Georgia May Raymond, 91, died March 10, 2001, at Cedar Crest
Manor, Medicine Lodge.
She was born February 28, 1910, at Holly, Colorado, the
daughter of Preston and Zelpha Johnson Raymond. A life long area
resident, she was a retail clerk at Hahn's and at Gamble's Store.
She belonged to United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge.
Survivors include: a sister, Marjorie (Marge) Myers, Medicine
Lodge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three infant brothers,
and two sisters, Alta Wright and Ruby Watkins.
Graveside services were held Monday, March 12, 2001, at Rose
Hill Cemetery, Hazelton.

Mildred Schiff Kimball
Mildred Schiff Kimball, 87, died October 12, 2000, at Cedar
Crest Manor, Medicine Lodge.
She was born July 12, 1913, at Sharon, the daughter of William
C. and Mary F. Reinke Schiff. She was a Medicine Lodge resident
since 1949 coming from the famiy farm at Sharon. She was a homemaker and also babysat for many families.
She was a member of Central View Church of God, Sharon.
On December 12, 1953, she married Claire E. Kimball at Golden,
Colorado. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a brother, Curtis Schiff, Medicine Lodge;
and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Emmitt, Kenneth
and Ellis Schiff; and a sister, Greta Lawrence.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 16, 2000, at Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, with Rev. Russell Stolp
presiding. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Robert E. Shore
Robert E. Shore, 83, died April 21, 2001, at Pratt Regional
Living Center, Pratt.
He was born October 27, 1917 at Coats, the son of Otis Irlin
and Florence Balding Shore. A Coats resident all his life, he
was a retired farmer and rancher.
He was a member of Coats United Methodist Church; Kilwinning
Lodge, Pratt. Served on board of NREC and Barber County Farm
Bureau Board; Elks Lodge, Pratt.
On July 27, 1940, at Newton, he married E. Lucille Monaghan.
She survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Lou Lynne Moss, Pratt;
a brother, Lewis Shore, Big Bow; a sister, Ella Catherine
Highfill, Wichita; two grandsons, Darin Bolen, Wichita, and
Jeff Bolen, Pratt.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Larrison
Mortuary, Pratt, with Rev. Kendal Utt presiding. Burial was at
Coats Cemetery, Coats.

Rosie B. Ditgen
Rosie B. Ditgen, 89, died April 14, 2001, at Attica Long
Term Care Facility, Attica.
She was born July 11, 1911 in McCracken, the daughter of
Peter J. and Anna Marak Dohm. She was a homemaker and retired
and moved to Sharon in 1977.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sharon,
and a member of the Altar Society.
On April 6, 1937 in Sharon, she married Julius 'Duke' Ditgen.
He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Larry, Harker Heights, Texas;
four sisters, Luella Tincher, Olathe, Anita Knight, Denver,
Colorado, Imelda Johnson and Pat Dohm, both of Kansas City,
Missouri; two grandchildren, Julius R. Ditgen and John Edward
Ditgen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and
four brothers.
Funeral service was held April 17, 2001, at St. Boniface
Catholic Church, Sharon. Interment was held at St. Boniface
Cemetery, Sharon.

