Rev. Wendell Hackler
The Rev. Wendell L. Hackler, 60, of Timberlake near Lane, Kan., died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 5, 1940, in Plad, Mo., and lived in Olathe from 1987-1998 when he moved to Timberlake.
He lived most of his younger years near Windyville, Mo., before moving to Kansas City in 1959. He was a graduate of Windyville High School.
When coming to Kansas City, he was an employee of Owens-Corning Fiberglass before entering pastoral work in 1967. He served the next 29 years in pastoral care throughout Kansas. Due to illness, he retired from his pastoral duties in 1996 from the Prairie Center Church of God of Prophecy in Olathe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Willa Behl; and one brother, Jay Dee Hackler.
Survivors include his wife, Anita L. Hackler, of the home; a son, Ron E. Hackler, Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Denise A. Winemiller and Karen L. Howell, both of Olathe; a brother, Jack Hackler, Wichita; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17. Burial will be in Windyville, Mo.

Charles Hadsall
Charles "Chuck" Hadsall, 39, of Paola died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at the Miami County Medical Center in Paola.
He was born Nov. 3, 1961, in Paola, the son of Bernard D. and Carolyn Murphy Hadsall. He attended Paola High School, graduating in 1979. He attended Kansas State University for one year and then moved back to Paola.
In 1980, he married Robin Meinig, which later ended in divorce. For the next 17 years, he was employed with Miami County, working in the solid waste department and noxious weed department. He was instrumental in starting the Miami County Recycling project, which he received the Point of Light Award from the office of the President for a job well done, and started the Miami County demolition derby years ago.
For the past year, he was employed by the city of Olathe as supervisor in the solid waste department.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, was on the Miami County Fair Board, judged tractor pulling contests, coached Little League and Pewee League baseball teams and the Miola Basketball League. He enjoyed playing softball, NRA racing, football games and did background music for Nancy Olivers dance recitals. He was also active in 4-H in the Miami County area.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde and Florence Hadsall, and T.J. Murphy.
Survivors include a fiancee, Bobbie Garrison, Paola; his father, Bernard Hadsall, Paola; stepmother, Darlene Hadsall, Paola; his mother, Carolyn Winn, Paola; daughter, Casey Hadsall, Emporia; son, Adam Hadsall, Paola; grandmother, Mary Cole, Paola; brother, Mark Hadsall, Paola; sister, Pamela Hadsall, Paola; half-sister, Tricia Hadsall, Paola; and his fiancee's children, Kyle Garrison, Quentin Garrison and Caylin Garrison, all of Paola.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at the Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola. Burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home.

Daniel Haley
Gardner - Daniel Leroy Haley, 49, of Gardner, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 6, 1951, in St. Joseph, Mo., the son of James Hobart Haley and L. Glenadyne Ginn Haley, Osawatomie, Kan. He lived in Paola before moving to Gardner 17 years ago. He graduated from Paola High School in 1969. He then married Bonnie Jean Wright on Dec. 16, 1978, in Paola. He worked on the assembly Line at Delco in Olathe for 18 years.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of the home; his parents, James and L. Glenadyne Haley, Osawatomie; a son, Jeff A. Haley, Wellsville; three daughters, Jodie L. Dobbins, Urich, Mo.; Valerie J. Wichmann and Melinda L. Haley, both of Gardner; four brothers, Paul Haley and Joel Haley, both of Paola; Kevin Haley, Dripping Spring, Texas; and David Haley, Riverside, Mo.; a sister, Ginny Gabbert, Paola; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Gardner Cemetery.

Patricia Hall
Patricia R. Hall, 86, Olathe, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Johnson County Nursing Center, Olathe.
She was born March 17, 1914, in Los Angeles, the daughter of Lyman D. and Ruth M. (Hall) Porter.
Her earlier working years were spent as a licensed physiotherapist in Florida. She married Jesse Chipman in 1943. She spent 12.5 years as a hostess, tour guide and student at the University of Science and Philosophy in Waynesboro, Va., founded by philosopher, scientist and artist Walter Russell and Lao Russell. In 1976, she moved to Wichita; in 1979, she moved to Glenwood Springs, Calif., where she spent the next 18 years as artist. In 1997, she moved to the Johnson County Nursing Center in Olathe to be close to family members.
Survivors include a daughter, Deanna Dennis, Lenexa; three grandchildren, Aundrea Dennis, Brett Dennis and Greg Dennis; and two great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Olathe Memorial Cemetery, Olathe.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the University of Science and Philosophy, P.O. Box 520, Waynesboro, VA 22980.

