Lawrence Goodman
E. Lawrence Goodman, 83, Hardinsburg, Ky., died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1916, in Hardin County, Ky., to James and Eliza Goodman. He received bachelors' degrees in speech and in business administration from Olivet Nazarene University, and a master's degree in economics from the University of Kentucky; he also had completed residency and language requirements toward a doctorate in economics. He was professor of agriculture at MidAmerica Nazarene University for 10 years and founded its international agribusiness program. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by MNU in 1988.
He was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene, taught Bible classes, served on local church boards, and was involved with the international church's Compassionate Ministry Department. He led student trips to Third World countries and was consultant for special projects among missionaries in Costa Rica, Korea, Africa and Switzerland. He was instrumental in opening missionary work for the church in Thailand.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Hazel; two daughters, Judy Nash, Wichita, and Jo Edlin, Olathe; a brother, the Rev. Rupert Goodman, Florida; a sister, Zella Johnson, Florida; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. today in the Garrett Chapel at College Church of the Nazarene, Olathe. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Olathe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Agribusiness Scholarship Fund at MidAmerica Nazarene University.

Warren Gordon
Warren J. Gordon, 41, Linwood, Kan., died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at KU Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 28, 1958, in Lawrence. He was a union bricklayer, and belonged to Local 18 of Kansas City and Local 3 of Topeka.
Survivors include a son, Mitchell Gordon, Basehor; his father, Warren S. Gordon, Linwood; his mother, Barbara Wilkins, Lawrence; two sisters, Sharren Eisman, Linwood, and Carol Jones, Bonner Springs; six nephews; and two great-nephews.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 19, at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, DeSoto. The graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Argicola, Kan.

E. Doris Gragg-Kirk
E. Doris Gragg-Kirk, 70, Leon, Kan., died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at HCA Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born April 10, 1929, at Leon, to David Ralph and Anne May (Piper) Holt. She lived in Leon most of her life, except for a few years after high-school graduation, when she lived in Wichita and worked for radio station KFH. She then returned to Leon, and was a postal worker at the Leon Post Office, from which she later retired. She was a member of the Leon Baptist Church and the Eastern Star, in which she was a Past Worthy Matron.
On May 15, 1951, she married Glenn W. Gragg, who died Feb. 10, 1978. She later married Jess W. Kirk on Oct. 12, 1980, and he also preceded her in death April 26, 1993. She also was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
Survivors include a son, John Gragg, Olathe; two brothers, Ivan Holt, Russell, and Don Holt, Topeka; two sisters, Rosa Irela, Leon, and Nellie Ruth Broyles, Andover; and two grandsons, both of Olathe.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 17, at the Leon Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Leon Cemetery.

James Graham Sr.
James C. Graham Sr., 68, Olathe, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born July 16, 1931, in Sulfur Springs, Ark., and had lived in Olathe since moving from Hume, Mo., in 1956. He worked for Pitman Construction from 1973 to 1991; and was a maintenance worker for Olathe District Schools at Oregon Trail Junior High School for seven years, before retiring in 1997. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of American Legion Post 153.
Survivors include his wife, Carol J. Graham, of the home; two sons, James C. Graham Jr. and Christopher L. Graham, both of Olathe; a daughter, Lea Ann Lebeau, Olathe; a sister, Agnes Buchanan, North Kansas City, Mo.; and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Olathe.

Leon Graham
Leon R. Graham, 79, Olathe, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Kansas City, Kan., where he had lived all his life before moving to Olathe in 1993. He was owner and operator of the Graham Heating & Cooling Company in Kansas City, Kan., for many years before retiring in 1972. He was a former member of the Sertoma and Optimist clubs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Graham, in December 1999; and a daughter, Linda Whitcher, in 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Aldridge, Olathe, and Dianne Hilton, Edwardsville, Kan.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at chapel. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

The Gravenstein twins
The twin sons of Randy and Karla (Snavely) Gravenstein, Olathe, were stillborn Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
Other survivors include their grandparents, Walt and Betty Gravenstein, Spring Hill, and Ralph and Louise Snavely, Gardner; and a great-grandmother, Mabel Snavely, Gardner.
The graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday ,June 29, at the Gardner Cemetery.