Alice L. DeWitt Hall
Alice L. DeWitt Hall, 99, died June 19, 2000, at Presbyterian
Manor, Salina.
She was born April 8, 1901, at Sharon. An area resident for 60
years, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Smoky Valley
Genealogical Society, Member and President of Public Library
Board of Trustees, Charter Member Smoky Valley Engineers' Wives
Club, Chapter DL of PEO, Sisterhood Asbury - Salina Regional
Health Center and St. John's, Salina Auxiliary, the Current
Literature Club, and Rotaryanns.
Survivors include: a son, James M. Hall, III, Leawood; a
daughter, Mary A. Hall, Topeka; a sister, Ruth Mills, Medicine
Lodge; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Hall in
1985.
Memorial services were held Friday, June 23, 2000, at First
Presbyterian Church, Salina, with Rev. Thomas P. Reid presiding.
Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Laura Louise Aufleger
Laura Louise Aufleger, 83, died May 14, 2001 at Pratt Regional
Medical Center, Pratt.
She was born May 15, 1917, in Sharon, the daughter of George
A. and Christina L. Gangler Bauer. A lifetime resident of Sharon,
she was a farmer and homemaker.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and St. Boniface
Altar Society.
On October 12, 1937, she married Thomas Theodore Aufleger in
Sharon. He died September 15, 1973.
Survivors include: four daughters, Charlene Fischer, Sharon, Judy
Bender, Northglenn, Colorado, Peggy Evans, Kiowa, and Barbara
Shelite, Pratt; ten grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, William, Martin, Lawrence,
Joe and Aloysius Bauer.
The Altar Society Rosary will be held Wednesday, May 16, at St.
Boniface Catholic Church, Sharon, at 7:15 p.m., the vigil will
follow at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday,
May 17, 2001, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Anthony
Suellentrop presiding. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery,
Sharon.

Vincent 'Vince' B. McGuire
Vincent 'Vince' B. McGuire, 79, passed away September 25, 2000,
in Coalgate, Oklahoma.
He was born April 20, 1921 in Sharon, to Criss and Estella Farmer
McGuire. He had taught in Fullerton, California school district, was
a veteran of WWII and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners.
He married Alma Beatrice Hearrell on April 7, 1943 in San Barnardino,
California. She preceded him in death on June 1, 1995.
Survivors include: two sons, Vincent D. McGuire, Fullerton, California,
and Aaron D. McGuire, Placentia, California; two sisters, Vivian M.
McGuire, Medicine Lodge and Elinor M. Walton, Lyons; one brother, Powell
G. McGuire, Alva, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Ross Allen McGuire, Dallas,
Texas and Megan Anne Noyes, Orange, California; and special friend, Zona
Faye Davis, Coalgate.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alma, a son, Tommy,
and by five brothers, Homer, Gordon, Tom, Maurice and Marshall McGuire.
A memorial service was held Thursday, September 28, 2000, at Epperson
Funeral Chapel.
Lois I. Jacobs
Lois I. Jacobs, 86, died August 31, 2000, at Wheatlands Care
Center, Kingman.
She was born March 25, 1914, in Rochester Township, Kingman
County, the daughter of James W. and Estella Maude Wilcox Jacobs.
A longtime resident of Wichita, she was a retired elementary
school teacher, teaching at Fox Elementary in Attica, and Munger
and Isley schools in Wichita. She was one of the first remedial
reading teachers in the state of Kansas.
She belonged to College Hill United Methodist Church and the
Alpha Delta Kappa educational sororit, serving as its president
from 1955 to 1958.
Survivors include: a brother, Nelson, Medicine Lodge; a sister,
Orba Day, Attica; a nephew; and three nieces.
Funeral services were held Monday morning, September 4, 2000,
at College Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. George
Gardner presiding. Graveside service was held Monday, afternoon,
in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Zenda.

Church Library or to the Wheatlands Care Center, Kingman, both
in care of Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.
Carole J. Jester
Carole J. Jester, 57, died June 22, 2000, at Western Plains
Regional Hospital, Dodge City.
She wa born July 13, 1942, at Pratt, the daughter of Fred
and Irene Szabo Larkin. She attended schools at Lake City and
Sun City. A Dodge City resident since 1973, she worked as an
LPN at Trinity Manor for 10 years.
She belonged to Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dodge City.
On December 27, 1968, she married John Jester at Medicine
Lodge. He survives.
Other survivors include: her mother, Medicine Lodge; three
sons, Johhn Jr., Port Charlotte, Florida, Fred, Lawrence, and
Darin, Dodge City; a daughter, Stephanie Schraeder, Dodge City;
a brother, Kenneth Larkin, Medicine Lodge; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday morning, June 26, 2000, at
Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dodge City, with the Rev. Lewis Hoang
presiding. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, Monday
afternoon.

