Carolyn Jane Cavin Collins
Carolyn Jane Cavin Collins, died January 24, 1998, at her home at Cole
Camp, Missouri.
She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 21, 1939. She was chosen
and lovingly adopted into the home of Leaford H. and Genievieve Cook
Cavin at the age of six weeks. She accepted Christ at the age of seven
years and was baptized soon after. Her father pastored many Baptist
Churches in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
She was a member of the Grain Valley Baptist Church, Cole Camp, Missouri.
Survivors include: husband, Denny Collins, of the home; two sons, Todd
and Randy, Missouri; two daughters, Ronda Roman and husband Scott, Blue
Springs, Missouri, Robyn, Wichita; grandson, Adam, Blue Springs, Missouri;
granddaughter, Rachel, Missouri; one Unvle Harold Cavin and wife Margaret,
El Reno, Oklahoma; Aunts Ann Cavin, Waikoloa, Hawaii, and Maxine Cavin,
Springfield, Missouri; several cousins and a host of friends.
Memorial services will be held at Faith Baptist Church, Attica, on
Saturday, March 7, 1998, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dean Cavin officiating. Interment
Attica Cemetery.
David James Dewberry
David James Dewberry, 39, died Nov. 8, 1997, at his home in Great
Bend.
He was born July 16, 1958, at Ft. Pierce, Fla., the son of Elbert
"Red" and Barbara Joan Gillette Dewberry. A longtime resident of
Great Bend, he was a fork lift driver for Fuller Brush, Great Bend.
He belonged to First Church of God, Great Bend. He served in the
U.S. Army.
On Dec. 19, 1994, he married Jacqueline Sue Davis at Great Bend.
She survives.
Other survivors include: step-mother, Edith Dewberry, Larned;
three sisters, Linda Lemuz, Larned, Dee Blair, Russell, and Pat
White, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Red and Barbara Dewberry;
and a brother, Elbert.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at First Church of
God, Great Bend, with the Rev. Dick Ogle presiding. Burial will be
at a later date.

Roy Dodds
Roy Dodds, 75, died March 2, 1998, at Kiowa District Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1922, in rural Dallas, South Dakota, the son of
George and Julia M. Chittick Dodds. A Kiowa resident since 1963, moving
from Lyman, Nebraska, he was a farm and ranch hand.
He was a member of United Methodist Church and American Ldgion, both
at Kiowa.
On December 29, 1945, he married Lenora J. Jerred at Gering, Nebraska.
She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dennis, Augusta, and Rollie, Kiowa;
a daughter, Pam Cox, Kiowa; a brother, Fred, Lake Isabella, California;
a sister, Mabel Heitman, Anaheim, California; eight grandchildren; and a
great-grandson.
Funeral services were held Thursday March 5, 1998, at Kiowa United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Dyar presiding. Burial was in Riverview
Cemetery, Kiowa.

Thelma L. Golding
Thelma L. Golding, 85, died May 12, 1998, at her home in Portland,
Oregon.
She was born February 2, 1913, at Medicine Lodge, the daughter of Henry
L. and Lottie Wilson Page. A Portland resident for 57 years, she was an
accountant, retiring in 1980.
Survivors include: a sister, Elen Barger, Canby, Oregon; and a nephew,
Richard Page, Mr. Vernon, Oregon; and several cousins.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 19, 1998, in Highland Cemetery,
Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. Russell Stolp presiding.

Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge.
Marion J. Green
Marion J. Green, 76, died January 6, 1998, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born April 20, 1921, at Lima, Ohio, the son of Marion D.
and Christina Huber Green. A Medicine Lodge resident for 47 years,
moving to Pittsburg, Kansas, he was a retired mechanic for National
Gypsum, Medicine Lodge.
He belonged to First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, and was a
U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
On August 23, 1945, he married Joan Williams at Arcadia. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Michael D. Green, Medicine Lodge; a
daughter, Cherly Holt, Medicine Lodge; a brother, Frederic E. Green,
Port Huron, Michigan; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Cremation is planned. Private service will be held at a later time.
Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, was in charge of
arrangements.
F. Oren Gerdes
F. Oren Gerdes, 92, died January 27, 1998, at Attica Long Term Care
Facility.
He was born October 31, 1905, at Amorita, Oklahoma, the son of Fred
and Cora Campbell Gerdes. He was a retired farmer.
He belonged to St. John Lutheran Church, Nashville.
On January 30, 1933, he married Norma Hufford at Anthony. She died
September 11, 1970.
Survivors include: a son, Fred, Attica; a daughter, Myra Dick, Isabel;
a brother, John, Wichita; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 30, 1998, at Elliott Funeral
Home, Harper, with Pastor Paul Beyer presiding. Burial was in Harper
Cemetery.

