Mrs. Lenora F. Goebel
Mrs. Lenora F. Goebel, 96, a former resident of Hardtner, died
Thursday, July 3, at the Kiowa District Hospital after a short
illness.BornOctober 5, 1872, in Pettis County, Missouri, she was
married to Joen Goebel December 25, 1905, at Scranton. He died in
1948. She was a former resident of Hardtner and had lived in Kiowa
for several years.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include sons: Phillip and Thomas, both of Burbank,
California, Joseph, Merritt Island, Florida; daughters, Mrs. Wilma
Kelfer, Kiowa, Mrs. Geneva Roberson, Capron, Oklhaoma, Mrs. Marjorie
Nagel, Welcotka, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 5, at the Hardtner
United Methodist Church; Samuel A. Warren. Burial was at the Fairview
Cemetery, south of Hardtner.
Benjamin Downing Berry
Benjamin Downing Berry was born in Salina County, Missouri August
24th, 1838, departed this life January 26th, 1921 at the age of 82
years, 5 months, 2 days.
He was united in marriage to Angeline Ellis April 11, 1868. To
this union were born four children: David L. (died in infancy),
James M. of Capron, Oklahoma, Mrs. John Goebel of Hardtner, Kansas,
and B.O. Berry of Anthony, Kansas. The deceased moved to Greenwood
County, Kansas in the year 1882, lived there until the Cherokee Strip
opened to settlement when he and his brother Joe made the run from
Hardtner, Kansas, both securing good claims near the Salt Fork river.
For the last fifteen years he has made his home with his son, Otis,
of Anthony and Mrs. John Goebel of Hardtner. Besides his children he
is survived by one brother and a number of relatives and friends.
Burial in Fairview Cemetery, south of Hardtner, Kansas.
Henry Clay "Hank" Milledge
Henry Clay "Hank" Milledge, 72, died July 6, 1998, at his home in Sharon.
He was born Nov. 18, 1925, in Avard, Oklahoma, the son of George Jefferson
and Ruth May Murphy Milledge. He was a police officer in Alva in 1950. They
moved to Medicine Lodge in 1953, where he worked for United States Gypsum.
They also live in Canton, before moving to Sharon in 1981, where he worked
in grain elevators, the oil field, and in farming.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in Europe.
On February 24, 1950, he married Donna Mae Faucett at Cherokee, Oklahoma.
She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Elvin, Clearwater, John, Alva, Oklahoma,
and Ricky, Hardtner; two daughters, Charlene Abercrombie, Tallapoosa, Georgia,
and Sheryl Webster, Canton, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grand
children.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 19, 1998, at Marshall Funeral Chapel,
Alva, Oklahoma, with Larry Price officiating. Interment was held at Alva
Municipal Cemetery, under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home, Alva, Oklahoma.
Memorials may be made to the South Wind Hospice in care of the funeral home.
James W. Mabie
James W. Mabie, 69, Isabel, died September 18, 1991, at Siesta
Home in Pratt.
He was born July 29, 1922, at Yates Center, the son of Horace
R. and Mabel V. Paul Mabie.
He was a retired farmer and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include; A brother Merle Mabie, Isabel; a sister,
Wilma Joyner, Bradenton, Florida.
There was a private family service at Larrison Mortuary. The
remains will be interred in Yates Center Cemetery, Yates Center.
Memorials may be made to Siesta Home in care of Larrison
Mortuary.
R.L. 'Bobby' Loven
R.L. 'Bobby' Loven, 61, died May 15, 1998, at Cedar Crest Manor,
Medicine Lodge.
He was born December 25, 1936, at Honn, Arkansas, the son of Roy
and Pearl Snyder Loven. A Sun City resident since 1990, moving from
Alva, Oklahoma, he was a farmer.
He belonged to Our Father's House of Worship, Sun City.
On January 7, 1967, he married R.B. 'Rosie' Lattrell at Stronghurst,
Illinois. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Robert R., Alva, Oklahoma; a daughter,
Tammy O'Dell, Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania; a sister, Evelyn Loven; and
six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 18, 1998, at Larrison-Forsyth
Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, with the Revs. Deitra Black and Mary Helton
presiding. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sun City.