Unit, in care of Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.
Alice Ruby 'Ross' Humphrey
Alice Ruby "Ross" Humphrey, 98, died August 11, 2000, at Kiowa
Hospital District Manor; Kiowa.
She was born February 9, 1902, in Douglas County, Missouri, the
daughter of Calvin HOsea and Artie Mincie Hensley Ross. A resident
of Kiowa since 1921, she was a homemaker.
She attended United Methodist Church, Kiowa, and belonged to the
Iris Flower Clubs, the Kiowa Club and the Modern Woodmen.
On December 19, 1923, she married Tommy Ernest Humphrey at Anthony.
He died August 6, 1951.
Survivors include: two sisters, Georgia Harris, Wichita, and Willa
Johnson, Kiowa; and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Percy Donald, and an infant
son, Calvin; five brothers, Elmer Aaron, Olen Russell, Jesse Henry,
Everett Raymond and Lyle Garrett Ross; and three sisters, Mabel Claire
Davis, Ethel Proctor and Sibyl Davis.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 15, 2000, at United
Methodist Church, Kiowa, with the Rev. Charles Cryderman presiding.
Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa.

Evaline L. Clawson
Evaline L. Clawson, 97, died July 31, 2000, at Kingman
Hospital, Kingman.
She was born October 17, 1902, at Okarche, Oklahoma, the
daughter of Charles E. and Lucy E. Andrews Barnard. She
came to Kansas in 1905 by covered wagon to live near Medicine
Lodge, there she attended Walstead Grade School and graduated
from Medicine Lodge High School in 1921.
She taught school for 29 years. She got her first teaching
certificate from the State in 1921. She took extention courses
and summer schools from the College of Emporia and Kansas
University, her Bachelor Degree came from Northwestern State
College of Oklahoma in 1959. She taught in several Barber
County country schools, also Croft, Coldwater, Lake City and
Kiowa.
She belonged to First Christian Church, was Past Worthy
Matron of Order of Eastern Star, past president of Business
and Professional Women, past treasurer of the Retired Teacher's
Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Barber
County Historical Society and life member of the Kansas State
Teacher's Association.
In 1922, she married Albert C. Walker. They made their home
on a ranch west of Sun City. He preceded her in death. On August
3, 1950, she married Robert S. Clawson of Sun City. They made
their home there on a ranch for a few years, then moved to
Medicine Lodge. He also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Harold K. Walker, Milton-Freewater,
Oregon, Ervin G. Walker, Medicine Lodge; two stepsons, Marion A.
Clawson, Norwich; two brothers, Charles A. Barnard, Yelm, Washington,
and William E. Barnard, Medicine Lodge; two sisters, Alma Hoagland,
Pratt, and Geneva Wheat, Bella Vista, Arkansas; eight grandchildren;
18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Julia Knowles.
Her body was bequithed to the University of Kansas Medical School
at Kansas City. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Earl E. Harding
Earl E. Harding, 86, died August 9, 2000, at Pratt Regional
Medical Center, Pratt.
He was born July 25, 1914, at Nashville, the son of David E.
and Christine Suhler Harding. A Pratt resident for 15 years,
moving from Isabel, he was a farmer and a former Pratt County
assessor and school-bus driver.
He belonged to the Church of Christ and the Odd Fellows,
both at Isabel, and the Masonic Lodge, Medicine Lodge.
On August 6, 1932, he married Margaret B. Thompson at Medicine
Lodge. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, David, Moore, Oklahoma, and
Vernon, Wichita; three daughters, Evelyn Jessup, Fort Worth, Texas,
Shirley Wood Goulding, San Pedro, California, and Vicki Chinn, Pratt;
a sister, Delvania E. Guthrie, Tacoma, Washington; 15 grandchildren;
and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Leslie; and
a granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 12, 2000, at Larrison
Mortuary, Pratt, with John Hamm presiding. Burial was in Greenlawn
Cemetery, Pratt.