Term Care Facility, both in care of the funeral home.
Mary Rosella Heflin
Mary Rosella Heflin, 76, died January 6, 1998, at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
She was born May 6, 1921, at Anthony, the daughter of Morton and Gladys
M. Lippincott Mallonee. She was a 1941 graduate of Pratt High School. A
lifetime Pratt area resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to First Church of God, Pratt, the HEU Centennial Garden
Club, the Art Club, the Craft Club and the Pratt Historical Museum, and
was a 4-H project leader.
On February 18, 1940, she married Charles A. Heflin. He died August 7,
1997.
Survivors include: three sons, Ronald D., Pratt, and Roger A. and
Raymond L., both of Wichita; seven daughters, Vina M. Woodward, Cunningham,
Linda S. Haworth and Roberta I. Mayes, both of Pratt, Nancy L. Brown,
Wichita, Doris A. Williams, Kansas City, Missouri, Rosemary Reed, Medicine
Lodge, and Ruth J. Heflin, Stillwater, Oklahoma; 21 grandchildren; and 35
great grandchildren.
Cremation took place.
Memorial service was held Friday, January 9, 1998,
at First Church of God, Pratt, with the Rev. Douglas J. Enick presiding.

Peggy Eileen Hoagland
Peggy Eileen Hoagland, 66, died January 29, 1998, at Southwest Medical
Center, LIberal.
She was born July 8, 1931, at Kaw City, Oklahoma, the daughter of J.O.
and Madey Moonhey Stambaugh. A Liberal resident since 1965, coming from
Dodge City, she worked for Southwest Medical Center as a registered
nurse and retired from there in 1996.
On April 3, 1965, she married Bill Hoagland at Medicine Lodge. He died
November 9, 1985.
Survivors include: three sons, David Burns, Curtis Burns and Clifford
Hoagland, all of Liberal; a daughter, Barbara Burns, Liberal; mother,
Ponca City, Oklahoma; and two granddaughters, Kelsey McGehee and Mehgan
McGehee.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 2, 1998, at Kitch Funeral
Home, Liberal, with Pastor Michael Ide presiding. Burial was in Liberal
City Cemetery.

Freda I. Hartzell
Freda I. Hartzell, 72, died February 12, 1998, at Pratt Regional Medical
Center.
She was born June 5, 1925, at Isabel, the daughter of Fred and Mary R.
Cullison Hamilton. A Medicine Lodge resident most of her life, she was a
homemaker.
She belonged to First Presbyterian Church, Medicine Lodge.
On July 21, 1942, she married Kenneth M. Hartzell at Alva, Oklahoma.
He died September 10, 1989.
Survivors include: a son, John M. Hartzell, Winfield; two daughters,
Marie Hopkins, Medicine Lodge, and Evelyn Johnson, Mulvane; a brother,
John Hamilton, Laverne, Oklahoma; six sisters, Edith Powell, Albuquerque,
New Mexico, Helen Curnutte, Grants, New Mexico, E.A. "Van" Mitchell,
Medicine Lodge, Margaret Scott, Wichita, Donna Ash, Anthony, and Bonnie
Mease, Grand Junction, Colorado; and four grandchildren.

was in Highland Cemetery.
Nellie L. Houston
Nellie L. Houston, 96, died February 26, 1998, at the Share Nursing
Home, Alva, Oklahoma.
She was born March 11, 1901, in Barber County, the daughter of Edgar
and Mattie M. Wood Sullivan. A lifetime Barber County resident, she was
a homemaker.
She belonged to the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist
Women and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge,
all at Hardtner.
On April 18, 1923, she married Homer Lee Houston Sr. at Medicine Lodge.
He died March 7, 1981.
Survivors include: a son, Donald "Buck" Houston, Emporia; a sister, Lela
Murphy, Girard; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 1, 1998, at the United Methodist
Church, Hardtner, with the Rev. Lew Van Der Wege presiding. Burial was in
Hardtner Cemetery.

