at Medicine
Lodge.
She was born July 28, 1926, in Mingona Township, the daughter
of A.T. and Joy Elizabeth Tedrow Elliott. She attended the Rural
School at District #10, Medicine Lodge High School and Texas
State College for Women at Denton, Texas. A lifetime Medicine
Lodge resident, she worked for South Central Telephone
Association for 31 years retiring in 1992.
She was a member of Lunch Bunch, Medicine Lodge.
On January 3, 1947, she married Carl Clarence Cline at Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma. He died in 1973.
Survivors include: a son, Steve, Rose Hill; two sisters, Marjorie
Mae Knight, Seattle, Washington, and Suzanne Randle, Lakewood,
Colorado; and two grandsons.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, March 20, 1996, at
Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. Tom Walters

C.W. 'Bill' Carroll
C.W. 'Bill' Carroll, 79, died July 23, 2000, at Via Christi
Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born Nobember 8, 1920, at Hoisington, the son of James
B. and Clariss Larkin Carroll. A Medicine Lodge resident since
1965, moving from Kiowa he was a ranch hand.
He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Medicine Lodge,
and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On November 26, 1965, he married Shriley J. Wiley McDonald
at Medicine Lodge. She survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, Bob McDonald, Medicine
Lodge, Bill McDonald, Pratt, Butch McDonald, Pratt and PeeWee
Carroll, Garden Plain; a brother, Pete, Hoisington; three sisters,
Geneva Carroll and Betty Smith, both of Hoisington, and Edith King,
Houma, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James S. Carroll; and two
sisters, Irene Hickey and Ruby Farnsworth.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, with the Revs. Tom Walters
and Steven Dezotell presiding. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery,
Kiowa.

Joseph Summers
Joseph David Summers, 63, died suddenly while at work at the
Helena, Oklahoma, Training School for Boys, Sunday evening, May
19. He had lived in Helena since 1959, where he owned and operated
a laundry as well as serving as a house parent at the Training
School.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 22, in the First
Methodist Church in Helena with Rev. Tom Wilson officiating.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. in the Highland cemetery
at Medicine Lodge, Kansas, under the direction of the Fossett
Funeral Home of Helena.
Summers was born at Chilicothe, Missouri, December 1, 1910,
but grew up in Medicine Lodge. He was married to Leota Fussell
in 1934 and she survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Robert E. of Enid and Dale of
Lubbock, Texas; a daughter Mrs. Curtis (Janet) Piersall, Helena;
two brothers, Roy of Ehernburg, Arizona, and L.R. of Chino,
California; two sisters, Myrtle Doran, Helena, and Maude Garman
of Cucamonga, California; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Two sons predeceased him.

Margaret N. Blick
Margaret N. Blick, 88, died February 6, 1999, at Halstead.
She was born January 29, 1911, at Sharon, the daughter of
Jacob and Anna Eck Ketzner. She was a homemaker and the
owner/operator of the Sharon Cafe.
She belonged to St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Altar
Society and Senior Citizens, all at Sharon.
On October 22, 1930, she married Roman Blick at Sharon.
He died January 12, 1993.
Survivors include: three sons, Victor, Attica, Roman Jr.
and Vernon, both of Sharon; four daughters, Vivian Moore,
Medicine Lodge, Joan Smith, Arnold, Nebraska, Marge Adams,
Lyons, and Mary Ann Buchta, Leeds, North Dakota; a sister,
Elizabeth Schreiner, Sharon; 20 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, February 10, 1999, at St.
Boniface Catholic Church, Sharon, with Father Anthony Suellentrop
presiding. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery, Sharon.

Metta L. Crow
Metta L. Crow, 85, died October 11, 1994, at Anthony.
She was born January 13, 1909, at Byron, Oklahoma, the
daughter of Edgar and Anna Flowers Folk. An Anthony
resident since 1963, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Anthony Christian Church.
On February 6, 1926, she married Elmer Arb at Medicine
Lodge. He died September 4, 1966. On August 5, 1973, she
married John Crow at Anthony. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: three daughters, Junia Dent, Larned,
Virginia Brown, Harper, and Carolyn Carpenter, Shawnee,
Colorado; a stepson, Merle Crow, Attica; a brother, Bud
Folk,, Manchester, Oklahoma; two sisters, Alma Puffinberger,
Waldron, and Myrtle Harrold, Pawhuska, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 15, 1994,
at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Anthony, with the Rev. John
Schnelle presiding. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery,
Anthony.