of the mortuary.
James O. Gilmore
James O. Gilmore, 71, died August 29, 1999, at the Veteran's
Hospital, Wichita.
He was born July 8, 1928, at Pratt, the son of John W. and Jesse
Lynn Gilmore. A Pratt resident for most of his life, he was a postal
clerk, working in the Pratt Post Office.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the national Guard
for 21 years.
On February 16, 1947, he married Maxine J. Moore at Pratt. She
survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Mike, Pratt; three daughters,
Marta Herndon, Pratt (formerly of Medicine Lodge), Marcy Allbritten,
Cairo, and Monica Reno, Mount Hope; a brother, William, Pratt; stepmother, Stella Gilmore, Pratt; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Roberta Nossaman and Carol
"Butch" Gilmore.
Graveside service was held Wednesday, September 1, 1999, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, with the Rev. Harold Wilcox presiding. Military
graveside honors were performed by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Cremation
preceded the service.

Leora A. Casner
Leora A. Casner, 88, died July 16, 1999, at her home
northeast of Milton.
She was born October 1, 1910, at Clearwater, the daughter
of Frank M. and Minnie Seitz Barnes.
She attended school at Wichita, graduated from Wichita
East High School in 1929 and from Wichita State University
in 1933 with a degree in physical education.
She worked for the Wichita Recreation Department before
teaching physical education at Medicine Lodge.
She belonged to United Methodist Church, Milton, the
United Methodist Kansas West Annual Conference, United
Methodist Women, the Kansas District YWCA and the Grandmother's Club.
On August 9, 1936, she married Bob Casner at Wichita.
He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jack, Milton; a brother,
Lynford Barnes, Wichita; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 19, 1999, at
United Methodist Church, Milton, with the Revs. Eugene
Wilson and Cecil Lilliston presiding. Burial was in Eden
Cemetery, Milton.

Shirley L. Nickell
Shirley L. Nickell, 67, died May 7, 2001, at Hutchinson
Hospital, Hutchinson.
She was born February 19, 1934, in Medicine Lodge, the
daughter of Arthur and Bertha May Snyder Ash. She had
lived in Medicine Lodge most of her life. She was operator
and clerk at Isaiahs Thrift Shop, Medicine Lodge.
On May 15, 1951, she married Bob L. Nickell. He died
November 20, 1985.
Survivors include: a son, Robert Nickell, Arlington; two
daughters, Kathy Thomas, Woodward, Oklahoma, and Christy
Jacobs, Medicine Lodge; two brothers, Bob ash, Anthony, and
Raymond Ash, Great Bend; a sister, Betty Hargus, Petersburg,
Indiana; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 10, 2001, at the
Restoration Church, Medicine Lodge, with Mike Shinkle and
Jay Morford presiding. Burial was in Highland Cemetery,
Medicine Lodge.

Bonnie M. Evans
Bonnie Mae Evans, 46, died August 13, 1999, at Wesley Medical
Center, Wichita.
She was born November 26, 1952, at Attica, the daughter of
Russel R. and Ethel Hess Roberts. She grew up in Attica and
graduated from Attica High School. She was a Boeing Aircraft
Assembly worker.
On May 5, 1995, she married Billy R. Evans at Kingman. He
died June 20, 1998.
Survivors include: two sons, Daniel Helm and Lee Hamilton
Jr., both of Harper; a daughter, Jennifer DuVall and her
husband Thad, Harper; her mother, Harper; three brothers,
Wade Roberts, Marlow, Oklahoma, Dale Roberts, Duncan, Oklahoma,
and Bruce Roberts, Medicine Lodge; a sister, Della Helm, Enid,
Oklahoma; two half brothers, Russel Dean Roberts, Wichita and
Denny Roberts, Ponca City, Oklahoma; and two half sisters,
Charlene Hibbard, Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Floy Barker, Mesquite,
Texas; and four grandchildren, Brittany DuVall, Miranda DuVall,
Erika DuVall and Jacob Quigg.
She was preceded in death by her father, and a sister, Beverly
Hammack.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 16, 1999, in Pleasant
Valley Mennonite Church, Harper, with Pastor Royce Vogt presiding.
Special songs of Bonnie's were played and Reannon Smoker sang
a special selection. Interment was in Attica Cemetery.