Mary Hamby
Mary Louise Hamby, 80, Shawnee, died Jan. 10, 2000, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 12, 1919, in Edgerton, the daughter of William F. and Vincentia McCarthy Braun. She graduated from Edgerton High School in 1937, and from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1940. She received a bachelor's degree in nursing from St. Mary's College in 1942.
She was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps Reserves. During World War II, she served on hospital ships and on Leyte Island in the Philippines. Following the war, she worked at Wadsworth Veteran's Administration Hospital. From 1956 to 1968, she was head nurse in the women's building at the Topeka VA Hospital.
She married Edgar J. (Ted) Hamby on June 1, 1968. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Altar Society.
Survivors include her husband, Ted, of the home; a daughter, Dianna McKenzie, Lawrence; a brother, Ray Braun, Edgerton; two sisters, Florence Lewis, Gardner, and Lois Roberts, Bonner Springs; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs, with the rosary beginning at 7 p.m. The funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Savior of the World Pastoral Center, 12601 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kan. Burial will be in Bonner Springs Cemetery.

Marcelia Hammer
Marcelia Willidene Hammer, 76, Gardner, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000.
She was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Gardner, Kan., the daughter of Orville and Ida Hammer. Out of high school for 13 months, she was employed at North American Manufacturing, building military bombers. For the next 25 years, she worked at National Bellas Hess. The last 30 years of her life, she lived on the family farm near Gardner and was a caregiver for family members. She was a longtime member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe.
Survivors include a brother, Roger Hammer, Gardner; two sisters, Alvena Tangblade, Kansas City, Kan., and Betty L. McEvoy, Independence, Mo.; a nephew; and two nieces.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.

Samuel Hamilton
Samuel L. Hamilton, 63, of Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Olathe, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, after a long battle with lung cancer.
Better known as "Sam," he had worked as a night clerk at the Otter Creek convenience store for several years until his health caused him to retire in December 1998.
He was born Sept. 12, 1936, in Mountain View, Mo. He and his family moved to Olathe in 1950. He graduated from John P. St. John Memorial High School in 1955.
Survivors include his wife, Debora A. Hamilton; a daughter, Cindy Pulliam, Olathe; his father, Lester Hamilton, Olathe; a brother, Jim Hamilton, Manhattan; two sisters, Ruth Hadle, Gardner, and Judy Braland, Winter Garden, Fla.; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000, in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, Little Rock, Ark. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home. Cremation.

Marvin Hampton
Marvin Lewis "Bud" Hampton, 58, Topeka, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Topeka.
He was born Jan. 5, 1942, at Hutchinson, the son of Thomas E. and Myrtle M. (Morgan) Hampton. He grew up in Olathe and attended Olathe schools.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 28 years, including a tour in Vietnam. At the time of his retirement he was Navy Master Chief E9. After retirement he became an independent carpentry contractor.
He was a member of Topeka North Post No. 400 of the American Legion; Philip Billard Post No. 1650, VFW; Orient Lodge No. 51, A.F. & A.M.; Valley of North East Kansas, Scottish Rite Bodies; Arab Shrine Temple; and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include a son, Marvin Lewis Hampton Jr., San Diego; a daughter, Annette Smith, San Diego; a brother, Emmett E. Hampton, Virginia Beach, Va.; and three sisters, Shirley L. Newson and Mary Jane Moore, both of Topeka, and Debbie Gurthie of Cleveland, Mo.; and two grandsons.
The memorial services will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Church of God of Prophecy, 105 N. Montclaire. Cremation.

Melinda Hampton
Melinda Dean Hampton, 26, Olathe, died Friday, May 26, 2000.
She was born Nov. 30, 1973, in Kansas City, Mo., to Clifford Dean Cartwright and Lela Y. (Sue) Cartwright. She grew up in Olathe, attended Northview Elementary School, and was a graduate of Olathe North High School. She was a two-year member of Olathe North's drill team. She also attended Concorde Career Institute's medical assistant program and the Superior School of Cosmetology. She married Rochester Hampton Dec. 31, 1993.
She was a former member of Second Baptist Church, Olathe; for the past two years, she was a member of New Vision C.O.G.I.C. She also was a member and assistant drill master of the Royal Steppers drill team; a member of the Marching Jaguars and the Strangers Rest drill teams; and a member of Ministry Incline Plus, a professional singing group.
Survivors include her husband, Rochester Hampton, of the home; a son, Jaques Tyjuan Hampton, of the home; her father and stepmother, Clifford and Arnita Cartwright, Fort Worth, Texas; her mother, Lela Cartwright, Olathe; two sisters, Tina Sue Cartwright, Olathe, and Carmen Griffin, Wichita; a stepbrother, Ronnie Fowler, Fort Worth; five nephews; and two nieces.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, with the funeral at noon, today at New Light Baptist Church, Olathe. Burial will be at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
Helen Handley
Helen Faye (Newson) Handley, 83, Olathe, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