Glen Elvin Hanson
Glen Elvin Hanson, 85, died February 24, 1998, at Medicine Lodge
Memorial
Hospital.
He was born on July 5, 1912 at Pawnee Rock, the son of Axel and Mae E.
Nelson Hanson. He was a first generation American born on the family farm,
to Swedish immigrants. A resident of Medicine Lodge since 1951, formerly
of St. John, he was the owner and operator of Hanson's Dry Goods Store in
Medicine Lodge. The store closed in 1962. He retired from the Post Office
after 16 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge, and
worked on various church committees. He was a past president of the Medicine
Lodge Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club.
On January 12, 1936, he married Lena I. Schultz at Pawnee Rock. She
survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Alan, Pratt, Jerry, Silverthorne,
Colorado, and Kent, Lyons; a daughter, Doris Cooper, Saratoga, California;
a brother, Amil, Great Bend; two sisters, Freda Still, Great Bend, and
Bernice Kifkpatrick, Appleton, Wisconsin; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 27, 1998, at the United
Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. Jim Goodbey presiding.
Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.

Flossie Marie Hickle
Flossie Marie Hickle, 93, died May 15, 1998, at Friendship Manor, Pratt.
She was born October 4, 1904, at Eureka, the daughter of Oscar W. and
Blanche Waller Criss. A longtime Pratt area resident, formerly of Cullison,
she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Cullison Community Church.
On June 14, 1924, she married George W. Hickle at Medicine Lodge. He died
October 18, 1985.
Survivors include: three nephews.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 19, 1998 in Sunset Cemetery,
Cullison.

George Jaso
George Jaso, 73, died Nov. 4, 1997, at Via Christi Regional Medical
Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born Nov. 17, 1923, at Kiowa, the son of Musio and Paubla
Morena Jaso. A Ulysses resident since 1972, moving from Kiowa, he was
retired from Columbian Chemical Co.
He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Kiowa, and
the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Other survivors include: two sons, Donald and Darren Mills, both of
Ulysses; a daughter, Debra Mitchell, Ulysses; two sisters, Maria Valesquez,
Wellington, and Veta Ruiz, Kiowa; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at St. John the
Apostle Catholic Church, Kiowa, with Father Anthony Suellentrop
presiding. Cremation is planned.

Lela Wacker Jones, 89, died January 18, 1998, at Pratt

She was born June 12, 1908, in Harper County, the daughter of
George and Sarah Sparkman Laurie. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to United Methodist Church, Argonia.
On August 6, 1930, she married Walter Wacker. He died June 24, 1970.
Survivors include: a daughter, Wilda Williams, Kiowa; a brother,
Loran Laurie, Derby; a sister, Letha Pickell, Welasco, Texas; three
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 21, 1998, at United
Methodist Church, Argonia, with Pastors Bob Smith and Bill Dyar

Helenmae Johnson
Helenmae Johnson, 91, died January 26, 1998, at Hutchinson.
She was born August 2, 1906, at Huntington, West Virginia, the
daughter of Frank and Margaret M. Moore Pearce. A Hutchinson
resident since 1976, formerly of Kiowa, Claflin, Hays and Sterling,
she was a musician, piano teacher and church organist.
She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and
was a past matron of Order of Eastern Star.
On July 14, 1930, she married David F. Johnson at Hutchinson. He
survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Frank Johnson, Winfield; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Norma Mae Janson
Norma Mae Janson, 73, died February 26, 1998, at Halsey Hall, Fort
Dodge.
She was born September 11, 1924, the daughter of Ollie and Emma
Shellenberger Millwee. A Dodge City resident since 1986, formerly of
Sun City, she was a homemaker.
On June 26, 1940, she married Allen Howard Janson at Pratt. He died
April 11, 1985.
Survivors include: a son, Terry, Dodge City; five brothers, Ray
Millwee, Denver, Clayton Millwee, Phoenix, Clyde Millwee, Los Lunas,
New Mexico, Alfred Stratton, Pueblo, Colorado, and Nelvis Stratton,
Bakersfield, California; two sisters, Mona Ransey, Byron, Oklahoma,
and Iris Hunt, Taloga, Oklahoma, nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Jean King.