David J. "Bud" Diel
David J. "Bud" Diel, 75, Kiowa, died September 17, 1991, at Kiowa
District Hospital, Kiowa.
He was born september 2, 1916, near Ingersoll, Oklahoma, the son
of John and Mary Alice Wohlschlegel Diel. A 50 year resident of
Burlington, Oklahoma, community and moved to Kiowa 11 months ago, he
was a farmer and stockman.
He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Kiowa,
and the Cattleman's Association.
On July 20, 1941, he married Verda M. Spicer at Hazelton. She survives.
Other survivors include: five sisters, Clara Miller and Rose Spicer,
both of Kiowa, Kathryn Schroeder, Medison, Margie McVickar, Sedgwick,
and Virginia Millsap, Wichita.
Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 20, 1991, at the
Kiowa Congregational United Church of Christ, Kiowa, with the Rev. Charles
Fisch presiding. Burial was in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Burlington,
Oklahoma.

Memorial Fund, both in care of Fisher Funeral Home, Kiowa, Kansas.
Barbara Lee Dale
Barbara Lee Dale, 64, died May 11, 1998 at her home.
She was born August 4, 1933, at Medicine Lodge, the daughter of John
and Elsie Coppock Willan. A Ulysses area resident since 1972, coming
from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Mercy, Grace & Truth, Ulysses.
On December 27, 1953, she married Doug Dale at Medicine Lodge. He
survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jas Dale and wife, Gail, Ulysses;
mother and stepfather, Elsie and Dan Heinrich, Seward; a sister, Laura
Johnson, Medicine Lodge; and two granddaughters, Alicia and Rebecca
Dale.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Grant County
Funeral Home, Ulysses, with Minister Kenneth Lamp presiding. Burial was
in Moscow Cemetery, Moscow, Kansas.