Matthew A. Vierthaler
Matthew A. Vierthaler, 68, died October 15, 1994, at St. Francis
Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 23, 1926, the son of Karl and Rose Theis
Vierthaler. A Wichita resident, he was a systems analyst at Lear
Jet, Wichita.
He was a Mason and a member of the Midian Shrine Temple, Wichita.
He was a U.S. veteran of World War II.
He married Carita Vierthaler. She survives.
Other survivors include: three brothers, Charles, Isabel, and Ben
and Bud, both of Wichita; and four sisters, Ann Becker, Downs,
Charlene Schaller, Nashville, Theresa Barnhart, McPherson, and Rose
Ann Adelhardt, Kingman.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 18, 1994, at Swisher-Taylor and Morris Funeral Home, Winfield, with Father Howard Kunkle
presiding. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Winfield.

Sylvia B. Vollbracht
Sylvia B. Vollbracht, 67, died March 28, 2001, at Gove
County Medical Center, Quinter.
She was born May 21, 1933, southeast of Grinnel in Gove
County on the family farm, the daughter of Raymond and
Vianna Eastlack Holaday. She attended Grinnell High School
and graduated in 1951. A lifetime Gove County resident, she
was a housewife and homemaker.
She was a member of Grinnell United Methodist Church,
Grinnell, and was a past member of Gove County EHU.
On February 22, 1952, in Oakley, she married David Vollbracht.
He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, David Vollbracht, Medicine
Lodge, Dennis Vollbracht, Hays, Duane Vollbracht, Grinnell; three
brothers, Raymond Holaday, Dennis Holaday, Oakley, William Holaday,
Haviland; two sisters, Viola Evans, Quinter, Beulah Brown, Sun
Lakes, Arizona; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Edmund
Holaday and Albert Holaday.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 2, 2001, at Grinnell
United Methodist Church, Grinnell, with Rev. Elin Colglazier
officiating. Interment was in Grinnell Township Cemetery, Grinnell.

Matt J. Wegerer
Matt J. Wegerer, 85, died June 26, 1994, at Pratt Regional
Medical Center.
He was born March 26, 1909, at St. Mark, the son of Alex
and Lena Stockemer Wegerer.
A longtime Kingman County resident, he was a retired farmer
and carpenter.
He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church and Knights of
Columbus Council No. 2774, both of St. Leo.
On May 14, 1935, he married Madalene Scripsick at Sharon.
She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Vernon, Rock Island,
Illinois, Duane, Burlington, Iowa, and Gary, Cunningham; a
daughter, Vivian Hensiek, Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a brother,
Edwin, Kingman; three sisters, Rosalyn Thome and Josephine
Albers, both of Cunningham, and Helen Young Pratt; and 10
grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, June 29, 1994, at St. Leo
Catholic Church, St. Leo, with Father John Miller presiding.
Burial was in the St. Leo Church Cemetery.

Jennifer Lynn Clouse
Jennifer Lynn Clouse, 20, died May 7, 1994, at rural Murdock.
She was born May 22, 1973, at Kingman, the daughter of John
and Linda Laverentz Clouse. A Zenda resident all her life, she
was a physical therapy major at Wichita State University.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the CYO,
both at Zenda, and the National Honor Society.
Survivors include: father John, Kingman; mother and step-father,
Linda and Ed Vierthaler, Milton; a brother, John, Milton; a sister,
Christina, Milton; and three grandmothers, Virginia Laverentz,
Nashville, Dorothy Clouse, Kingman, and Helen Vierthaler, Zenda.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 1994, at St.
Patrick's Catholic Church, Kingman, with Father John Miller presiding.
Burial was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Nashville.

Lillian Marie Graves
Lillian Marie Graves, 55, died October 11, 1994, at Harper
Hospital.
She was born January 27, 1939, at Hazelton, the daughter of
Robert and Ruby Baker Shumaker. A longtime Harper resident,
she was a nurse's aide and homemaker.
She was a member of Calvary Bible Baptist Church, Harper.
On October 3, 1975, she married James Graves at Anthony. He
survives.

a daughter, Christine Merrill, Yale, Oklahoma; two step-daughters,
Amy Eric, Las Vegas, and Michelle World, Owatonna, Minnesota;

California; two sisters, Linda Culver, Harper, and Loretta
Babcock, Attica; and six grandchildren.