Survivors include three brothers, Glen and Billy Newson, of Olathe, and Richard W. Newson, Sr., Topeka; and three sisters, Pearl Fuller and Norma Ingle, Olathe, and Esther Perry, Cody, Wyo.
Gary Hardenbrook
Gary L. Hardenbrook, 58, Overland Park, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1942, in Harlan, Iowa, to Don and Rose Hardenbrook. He had lived in Overland Park for the past 12 years, coming from Columbus, Neb. He was a 1959 graduate of Mapleton High School in Mapleton, Iowa. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was an air-traffic control specialist at the Federal Aviation Administration Center in Olathe for 29 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the American Legion post in Chanute, Kan.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Hardenbrook.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Hardenbrook, of the home; a son, Max Hardenbrook, Lenexa; his mother, Rose Hardenbrook, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; and a brother, Brian Hardenbrook, Sioux City, Iowa.

Mary Harold
Mary Dorothy Harold, 84, Parker, Kan., died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at the Eudora Nursing Home.
She was born May 6, 1915, at Goodrich, Kan., the daughter of William Frederick and Sarah Frances Burnett Zimmerman. She attended school at France Country School.
She was a homemaker. She attended the Methodist Church at Parker and was a member of the Neighbors Club. She lived in Linn County until 1990, when she moved to Eudora to be near her daughter.
She married Leslie H. Harold Feb. 26, 1936, in Mound City; he died Dec. 24, 1988. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister.
Survivors include two sons, Phillip Harold, Paola, and Lloyd Harold, Olathe; a daughter, Phillis Durkin, Eudora; a brother, Marvin Zimmerman, Overland Park; a sister, Thelma Crow, Edmond, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Viewing will be after 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, with the visitation from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Goodrich Cemetery.

Roger Harsh
Roger A. Harsh, 53, McLouth, died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at the Medical Lodge, Gardner.
He was born May 3, 1947, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Harold and Martha (Wright) Harsh. He married Mary Sanderson on June 22, 1985, in Tonganoxie. He was a disabilities advocate for Independence, Inc., of Lawrence.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie, and the secular Franciscan Order. He also belonged to the Rocky Mountain Fur Co., Missouri Brigade.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Harsh, of the home; his mother, Martha Harsh, Olathe; and three brothers, Lee Harsh, Austin, Texas, and Brad Harsh and Brian Harsh, both of Olathe.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, with the rosary at 7 p.m., at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. The mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Margaret Hartley
Margaret Jeanette Hartley, 78, Kansas City, Kan., died Friday, Jan. 28, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
Hartley was born to Wilbur Loren and Ruth Brown Hartley Dec. 31, 1921, in Spring Hill, Kan.
She graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1939 and moved to Kansas City, Kan. in 1944.
Hartley worked for over 40 years as a supervisor in the wire department at Business Men's Assurance Co., Kansas City, Mo., retiring in 1984.
She was a member of Eastern Star Nova Chapter, Overland Park. She was a charter member of Madonna White Shrine, Merriam, and the Kansas State White Shrine. She was also a member of Keen Agers and Ruth True Kindred Conclave.
Preceding Hartley in death are her parents Wilbur Loren and Ruth Brown Hartley and one brother Walter Hartley.
Survivors include one sister Barbara Long, Eudora; two nieces and two great nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Bruce Funeral Home, Spring Hill. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bruce Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
An Eastern Star service will be held at the funeral's conclusion.