Hulda Katie Emilie Winter Lampe
Hulda Katie Emilie Winter Lampe, 82, died April 9, 2001,
at her home in Nashville.
She was born October 21, 1918 in Nashville, Kansas, the
daughter of William and Elizabeth Bargfreded Winter. She
was a lifetime resident of Nashville and a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lutheran
Ladies Aid, and Dorcus Society, all in Nashville.
On October 21, 1938 i Nashville, she married Alvin G.
Lampe. He died October 14, 1989.
Survivors include: a son, Leroy Lampe, Argonia; a daughter,
Venora Mease, Pratt; a brother, Alvin Winter, Wichita; two
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rhonda; sisters,
Selma, Esther, and Margaret; brothers, Walter, William, Herman,
and Henry.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 1 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, 9 a.m.,
to 8 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 12, 2001,
at St. John's Lutheran Church, Nashville, with Rev. Paul Beyer
officiation. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemtery,
Nashville.

Michael J. Haas, 24, Norfolk, Virginia, died April 11, 2001,
at Wilford Hall Medical Center - Lackland Air Force Base, San
Antonio, Texas, of leukemia.
He was born October 25, 1976, at Marshalltown, Iowa, the son
of K. Mark Haas and Rhita J. Freeland Haas. He grew up in
Medicine Lodge, moving to Norfolk six months ago. He received
his GED from Medicine Lodge High School. He received two years
of college education from Pratt Community College and the U.S.
Navy.
He as on active duty with the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS
Kauffman as a sonar technician.
He belonged to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Norfolk, Virginia.
On December 28, 200, he married Shelly R. Wetli at Norfolk.
She survives.
Other survivors include: his father, Pratt; his mother, Medicine
Lodge; a brother, Mike E., Medicine Lodge; a sister, Kendra Medhus,
Reinbeck, Iowa; two grandmothers, Mary Lou Freland, Baxter, Iowa,
and Violet Haas, Sharon.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Gledsoe, maternal
grandfather, Charles Freland, maternal step-grandfather, Jim Freland,
and paternal grandfather, Kenneth Haas.
Funeral Mass was Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, Newton, Iowa, with Father Phil Cardenzana, Parochial Vicar
of Sacred Heart Catholic Church presiding. Burial was in Ashton
Chapel Cemetery in rural Mingo, Iowa.