James W. Jacobs
James W. Jacobs, 80, died March 2, 1998, at Kingman Community Hospital.
He was born September 28, 1917, at Rochester Township, Kingman County,
the son of James W. and Estella Maude Wilcox Jacobs. A lifetime Zenda
resident, he was a retired farmer and stockman.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Zenda-Nashville Lions
Club, a former Zenda 4-H Club leader, Zenda High School Board, Zenda
Grain and Supply and 55 year member of Zenda Masonic Lodge, all of Zenda,
Kansas Livestock Association, former member of Pleasant Hill School Board,
former Kingman County director for South Central Kansas Farm Management
Association, fomer member of Kingman County Extension Council, former
board member of Ninnescah Rural Electric Co-op, Pratt, and Harper Masonic
Lodge No. 206 A.F.& A.M.
On June 1, 1947, he married Mildred E. Shore at Norwich. She died May
17, 1986. On October 7, 1987, he married Rosalie Fitzsimmons Alexander
at Burlington, Colorado. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jim, Holton; a daughter, Karen Powell,
Kingman; a stepson, Jeff Alexander, Pratt; two stepdaughters, Carol
Thompson, Omaha, Nebraska and LeAnn Friedrichs, Goodland; a brother, Nelson,
Medicine Lodge; two sisters, Lois I. Jacobs, Wichita, and Orba Day, Attica;
three grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Livingston Funeral
Home, Kingman, with Pastor Mike McGovney presiding. Graveside service was
held Wednesday afternoon in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Zenda.

Selma E. Keimig
Selma E. Keimig, 89, Wichita, died December 8, 1997, at Riverside Hospital,
Wichita.
She was born July 20, 1908, the daughter of Moritz and Emma Schindler, at
Dortmond, Germany. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: a son, Alan Keimig, Wichita; a daughter, Verene Fromm,
Wichita; a brother, Paul Schindler, Mountain Home, Arkansas; a sister, Freida
Walker, Hermiston, Oregon; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Katherine Francis Kendall, 85, died January 29, 1998, at Via Christi

She was born May 17, 1912, at Kiowa, the daughter of Joe B. and Zella
Peebles Kendall. A longtime Kiowa resident, formerly of Meade and Greensburg, she was a piano teacher, seamstress and linotype operator.
She belonged to First Christian Church, Kiowa, taught Sunday School
class for 50 years and played the organ.
Survivors include: two sisters, Ruth McCarty, Bucklin, and Dorothy
Clark, Yuma, Arizona; and two nieces, Helen Kesler, Lakin and Nancy
Bridges, St. Charles, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 31, 1998, at First
Christian Church, Kiowa, wiht Leonne Worcester presiding. Burial was
in Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony.

Evelyn Howard Kidd
Evelyn Howard Kidd, 86, died February 4, 1998, at Medicine Lodge
Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 6, 1911, at Amorita, Oklahoma, the daughter of
George and Lula Bell Clepper Pearce. A longtime Kansas resident, she
was a homemaker.
She belonged to First Christian Church and was a former member of
Home Demonstration Unit, both of Medicine Lodge.
She married Henry K. Howard. He died in 1974. She married Orlan
Kid. He died in 1992.
Survivors include: a son, Gordon Howard, Eugene, Oregon; four
daughters, Wilma Kusch, Fairview, Oklahoma, Mae Rodgers, Medicine Lodge,
Ruth Thomas, Sharon, and Pattie Tate, Conroe, Texas; a sister, Fern
Moomau, Medicine Lodge; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and
eight great-great-grandchildren.

Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. Tom Walters presiding.