Theno Graves
Theno Graves, 91, Whittier, Calif., died Jan. 24, 2000, of natural causes.
He was born in Spring Hill. He attended Olathe High School and graduated from the University of Kansas.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was an agent with New York Life for 50 years until retirement. He was a Mason and a member of Shriners.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Josephine, and a son, Steve.
Donald Gray
Donald Anthony Gray, 93, Olathe, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at CLC of Olathe.
He had lived in Olathe for the past five years, after coming from New Jersey. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include a son, Richard Gray, Olathe; and three grandchildren.

Paul Gray
Paul E. Gray, 73, DeSoto, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born June 1, 1927, in Northfork, Ark., the son of Joe and Bertha Gray. He retired from Lone Star Industry after 36 years of service.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Gray, J.D. Gray, and Ewell Loosey; and two sisters, Evelyn Rotell and Lorine Grigg.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce, of the home; four sisters, Deller Sanders and Eva Lovette, both of Pineville, Ark., Elwanda Lucy, Calico Rock, Ark., and Maxine Wood, Northfork, Ark.; one brother, William Gray, DeSoto; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Virgil Gray
Virgil L. "Buck" Gray, 90, Hillsdale, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center from heart failure.
He was born Aug. 22, 1909, in Richmond, Kan., the youngest of nine children of Edwin and Minerva Jane Gray. Both parents died in his infancy, and he was reared by his oldest brother, George Gray. He attended Catholic school and grew up in Paola.
He married Pauline Fay Brown July 27, 1934, in Paola; they lived in the Hillsdale community the rest of their lives. He was a lifelong farmer, retiring several years ago. He also worked for the Kansas State Highway Department for 15 years, before retiring in 1976. He was in Troop K114 Cavalry from 1934 to 1936, and was part of the machine-gun crew, riding the horse that carried the gun. He helped organize, was a charter member of, and served as president for many years for the Paola Trail Riders Saddle Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline, on July 8, 1993; six brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Isenhower, Olathe, and Karen Browning, Hillsdale; and four grandchildren, Marla Thomas, Olathe, Lee Browning, St. Louis, Mo., and Jason and Aaron Browning, both of Overland Park.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, at the funeral home.

Kathryn R. Graybill, 66, of Olathe, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at her home.
She was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Akron, Ohio.

Georgia Green
Georgia Ann Green, 93, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Royal Terrace Nursing Center in Olathe.
Green was born Feb. 26 1908 in Pikeville, Kan. She moved to Kansas City, Mo. in 1950 and later lived in Spring Hill, Gardner and Edgerton.
Green worked for the Radford Powder Plant in Virginia during World War II. She also worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City Mo. until her retirement in 1957.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Spring Hill and also was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary No. 2993 in Olathe.
Green is preceded in death by two husbands, Earl Scott and Lester Green; her parents, George Washington May and Nora Plursha Meade May; a brother, Paul May; and a stepdaughter, Maxine DeVoile.
Survivors include a son, George Sidney Scott, Princeton, Mo.; a daughter, Betty Margarett Tackett, Edgerton; a brother, Noah May, Bland, Va.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center St, Gardner. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Edgerton Cemetery.

Minnie Green
Minnie Florence Green, 98, Eudora, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at the Center for Long-Term Care in Olathe.
She was born May 12, 1902, in DeSoto, the daughter of Charles Henry Oshel and Mary Marie (Kenemaun) Oshel. She lived in the Eudora-DeSoto area as a child and lived in Olathe from the 1920s to 1975, when she moved to Eudora. She married George Green Dec. 25, 1937. She was a waitress at Velvet Freeze in Olathe for many years and also had worked as a waitress in DeSoto. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Olathe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Green, July 27, 1968; a son, Herbert Soper, in 1980; three brothers; and five sisters.
Survivors include a sister, Helen Bluhm, Tallahassee, Fla.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
The memorial graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the DeSoto Cemetery.