John Goebel
John Goebel was born at Scranton, Kansas December 20, 1864, and
after a lingering illness, passed away at his home in Hardtner,
Kansas, February 7, 1948, his age being eighty-three years, one
month and seventeen days.
He was united in marriage to Anna Gilcrist and to this union
three children were born: Frank Goebel of Denver, Colorado; John
Goebel, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; and Jean Goebel Tucker deceased.
His wife passed away in June 1896.
In his early manhood he worked in the coal mines of Osage county,
Kansas. In 1896 he, with his brothers, William, Henry and Frank
came to Oklahoma and homesteaded north of the Fritzlan ranch in
Woods County.
On December 25, 1905 he was united in marriage to Francis Berry
Morris and to this union six children were born: Edison Goebel of
Los Angeles, California; Phil Goegel of Shelton, Washington; Sgt.
Joe Goebel of Salina; Mrs. Wilma Kiefer of Kiowa; Mrs. Marjorie
Nagel of Edmonds, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Geneva Roberson of Capron.
In 1913 he sold his farm and moved to Hardtner, where he ran a
blacksmith shop until a few years ago. When his health failed, he
sold his business and retired. Since that time he has enjoyed
hunting and fishing and gardening. He took a great pride in his
garden. His final illness was of several weeks duration but he
bore it patiently to the end.
His brothers William and Henry and sister Carolin preceded him
in death. One year and just a week ago his brother Charlie passed
away.
Besides his faithful wife and children he is survived by a
large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews
and nieces, a sister Mrs. William Strickenfinger of Scranton,
Kansas, and many friends.
Burial was in Fairview Cemetery south of Hardtner, Kansas.
Harvey Lee Garten
Harvey Lee Garten was born July 21, 1913, south of Lake City near
the Hoover Springs, the son of Hal and Belle Conner Garten. He was
raised in the Gyp Hills of Barber County west of Medicine Lodge. As
soon as he was old enough, he started working on area ranches and
was a cowboy all his life.
On June 10, 1931, he married Doris Ella Smith. To this union were
botn two sons, Fred L. and Lonnie D.
Harvey was a horseman and was well known for his skill at riding
broncs and training horses that everyone else had given up on. He
worked on some of the larger ranches around this area like Z Bar,
Hoover Ranch, Merril Ranch, and the Skinner Ranch. He spent the last
few years before his retirement ranching for himself in Comanche County.
When he was a young man, he enjoyed participating in bull riding,
saddle bronc, and the roping events in rodeos. He was a member of the
Turtle Association the forerunner of the Pro Rodeo Cowboy Association.
Later on, he enjoyed the cutting horse contests, for which he rode and
trained horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Next to his family, good horses were the love of his life and he broke
his last colt at the age of 77. He instilled the love of horses in his
family, and his sons and grandchildren are still riding some of the
horses he broke so well.
Next to horses, a great joy to him was music. He was a big fan of Bob
Wills and the Texas Playboys and he could play all of their old songs
on his fiddle, his favorite bing San Antonio Rose. Before the days of
television, Harvey and Doris spent many a long winter's night entertaining
themselves with Harvey on the fiddle and Doris playing the banjo.
Though they hated to leave their good neighbors, Dean and Judy Gregg,
they moved off the ranch in 1992. They bought a house in Sun City where
they lived until Harvey's death on September 8, 1998. He died with his
boots on doing two things he really liked - eating and visiting.
He leaves to enjoy his memory, his wife of 67 years, Doris, sons, Fred
and Lonnie and their wives, Virginia and Otie, six grandchildren, 12
great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Edna
Smith and Elma Bragg, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of good
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billie H.
Pauline Elizabeth Lacore
Pauline Elizabeth Lacore, 85, died August 26, 1998, at her
home in Medicine Lodge.
She was born July 25, 1913, in Vernon County, Missouri, the
daughter of Henry James and Sara Adelina Mapes Myers. A Sun
City resident since 1951, moving to Medicine Lodge in July 1997,
she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Sun City Baptist Church.
On March 9, 1929, she married Clarence Orvile Lacore at Fort
Scott. He died April 28, 1963.
Survivors include: two sons, Orville and William "George"
Lacore, both of Sharon; five daughters, Reba M. Taylor, Linda S.
Rickard and Betty J. Lacore, all of Medicine Lodge, Dorothy M.
Keller, Sun City, and Wanda J. Shellenberger, White Face, Texas;
17 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 29, 1998, at Sun
City Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Woods presiding. Burial
was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sun City.

Don L. Lampe
Don L. Lampe, 61, died September 10, 2000, at his home in
Nashville.
He was born January 24, 1939 at Nashville, the son of Lawrence
and Nelma Poppe Lampe. A resident of Nashville since 1999,
previously of Grove, Oklahoma and Medicine Lodge, he was a self
employed carpenter.
He was raised in the Lutheran faith.
On December 24, 1959, he married Sandy Stenzel at Pratt. She
survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Steven, Grove, Oklahoma; two
daughters, Brenda Swayden and Tammy Keimig, both of Nashville;
a brother, Dennis, Edwardsville; three sisters, Marlene Vierthaler,
Haysville, Twyla Harbisons, Wichita, and Elaine Davidson, Cimarron;
and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 13, 2000, at the
Medicine Lodge Christian Church with Pastor Tom Walters presiding.
Burial was at the Liberty-Nashville Cemetery.

Calvin 'Bud' Logan
Calvin 'Bud' Logan, 61, died August 30, 2000, at his home in
Kiowa.
He was born August 2, 1939, at Anthony, the son of John and
Leona E. Koontz Logan. He was a 1957 graduate of Kiowa High
School. A former resident of Salida, Colorado, and longtime
resident of Kiowa, he was a farmer, rancher and dirt contractor.
He belonged to Congregational United Church of Christ, Kiowa.
Survivors include: his mother; two nephews; and two great-nephews, all of Kiowa.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister, Billie.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 1, 2000, at
Congregational United Church of Christ, Kiowa, with the Rev.
John Attaway presiding. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Kiowa.