Kay Hatfield-Pelot
Kay Hatfield-Pelot, 40, Baldwin City, formerly of Overland Park, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2000, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
She was born July 2, 1959, in Chicago. She graduated from Proviso East High School, Chicago. In 1981, she graduated with honors from the Pittsburg State University, with a bachelor's degree in biology. She was a chemist for Osborn Laboratory, Olathe. She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Temple, Baldwin City.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Pelot, of the home; three sons, Steven Pelot, of the home, Karl Anderson, Eudora, and Kyle Hatfield, Lawrence; three daughters, Nancie Pelot and Melaine Pelot, both of the home, and Kora Anderson, Eudora; her mother, Nancy Hatfield, Elkhart, Ind.; a brother, Thomas Hatfield, Fayetteville, Ark.; two sisters, Debbie Nalian, Berwyn, Ill., and Lou Dwyer, Washington D.C.; and a former husband, Bob Anderson, Eudora.
Viewing will be after 9 a.m. today at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, Baldwin City. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at Lighthouse Baptist Temple, 115 Sixth St., Baldwin City, with the funeral immediately following at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City.

Debra Hausman
GARDNER, KS - Debra J. Hausman,46, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at her home in Gardner.
She was born Oct. 22, 1953, in Lexington, Ky. She grew up in Kentucky and lived in Overland Park for 10 years before moving to Gardner last year.
She graduated from La Fayette High School in Lexington, Ky. She worked as an office manager for Heartland Food Service in Mission, Kan. for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Williams Carroll.
Survivors include husband of 16 years, Stanley Hausman, of the home; two sons, Clay Finney and Chris Finney, both of Gardner; two sisters, Nequin Scott, Mountain View, Calif. and Dotti Volgenau, Sun City, Fla.; and her father, Charles Carroll, Fla.
Visitation will be at noon Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Cremation.

J. Maynard Hawkins
J. Maynard Hawkins, 76, Olathe, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at the Olathe Medical Center.
He was born April 20, 1924, in Chillicothe, Mo., and had lived in Olathe since 1945. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1946-1948, for 22 months on USS Chandler. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
He retired in 1990 from Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Lenexa after 23 years of service. He previously worked for the former Citi Service Oil Station in Olathe for 18 years.
He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Olathe.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Hawkins in 1972, four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Betts Hawkins, of the home; a daughter, Patsy J. Manson of Louisburg.; a brother, Roy C. Hawkins of Pomona; and two grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, at St. Paul's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe where a rosary service will be held Tuesday. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa.

Susan Hayes
Susan Dean Hayes, 46, Arlington, Texas, formerly of Paola, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at the Vencor Fort Worth West Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
She was born Feb. 25, 1954, in Paola, and was adopted by John H. and Nadine Hoffman. She grew up in Paola and attended Paola High School. After high school, she was a cook for Windy Acres Restaurant and the Paola Country Club. She also cooked for the American Legion in Osawatomie.
She married Cloyde Louk, and they later divorced. She then married Robert Hayes Nov. 6, 1976, in Paola. She and her husband Robert moved eight years ago to Arlington, where she worked as a cook at General Motors and cleaned apartments, until she retired due to rheumatory arthritis fibrosis. She was a member of the Woodland West Baptist Church in Arlington.
She was preceded in death by a half-sister, Debbie Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Hayes, of the home; two sons, Jess Louk, Kansas City, Mo., and Lance Hayes, Osawatomie; her father, John Hoffman, Paola; her mother, Nadine Hoffman, Greeley, Kan.; three brothers, J.D. Hoffman, Bronson, Kan., and Steve Hoffman and Rick Hoffman, both of Greeley; three half-brothers, Kevin Smith and Jay Smith, both of Raytown, Mo., and Will Smith, Mississippi; and a half-sister, Kristie Johnson, Paola.

Fronetta Hazelrigs
Fronetta Hazelrigs, 60, of Olathe, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at her home.
She was born, June 10, 1094, in Visalia, Calif., the daughter of, Clarence and Lahoma (Cleveland) Nail.
She had lived in Olathe the past four years, coming from Tulsa, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Glen, Billy, and Timmy Cleveland; and one sister, Loretta Cleveland.
Survivors include, two sons, Charles G. and Paul Hazelrigs, both of Georgia; three daughters, Debbie Brown, Georgia; Marie Hazelrigs, Georgia; and Danetta Wheeler, of Olathe; four brothers, Grover Cleveland, Calif.; Luby Cleveland, of Forney, Texas; Woody Cleveland, Sopen, Okla.; Carroll Cleveland, Sandsprings, Okla.; one sister, Ila Fern Burbank, Lathrop, Calif.; two grandchildren, Cody and Devin Wheeler, both of Olathe; and eight other grandchildren.