Edith B. Hindman
Edith B. Hindman, 79, died August 31, 1999, at Medicine Lodge
Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge.
She was born May 7, 1920, at Weir, the daughter of Wesley E.
and Henrietta C. Littrell Smith. A Medicine Lodge resident since
1946, moving from Pittsburg, she had retired as a clerk from the
Medicine Lodge Stockade.
She belonged to Assembly of God Church, Medicine Lodge.
On January 6, 1938, she married James F. Hindman at Columbus.
He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a son, James D., Medicine Lodge; two daughters,
Jo Broughman, Medicine Lodge, and Sharon Knoll, Hoisington; a brother
Elmer Smith, Pittsburg; a sister, Mildred Orender, Pittsburg; 11
grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray Francis Smith, Lloyd
Dean Smith, Clarence Jasper Smith, Ernie Smith; three sisters, Sylvia
Pearl Hulbert, Florence Rentfro, Myrtle Baumman; and a granddaughter,
Theresa Joann Hindman.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 4, 1999, at Assembly
of God Church, Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. Arthur Sorg presiding.
Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Iva Merrill Nix Stanley
Iva Merrill Nix Stanley, 79, Hugoton, died Sunday, April
29, 2001, at Medicine Lodge.
She was born July 5, 1921 in Stevens County, the daughter
of Austin and Ella Landess Florence. She was a lifetime
resident and a homemaker. She worked for Southwestern Bell
Telephone Company as an operator until 1958, when she retired.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Hugoton.
On November 28, 1953, she married Homer G. Nix. He died
February 4, 1991. She then married Charles M. Stanley, August
8, 1992. He died June 19, 1997.
Edna M. Davis
Edna M. Davis, 88, died April 20, 2001, at Pratt Regional
Living Center, Pratt.
She was born March 6, 1913 at Sun City, the daughter of
Arthur Clyde and Flora Kaminska Humeston. A Sun City
resident most of her life, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sun City Baptist Church.
On February 9, 1929, she married Oliver W. Davis. He died
December 1979.
Survivors include: a son, Gary Davis, Spearman, Texas; two
daughters, Vivian Sims, Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Marilyn
Holmes, Pratt; two sisters, Mary Hoss, Potwin, and Lucille
McKnight, Lubbock, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.
Graveside services were held Monday, April 23, 2001, at Sunnyside Cemetery, Sun City.
Vivian Porter
Vivian Porter, 85, died July 3, 1999, at Cedar Crest Manor,
Medicine Lodge.
She was born September 18, 1913, at Galt, Missouri, the daughter
of Abraham L. and Hortense Payne Tolle. A resident of Isabel since
1983, moving from Galt, Missouri, she was a bookkeeper for the Galt
school system.
On June 1, 1935, she married Paul James Porter at Trenton, Missouri.
He died in 1979.
Survivors include: a daughter, Paula S. Porter, Fort Pierce, Florida;
and a sister, Mary R. Lynch, Isabel.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude and Dr. Sam Tolle;
and a sister, Irene Omer.
Graveside service was held Wednesday, July 7, 1999, in Galt West
Cemetery, Galt, Missouri, with the Rev. Gene Schreffler presiding.
Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, was in charge of
arrangements.
Lyndell Rose Young
Lyndell Rose Young, 86, died April 28, 2001, at her home
in Sawyer.
She was born December 6, 1914, at Sawyer, the daughter of
Leo and Bertha Lena Combs Rose. A lifetime Sawyer resident,
she had taught school at Aetna and served on the election
board and Census Bureau. She had worked at Pratt Air Base
in photography department.
She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist, Pratt. A
former member of Stitch and Chatter Club, Garden Club,
Social Benefit Club.
On June 14, 1941 at Fort Scott, she married Virgil F.
Young, Jr. He died September 26, 1990.
Survivors include: a son, Stanton L. Young, Sunflower
Ranch, Sawyer; a daughter, Nola Beth Swope, Zenda; and
three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Cook.
Graveside services were held Monday, April 30, 2001,
with Pastor Dennis Berlin, at Ellenwood Cemetery, Sawyer.
Memorials may be made to South Wind Hospice in care of
Larris Mortuary, Pratt.
Norma LoVae Maier
Norma LoVae Maier, 80, died May 17, 2001, at Hilltop Manor,
Cunningham.
She was born October 17, 1920 at Kansas City, Missouri, the
daughter of Louis and Jessie M. Schooler Parr. She was a Pratt
resident since 1983. She graduated from St. Luke's School of
Nursing of Denver. She was a Registered Nurse and worked in
numerous hospitals and nursing homes in southcentral Kansas.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge.
She was married first to John F. Skulavik and then to Leon
J. Maier. Both preceded her in death.
Survivors include: sons, Gary L. Maier, Pratt, and John L.
Skulavik, Huntington, California; daughter, Carolyn Keller,
Augusta; stepdaughters, Paulette Carlberg, Santa Anna,
California, and Carol Watson, Leon; sister, Bonnie Bailey,
Eatonville, Washington; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 21, 2001, at Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, with Rev. Tom Walters
presiding. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.
Memorials may be sent to Pratt Community College Nursing
Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