Dorothy Marie Maddox Peel
Dorothy Marie Maddox Peel, 72, died August 24, 1998, at her
home in rural Clearwater.
She was born October 2, 1925, at Sharon, the daughter of
Walter F. and Ruth Brooks Pulliam. She attended Sharon Grade
School and Sharon Rural High School. A Clearwater resident,
formerly of Sharon, Harper and Wichita, having also lived in
Arizona, California and New Mexico, she was a nurse's aide at
Harper Hospital, and she had accepted a position with the
Sedgwick County Delinquent Tax Department, working her way up
to supervisor, retiring from Sedgwick County in 1990.
On November 9, 1941, she married Wayne L. Maddox at Anthony.
He died August 11, 1964. In 1978, she married Benjamin E. Peel
at Wichita. He survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Sharon Gehlen, Sharon,
and Sandra Jennings, Los Alamos, New Mexico; a brother, Willard
Pulliam, Sharon; two sisters, Betty Boor, Kiowa, and LaVeda
DeLong, Hardtner; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Thursday, August 27, 1998, in Rosedale
Cemetery, near Stark. Webb Mortuary, Clearwater, was in charge of the
arrangements.
James B. Talbott
James B. Talbott, 59, died August 28, 2000, at Kiowa District
Hospital, Kiowa.
He was born July 5, 1941, at Wichita, the son of Robert and
Lois Schupbach Talbott. A lifetime Kiowa resident, he was a
farmer and road maintainer.
He belonged to Congregational United Church of Christ, Kiowa,
and was a Mason at Cosmos Lodge No. 278, Kiowa, and the Air
National Guard.
On July 18, 1964, he married Marla Davenport, at Kiowa. She
survives.
Other survivors include: a son, James D., Kiowa; a daughter,
Jamie Talbott-Lamb, Omaha, Nebraska; mother, Kiowa, and three
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial service was held Saturday, September 2, 2000, at the
Congregational United Church of Christ, Kiowa, with the Rev.
John Attaway presiding. Cremation took place.
Lizzetta R. Tharp
Lizzetta R. Tharp, 80, formerly of Hutchinson, died Nov. 26, 1997,
at Attica Long Term Care Center.
She was born June 3, 1917, at Sharon, the daughter of George and
Minnie M. Frietag McGuire. She was a graduate of Sharon High School
and Wesley School of Nursing. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she
was a registered nurse.
She belonged to First Congregational Church and was a longtime
member of the many Hutchinson bowling leagues all at Hutchinson.
On July 9, 1950, she married John F. Tharp at Hutchinson. He died
May 7, 1979.
Survivors include: three brothers, Louis McGuire, Gustine, Calif.;
John McGuire, Attica, and Philip McGuire, Ephrata, Wash.; and several
nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at Elliott
Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Richard D. Liles presiding. Burial
was in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson.

Randall K. Vaughn, 79, Omaha.

Robert Lee Vail, 74, died August 16, 2000, at
Wichita.
He was born May 10, 1926, at Pitcher, Oklahoma,
the son of George and Bertha Maude Hoskins Vail.
Survivors include: his wife, Janie (Durant) Vail
of the home; three sons, Steven, Wichita, Jim, Doha
Qatar, and Roger, Kansas City; a daughter, Cathy
Love, Derby; one brother, Gene, Wichita; three
sisters, Mary J. Tambling, Hutchinson, Dorothy Naasz,
Wichita, and Martha Jones, Houston, Texas; and seven
grandchildren.

Vorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Wichita. Burial was
Monday, August 21, at Nashville Cemetery, Nashville,
Kansas.