Mabel Griffith
Mabel Griffith, 83, Mound City, died Jan. 4, 2000, at Great Plains Nursing Home, Olathe.
She was born Feb. 29, 1916, in Hirrman, Tenn., the daughter of Will Wright and Ruth Thompson Wright. She moved to Mound City to live with her daughter; she had lived previously in Kansas City, Kan., and Gardner.
She was a homemaker. She married Clyde V. Newcome, who died in 1946. She then married Hershall L. Griffith on July 18, 1954, in Tennessee; he died in 1989. She was a Baptist. She volunteered as a foster grandparent at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital, Gardner.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Newcome; a sister, Dora Hester; and four brothers, Oliver, Clifford, J.C. and Red Wright.
Survivors include two daughters, Wilma Gadauer, Mound City, and Louise Goines, Rossville, Ga.; two sons, Samuel Newcome and Eddie Griffith, both of Blue Mound; a sister, Georgia Beaird, Orrick, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner; the funeral will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardner Cemetery.

Randal Grimsley
Randal Gale Grimsley, 58, Olathe, formerly of Fort Scott, Kan., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, of cancer at his home.
He was born March 10, 1941, in Fort Scott, the son of John T. and Irene Hayes Grimsley. He married Barbara A. Wheeler on Aug. 2, 1985, at Fort Scott.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of 22 years and retired as a tech sergeant. He was a computer technician employed by Black and Veach. He was active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars; was a past commander of Leavenworth Post No. 56; helped establish and was first commander of Basehor Post No. 11499; was a past District No. 1 junior vice commander and senior vice commander; and was the 1998-1999 District No. 1 commander.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; and a son, Neil R. Grimsley, Los Angeles.
The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Kansas City Mortuary Service Chapel, 4880 Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, Kan. Cremation. Arrangements are by Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, Fort Scott.

Betty Griswold
Betty Lou Stacy Griswold, 71, Olathe, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at St. Joseph Health Center.
She was born June 11, 1929, in Topeka, and moved to the Kansas
City area as a young child. She was a bank teller for various banks and also worked as a retail clerk before retiring. She was a member of the Olathe Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Thomas L. Griswold, of the home; three sons, Thomas L. Griswold Jr., Kenneth E. Griswold and Timothy A. Griswold; two daughters, Margaret S. Maupin and Patricia L. Arnold; and six grandchildren.

Ruby Groszek
Ruby M. Groszek, 87, Olathe, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Royal Terrace Nursing Home, Olathe.
She was born, July 2, 1913, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Thomas G. and Annie E. (Mounce) Locke.
She was a lifelong resident of the Olathe area. She was a member of the Ridgeview Baptist Church, Olathe. She was a retail clerk at several area grocery stores.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joseph Groszek, in 1986; five brothers, Shirley, Lee, Nathan, Nathaniol and Thomas Locke; a granddaughter, Susan Marshall; and a great-grandson.
Survivors include four sons James and Joseph Groszek, both of Olathe, Frank Groszek, Tacoma, Wash., and Robert Groszek, Wichita; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Allwin Groves Jr.
Allwin B. Groves, Jr., 64, Olathe, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at his home. He was born Dec. 19, 1935, in Greensburg, Pa., and had lived here for the past five years.

Groves served in Korea with the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the American Legion Earl Collier Post No.153. He also owned and operated Classic Coach in Olathe.

Kenneth Groves
OSAWATOMIE, KS-Kenneth Ray Groves, 39, Osawatomie, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in Osawatomie.
He was born Feb. 27, 1961, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Donald and Patricia (Chapman) Groves. He had served in the U.S. Navy. He was a paraprofessional.
Survivors include his wife, Victoria Groves, of the home; his parents, Donald and Patricia Groves, Glen Heaven, Colo.; and two brothers, Ron Groves and Steve Groves, both of Olathe.