Charlie Gant
Charlie Gant, 89, died September 29, 1994, at Medicine Lodge
Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 31, 1905, in Barber County, the son of
Joseph and Hattie Orilla King Gant. A lifetime Barber County
resident, he was a rancher.
He was a charter member of the Kansas Cutting Horse Association,
and the United Methodist Church at Medicine Lodge.
On September 3, 1930, he married Mildred Suhler at Nashville,
Kansas. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include: a son, Gaylord, Medicine Lodge; a daughter,
Charlene Larson, Medicine Lodge; a sister, Florence Pratt, Herington;
four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Highland
Cemetery, Medicine Lodge with the Rev. Joe Cobb and Steve Bryan
presiding.

Clifford Allen (Ted) Groendycke
Clifford Allen Groendycke was born in Barber County, Kansas,
January 6, 1899, and departed this life at the Medicine Lodge
Memorial Hospital on May 25, 1974, at the age of 75 years, 4
months, and 19 days.
He was one of five children born to Arthur T. and Emma
Groendycke. He grew up on a farm south of Medicine Lodge.
On August 21, 1923, he was united in marriage to Ruth Stout
in Medicine Lodge, and they settled on a farm south of town.
They are the parents of three children.
They moved into town in 1946 and purchased a dry cleaning
establishement which they operated until they retired.
Ted is survived by his wife, Ruth; one sister, Mrs. Muriel
Holmes, Sun City, Arizona; three brothres, Len, of Medicine
Lodge, Ralph of Topeka, and Jay, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one son,
Jack of Woodward, Oklahoma, and five granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dean, a daughter, Emma
Jean, and a brother, George.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28, at Forsyth Funeral
Home. Pastor Sam Crownover officiating. Burial was in Highland
Cemetery.
Mildred Anna "Millie" Vannaman Turner
Mildred Anna "Millie" Vannaman Turner, 86, died November 5, 1999,
at Kiowa Hospital District Manor, Kiowa.
She was born June 8, 1913, in rural Kiowa, the daughter of Bertie
R. and Hazel Pearl Stephens Vannaman. She attended Mound Center
Country School and graduated from Kiowa High School in 1932. A Kiowa
resident, formerly of Capron, Oklahoma, she was a homemaker and a
school cook at Capron for 20 years until the school closed in 1976.
She then served as a caregiver for several senior citizens in Kiowa,
Medicine Lodge, Cherokee and Alva, Oklahoma.
She attended the Senior Citizens of Alva, where she sang with the
Songbirds.
On May 14, 1935, she married John Otto Turner at Alva. He died
April 19, 1956.
Survivors include: two sons John Dee, LaVernia, Texas, and Lonnie
Ray, Yukon, OKlahoma; a daughter, Rosalyn Joy Gray, Capron; a brother,
Cecil Vannaman, Kiowa; a sister, Myrtle Schwanz, Gresham, Oregon; eight
grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Oliver Vannaman; two sisters,
Arlene Ruth Gillig and Velma Ellen Pro; and two twin great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at Kiowa
United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jan McDaniel presiding. Burial
was in Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa.

Fisher Funeral Home, Kiowa.
Jerry Lee Mayfield
Jerry Lee Mayfield, 35, died June 21, 1994, at his home in
Medicine Lodge.
He was born April 29, 1959, at Medicine Lodge, the son of
James L. and Joyzell Karp Mayfield. A Medicine Lodge resident
most of his life, he was a florist.
Survivors include: his parents, Medicine Lodge; a brother,
Jame R., Pratt; and a sister, Charlene, Medicine Lodge.
Graveside services were held Friday, June 25, 1994, at
Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, with Pastor Mike Shinkle
presiding.
Memorials may be sent to Southwind Hospice, in care of
Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge.
Mike Maes
Mike Maes, 51, died June 26, 1994, at Lincoln County
Hospital.
He was born November 16, 1942, at Great Bend, the son
of Joseph and Ellen Phelan Maes.
He was a former resident of Osborne, Plymoutn, Wisonsin,
Medicine Lodge, and Bushton.
He was a retired Ranch Manager, former Fall River Valley
Farms manager at Waldo , Wisconsin, currently living in
Lucas.
On November 3, 1962, he married Luanna Wood, in Bushton.
She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Joe, Chase; a daughter,
Denise Maes, Chase; three brothers, Patrick, Las Vegas,
Nevada, James, Salina, Dan, Great Bend; two sisters, Jo
Ellen Schroeder and Linda Huff both of Bushton; and two
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 29, 1994, at
Holy Name Catholic Church, Bushton, with Father James Roth
presiding. Burial was at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery,
Chase.