Erich Max Wenzel
Erich Max Wenzel, 81, died August 28, 1998, at Medicine Lodge
Hospital.
He was born May 20, 1917, at Rottersdorf, Germany, the son of
Oswald K. and Ida Lina Conrad Wenzel. He came to the United States
in 1927 and became a citizen in 1941. A Sharon resident since 1957,
moving from south of Hardtner, he was a farmer, carpenter, KPL
pressure operator and a dairyman.
On January 7, 1940, he married Dora Mae Terwort in Woods County,
Oklahoma. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Richard, Kiowa; three daughters,
Betty Benson, Manchester, Oklahoma, and Bonnie Fischer and Connie
Boggs, both of Sharon; a brother, Harold Wenzel, Burlington, Oklahoma;
16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, August 31, 1998, in Hardtner
Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Walters presiding.

Gerald Dean Wools
Gerald Dean Wools, 67, died August 11, 2000, at his home
in Medicine Lodge.
He was born December 25, 1932, at Garnett, the son of
Lawrence and Iva Carlson Wools. A resident of Medicine
Lodge since 1992, moving from Isabel, he was a sheet-metal
worker.
He was a member of the American Legion and National
Sheet Metal Workers Association, Local 77, both at Topeka.
Survivors include: a son, Randy D. Wools, Bend, Oregon;
three daughters, Terrie L. Rivoli and Kelli D. Mathews,
both of Bend, Oregon, and Cheryl L. Coonce, Redmond, Oregon;
a brother, Glen, Roseburg, Oregon; two sisters, Nellie Goodnight, Phoenix, Arizona, and Lois Graves, Arcadia, California;
and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother,

Viva L. Alley
Viva L. Alley, 89, died August 6, 1997, at Pratt Regional Medical
Center.
She was born March 8, 1908, at Winchester, Oklahoma, the daughter
of George and Emma Hopkins Roots. A 51-year resident of Cunningham,
moving from Wilmore, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Cunningham United Methodist Church.
On September, 21, 1927, she married Lester H. Alley at Alva, Oklahoma.
He died August 26, 1988.
Survivors include: a son, John, Turon; a daugher, Edna Mae Riggs,
Pampa, Texas; four sisters, Nora Osborne, Pratt, Theo Brown, Pierre,
South Dakota, Vergie Reed, Kiowa, Catherine Ford, Vista, California;
eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning, August 9, 1997, at
Larrison Mortuary, Pratt, with the Rev. Harry Graves presiding. Grave-
side service was held Saturday afternoon, August 9, 1997, at Crown Hill
Cemetery, Coldwater.

J.R. 'Jack' Axline
The family of J.R. (Jack) Axline has received word of his death
on January 10, 1996, at Straub Medical Clinic and Hospital, Honolulu,
Hawaii, after a brief illness.
Jack was the son of A.W. (Chick) Axline and his wife, Louise. Jack
is survived by his brother, Bill Axline and his wife, Fola Mae, his
sister, Caroline Blackwell and her husband, Bob, of Medicine Lodge,
and several nieces and nephews.
Delores K. Brungardt
Delores K. Brungardt, 61, died August 23, 1998, at Integrated
Health Services, Great Bend.
She was born April 21, 1937, at Hays, the daughter of Mike
and Catherine Herman Boxler. A Great Bend resident for 29 years,
moving from Liberal, she was a day-care provider.
She belonged to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Alter
Society, both at Great Bend.
On April 19, 1958, she married Lionel "Bud" Brungardt at Hays.
He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Kevin and Mark Brungardt,
both of Medicine Lodge; three daughters, Michelle Rose and
Donelle Brungardt, both of Great Bend, and Christine Beisner,
Hutchinson; father, Hays; two brothers, Harold Boxler, Wheatridge,
Colorado, and Gerald Boxler, Scottsdale, Arizona; a sister, Mary
Ann Subach, Belle Meade, New Jersey; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 26, 1998, at St.
Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Charles
Mazouch presiding. Burial was in the Great Bend Cemetery.