Ivan Grunert
Ivan Harold Grunert, 93, Almena, Kan., formerly of Olathe, died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb.
He was born Dec. 11, 1906, in Naponee, Neb., the son of Henry and Bertha Olive (Curry) Grunert. His family moved to the Almena, Kan., area where he attended grade school and was a 1926 graduate of the Almena High School. He married Lily Fern Nelson on July 29, 1927, in Phillipsburg, Kan. They lived in Phillips and Norton counties in Kansas until 1939, when they moved to Peoria, Ill., where he worked for the Armour Meat Packing Company. He also farmed at Princeville, Ill., from 1940 to 1951. They returned to the Almena area, and he farmed in Phillips County.
He and his family moved to Olathe in 1958, so a grandson could attend the Kansas School for the Deaf. He was a butcher for Ed Moody for three years, then was the Olathe school district's superintendent of buildings and grounds for 11 schools until 1967. He and his family returned to Almena, where he farmed until retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Odd Fellows and the Naphtali Masonic Lodge No. 310, A.F. & A.M., all of Almena; Kiwanis International and the Lions Club of Olathe; and the Eagles Club of Norton, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lily Grunert, Aug. 26, 1998; two brothers, Charles Grunert and Irwin Grunert; a sister, Hilda Worley; and a granddaughter, Catherine Kay Bunnell on Dec. 9, 1992.
Survivors include a son, Fred Grunert, Long Island, Kan.; a daughter, Dorothy Pierceall, Paola; a brother, Leland Grunert, Logan, Kan.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be prior to the funeral, which will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Almena. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Almena, with Masonic burial rites by the Naphtali Lodge No. 310, A.F. & A.M., Almena.

Murphy Guillory
Murphy J. Guillory, 83, of Muskogee died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in his home.
A native of Eunice, La., he was born May 3, 1917, the son of Ozieme and Victoria (Fontenot) Guillory. Hegrew up in Louisiana where he worked on the family farm.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Iceland, England, France, Belgium and Germany. He returned to his home state in Louisiana after the war where he worked in the oil fields. In 1995, he moved to Kansas City where he joined the Iron Workers Union of Local 10. He then lived in Olathe from 1958-1976 where he retired from his work in iron construction in 1975. He and his wife, Marie, retired to Bundick Lake near Deridder, La. In 1982, they resettled in Muskogee.
He was a member of many organizations, including St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Order of the Moose, he was a charter member of the World War II Memorial at Normandy Beach in Normandy, France, was a former member of the 29th infantry of Fort Benning, Ga., and the American Legion. He was also a member of Local 10 of the Ironworker of Kansas City and the International Brotherhood of Ironworkers.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Fontenot Guillory; and grandson, Matt Guillory.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Todd Guillory, of the home; daughters and their spouses, Linda Gale Fiedler and Jim of Olathe; Cynthia (Tootie) Mahoney and Jim of Olathe, and Junella (Teeka) Hiatt and Gerald of Gardner; sons and spouses, Glen Guillory and Brenda of Joplin, Mo., Bill Todd of Houston; Tom Todd, and Bev of New Mexico; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

Lester F. Gulick, 94, Olathe, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Olathe.
He was born Dec. 10, 1905, in Sabetha, Kan.
He worked for or Patrons Insurance Co. for 60 years before retiring. He was a past president (1937) of the Olathe (Area) Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of Olathe Masonic Lodge No. 19 for 71 years, and a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Gulick, in 1998.
Survivors include two nephews and two nieces.

Austin L. Gulley, 2 days, of Eudora died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at the Olathe Medical Center.

Opal Gulotta
Opal May Gulotta, 87, of Lenexa, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Lakeview Village.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Gulotta, and one brother, Paul Huffman.
Survivors include one son, Paul Gulotta and wife, Nancy, Olathe; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at McGilley and Hoge Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the chapel. Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
John Gutierrez
John Charles Gutierrez, 33, of Kansas City, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Truman Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 14, 1967, in Los Angeles, and had lived in the Kansas City area most of his life. He was a Roman Catholic and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Kansas City, Mo. He attended Westport High School and Rockhurst College. He taught and choreographed Mexican folk dance.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lucio Gutierrez, in 1999.
Survivors include his mother, Theresa Gutierrez, \Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Sue Pinney, Olathe, and Anita Louise Gutierrez, Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Christopher Joseph Gutierrez, Kansas City, Mo.; twin brother, Ronald Edward Gutierrez, Kansas City; Mo.; 10 nieces and nephews; two great- nieces and nephews; and life companion, Hazen Beggs, of the home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at McGilley Midtown Chapel, Kansas City, Mo. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Good Samaritan Project.