Luella Kirkland
Luella Kirkland, 72, died February 13, 1998, at Western Plains Medical
Complex, Dodge City.
She was born November 3, 1925, at Sun City, the daughter of Harvey
Edward and Norma N. Plemmons Cirkel. A graduate of Cunningham High School,
she was a longtime resident of Dodge City, working as a bookkeeper for
Winnies Welding; Orkin; Jones Packing, and Dr. Beaver's office, all at
Dodge City.
She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, at Dodge City, and
was very active in the Boy Scouts of America.
On July 31, 1948, she married Ike Kirkland at Dodge City. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Marion, Sierra Vista, Arizona,
Phillip, St. John, and Vaughn, Topeka; a daughter, Paula Killian, Dodge
City; a brother, Lyle Cirkel, Jacksonville, Texas; and five grandsons.

Home, Dodge City, with Don Schultz presiding. Burial was in Maple Grove
Cemetery, Dodge City.

Doris Jean Twyman Kernohan
Doris Jean Twyman Kernohan, 74, died February 26, 1998, at Halstead.
She was born April 29, 1923, at Nashville, Kansas, the daughter of
George Emery and Lottie Estella Champion Twyman. A rural Zenda resident,
she was a farmer and homemaker.
She belonged to the United Methodist Church, Attica, the Keystone Merry
Makers and the Ridge Flower Club.
On August 29, 1943, she married Max Kernohan. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Robert Kernohan, Celina, Texas, and
Pat Kernohan, Attica; three daughters, Betty Green DeVoe, Zenda, Mary
Goemann, Pratt, and Debra Allen, Clearwater; a brother, Ralph Twyman,
Wichita; two sister, Marian Winter and Ruby Zahourek, both of Wichita;
12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Ann Lambert
Dorothy Ann Lambert, 72, died Aug. 19, 1997, at Friendship Manor,
Pratt.
She was born March 29, 1925, at Paris, Mo., the daughter of
Benjamin and Alberta Matthews Young. A Pratt resident, formerly of
Lake City, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Lake City United Methodist Church.
On Sept. 16, 1951, she married Wilbur M. Lambert at Paris, Mo.
He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Ronald L. Lambert, Lake City; and
a grandson, Rhett L. Lambert.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 22, 1997, at Ayres-Calbeck
Mortuary, Pratt, with the Rev. Chris Miller presiding. Burial was in

Lois Hope Ledford
Lois Hope Ledford, 82, died February 5, 1998, at Medicine Lodge
Memorial Hospital.
She was born February 7, 1915, at Coats, the daughter of George
and Kittie Cooke Lockert. A resident of Lake City for most of her
life, she was a manager for Lake City Telephone Exchange.
She was a member of Lake City Methodist Church and WCA of the
Church.
On January 2, 1950, she married Cecil E. Ledford at Coats. He
died February 13, 1991.
Survivors include: several cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday February 9, 1998, at Larrison-
Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, with the Rev. Chris Miller
presiding. Burial was in Lake City Cemetery.

Sandra Jean Hill Lynch
Sandra Jean Hill Lynch died at her home in Grand Junction, Colorado,
on February 3, 1998.
She was the daughter of Bonnie and Joe Hill and was born in Wichita,
moving to Medicine Lodge when she was three. She graduated from Medicine
Lodge High School.
Survivors include: her husband, George Lynch, of Grand Junction; her
mother, Bonnie Hill of Collbran, Colorado; two sons, Chris Wiens of
Nixa, Missouri, and Brian Wiens of Fort Collins, Colorado; a brother,
Park Hill of Canon City, Colorado; two sister, Gailen Schmide of Collbran,
Colorado, Joan Carlson of Pueblo, Colorado; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in Grand Junction, Colorado, on February
6, 1998. Donations to charity of choice.
Ruby A. Lumpkin
Ruby A. Lumpkin, 91, died February 28, 1998, at Friendship Manor, Kiowa.
She was born June 8, 1906, at Agra, the daughter of Walton H. and Becky
Thompson Wilson. A Kiowa resident since 1993, she had moved from Roswell,
New Mexico, after living in nearly 40 different locations. She was an artist,
a seamstress, and a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and the Order of Eastern
Star at Colby.
On February 26, 1923, she married Frank Kent Lumpkin in Phillips County.
He died September 27, 1994.
Survivors include: a son, Howard "Kent" Lumpkin, Roswell; a daughter,
Pauline Wetz, Kiowa; a brother Woodrow Wilson, Kansas City, Kansas; seven
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and thre great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials service was held Saturday, March 7, 1998, at the Congregational
United Church of Christ, Kiowa, with the Rev. Virgie Davis presiding. The
body has been cremated.