Mary 'Mimi' Betty
Mary 'Mimi' Betty, 81, of Perryton, Texas, died February 22,
1996.
She was born January 11, 1915 in Kiowa, and had lived in
Perryton since 1957, moving there from Hazelton.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and
the Mary Rachel Circle of the church, as well as a member of
the Perryton Sorosis Club, Ochiltree General Hospital Auxiliary
and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She married Gerald Betty on March 3, 1937 in Hazelton. He
died in 1973.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Claude Betty of Perryton;
one daughter, Barbara Dearing, of Guymon, OKlahoma; one brother,
Ed Stranathan, of Kiowa; two sisters, Helen Youngers of Medicine
Lodge, and lOuise Owens of Coats; nine grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 24, 1996 in First
United Methodist Church with Rev. Todd Dyess officiating. Burial
was in Ochiltree Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers.

Louise Conner Hall
Louise Conner Hall, 82, died August 30, 1998, at her home in
Medicine Lodge.
She was born September 6, 1915, at Tribune, the daughter of
Richard H. and Martha B.L. Hass Conner. A resident of Medicine
Lodge since 1944, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to the United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge,
the Mary Martha Circle of the Church, and Tri Sigma Sorority.
Survivors include: a nephew, Warren Conner, Ashland; two
grand-nephews, Reed Conner, Great Bend, and David Conner,
Chanute; two grandnieces, Chris Conner, Dallas, Texas, and
Kim Randles, Sublette; a great-grand-nephew, Jordan Randles,
Sublette; and a great-grand-niece, Macy Randles, Sublette.
Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, September 2,
1998, at the United Methodist Church, Medicine Lodge, with
Rev. Jim Godbey presiding. Burial was to be in Greeley County
Cemetery, Tribune.
Memorials may be sent to the church, in care of Larrison-Forsyth Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge.
Katherine E. Hauck
Katherine E. Hauck, 64, of Holton, died Saturday, February 17,
1996 at her home after a six year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born June 18, 1931 in Topeka, the daughter of Earl and
Katherine (Murrison) Havorka. Katie was a graduate of Topeka High
School in 1949 and Washburn Univerisity in 1953. She earned her
Masters Degree from the University of Kansas in 1982.
After serving as a social worker and County Welfare Director in
Barber County for five years, Mrs. Hauck continued her professional
career with the State Department of Social Welfare in Topeka. Working
first in quality control and then the final ten years in medical
programs, she retired in 1991. Mrs. Hauck and her husband, Harold
have made their home in Holton since 1973.
She was married to J. Harold Hauck on June 7, 1953. He survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jack and Don.
Other survivors include three sons: Mike Hauck of Seattle, Washington,
Ed Hauck of Boulder, Colorado, and Tom Hauck of Knoxville, Tennessee;
a daughter, Tracy Marshall of Ft. Worth, Texas; six granddaughters
and four grandsons.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church
in Holton Sunday, March 3, 1996 at 2:30 p.m.
It was Katies' wish that memorial contributions be made to the Holton
City Park improvement fund which was a very special interest of hers.

Bethene Long
Bethene Long, 99, died February 19, 1996, at the Attica
Long Term Care Facility, Attica.
She was born July 12, 1896, at Yates Center, the daughter
of Charles Ezra and Anna Louise Funston Florence. A Harper
resident since 1936, moving from Wichita, she was a secretary
for the Golden Rule Oil Company.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she
was also an organist, and belonged to the American Legion
Auxiliary, the Order of Eastern Star and PEO, all at Harper,
and Daughters of the American Revolution.
On September 20, 1920, she married William C. Long at Wichita.
He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a son, W.C. Jr., Wellington; six grandchildren; thre great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Jan Fowler, Jo Gilmore of Medicine Lodge, and
Gerry Johnson of Pensacola, Florida; and nephew, Harrison Nixon
Jr., of Lebanon, Missouri.
Funeral services wer held at First Presbyterian Church, Harper
with the Revs. John and Shirley Barnum presiding. Burial was at
Old Mission Cemetery, Wichita.
Memorials may be sent to the church in care of Elliott Funeral
Home, Harper.