Home, Kiowa.
Eva A. McComb
Eva A. McComb, 92, died Nov. 8, 1997, at her home in Zenith.
She was born July 3, 1905, in southwest Reno County, the
daughter of William and Isabella Nicholson Brownlee. She attended
Kansas State University, Manhattan. A lifetime Zenith area resident,
she was a homemaker and taught in a one-room schoolhouse.
On May 16, 1930, she married Mason McComb at Medicine Lodge. He
died April 7, 1977.
Survivors include: four daughters, Carol Roberts, Pocatello, Idaho,
Virginia Elliott, Zenith, Evangeline Wendelburg, Stafford, and Linda
Rathbun, Evergreen, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and 13, great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997,
at Zenith Community Church with the Rev. Guy Elliott presiding.
Burial will be in Stafford Cemetery.

Ruth E. Montgomery
Ruth E. Montgomery, 79, died January 22, 1998, at Medicine Lodge.
She was born December 20, 1918, at Medicine Lodge, the daughter
of Roy T. and Della M. Jester Phillips. A Medicine Lodge resident
since 1987, formerly of Pakistan and Jordan, she was a missionary.
She belonged to First Baptist Church, Medicine Lodge.
On June 8, 1947, she married Robert 'Bob' Montgomery at Sun City.
He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Bruce, Minneapolis, Minnesota,
and Ray, Leslieville, Alberta, Canada; two daughters, Beth Hazard,
Joshua Tree, California, and Joy Briethaupt, Freemont, Nebraska; 10
grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 27, 1998, at First
Baptist Church, Medicine Lodge, with Pastors Bruce and Roy Montgomery
and Russell Stolp presiding. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine
Lodge.

Nellie V. Molz
Nellie V. Molz, 95, died February 8, 1998, at Friendship Manor, Kiowa.
She was born February 14, 1902, in Oklahoma Territory, Woods County,
the daugher of George W. and Minerva A. Landrie Hardin. A lifetime
resident of the Hardtner area, she was a teacher and a homemaker.
She belonged to St. John's Church of Christ, Hardtner.
On August 14, 1929, she married Robert A. Molz at Hardtner. He died
July 11, 1957.
Survivors include: nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 11, 1998, at St. John's
Church of Christ, Hardtner, with Pastor Ron Olson presiding. Burial was
in Hardtner Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the church or to Southwind Hospice. Fisher
Funeral Home, Kiowa, was in charge of arrangements.
Merry J. Meyer
Merry J. Meyer, 64, died February 9, 1998, at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center, St. Joseph Campus, Wichita.
She was born August 25, 1933, at Medicine Lodge, the daughter of
Fredrick and Egypt Fisk Kidd. A Sawyer resident since 1975, she was
a homemaker.
On February 10, 1957, she married Richard Meyer at Long Beach,
California. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Joe and Sam Pauler, both of
Wichita, and James Kasenow, Tuscon, Arizona; two daughters, Peggy
Johnson, Sawyer, and Tina Russell, Wichita; 13 grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was held Thursday, February 12, 1998, in Ellenwood
Cemetery, Sawyer, with Pastor Donald Mutton presiding.

Calbeck Mortuary, Pratt.
Frances Opal Neff
Frances Opal Neff, 95, died Dec. 3, 1997, at Friendship Manor Nursing
Home, Kiowa.
She was born Oct. 4, 1902, in Alfalfa County, Okla., the daughter of
Charles W. and Anna B. Vogel Neff. A longtime Alfalfa County resident,
formerly of Kiowa and Hazelton, she was a school teacher for more than
50 years in Hazelton and Burlington, Okla.
She belonged to Riverside Church of Christ, Burlington, Order of the
Eastern Star, Cherokee, Okla., Oklahoma Educational Association, National
Education Association and Alfalfa County Teachers Association.
Survivors include: two brothers, Robert Neff, Burlington, and Harold,
Coral Gables, Fla.; two nephews and a niece.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Riverside Church
of Christ, Burlington, with Joe Taylor presiding. Burial was in Rose
Hill Cemetery, Hazelton.
