Marsha Hudson
Marsha Hudson, 49, Dennison, Texas, died Dec. 30, 1999, at her home.
She was born Nov. 1, 1950, in Sherman, Texas, the daughter of Clay Maurice and Ruby E. Orr Kumler. She attended Sherman High School. She later attended modeling school and art school.
She married Gary Gravitt in Miami, Okla., on June 1, 1994. She had lived in Kansas City, Mo., for 30 years until moving to Dennison two years ago. She shared an antiques business with her sister, and had worked as an interior decorator. She was a member of the Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Gravitt, of the home; a daughter, Marshell Larson, Keller, Texas; two sons, Mark Hudson and Michael Hudson, both of Kansas City, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Sarah Gravitt, Kansas City; her mother, Ruby Kulmer, Sherman; a sister, Judy Kumler, Sherman; a brother, Michael Dean Kumler, Sherman; a grandson; and a niece and a nephew.
Memorial service was Jan. 3 in Dennison.

Peggy Hudson
Peggy Louise Hudson, 63, died June 15, 2001, at her home.
She was born Feb. 9, 1938 in Chanute, Kan. She had lived in Olathe since 1971 and was employed as a nurse. Hudson also was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Olathe.
She is survived by her husband, James Hudson, of the home; a son, Thomas Woods, Olathe; a stepson, Steven Hudson, Olathe; two daughters, Rhonda Barnhart, Olathe, and Trina Woods, Kansas City, Kan.; four stepdaughters, Karen Paulie, Ponca City, Okla., and Debra Lewis, Diane Mitchell and Linda Samyn, all of Olathe; three brothers, William Kepley, Newton, Kan., Neil Kepley, Portland, Ore., and Charles Kepley, Chanute, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at W.L. Frye and Son Mortuary, 105 E. Loula, Olathe.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 900 S. Honeysuckle St. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Olathe.

Arthur Huggins Sr.
Arthur Huggins Sr., 77, of Parkville, Mo., died May 7, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was born April 30, 1924, in Emporia, Kan. His childhood was spent in Olathe. Arthur served in World War II, first in the Merchant Marines and then transferred to the Coast Guard. He married Carolina A. Acampora in 1947 at the St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. Mr. Huggins was a 50-year member of the Blue Lodge Mason in Olathe and was a past member of the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ione Huggins, and a brother, Virgil Huggins.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolina; four children, Carol Ann Smith, Arthur R. Huggins Jr., Dennis Huggins, and Michele Chauncey; seven grandsons; four granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the W.L. Frye and Son Mortuary and Crematory, Olathe. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
Marian Huggins
Marian Ree Huggins, 85, Shawnee, died Sunday, Jan. 30, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam.
Huggins was born to Charles and Anna Houlehan Oct. 30, 1914.
She worked for Southwestern Bell for several years. She worked for the Shawnee Mission School District food service for 19 years, retiring in 1979.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Anna Houlehan; two sisters Kathleen Ott and Virginia Hulse; and her oldest daughter Linda Orser in 1993.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years Ted, of the home; one daughter Gayle, of the home; one sister Lucile Chaney; one son-in-law John Orser; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Burial will follow at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Association.

Robert Huggins
Robert B. Huggins, 83, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Continuous Long Term Care, Olathe.
He was born July 2, 1916, in La Cygne, the eldest child of Daisy and Floyd Huggins. They moved to Olathe in 1920. He received a bachelor's degree in science from the University of Kansas in 1951, taught eighth grade in Bonner Springs, traveled for Certified Chemicals, and was a bricklayer. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a malariologist (a specialist in tropical diseases), attached to the Seventh Fleet and to the U.S. Marines.
He was elected to the Olathe City Commission and later to the Olathe City Council. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He also was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Laura M. (Peggy) Smith Huggins, of the home; a son, Robin J. Huggins, Springfield, Va.; three brothers, Ted Huggins, Shawnee, Floyd Huggins, Leawood, and Larry Huggins, Kearney, Mo.; and three sisters, Vivian Jurgens, Olathe, Peggy Young, Spring Hill, and Shirley Sanders, Pensacola, Fla.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Olathe. Burial will follow at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.

William Huggins Sr.
William R. Huggins Sr., 80, of Basehor died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 21, 1920, in Irving, Ill. He was a member and deacon at the Armourdale Baptist Church. He had worked as a custodian for the Turner Unified School District No. 200 for more than 20 years and had formerly worked at Schutte Lumber Co., in Kansas City, Mo. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Finley and Velma Huggins; and two sisters, Betty Jane Huggins and Dorothy Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Betty Huggins of the home, two sons, William R. Huggins Jr., and wife, Hope, of Piper, and Mark E. Huggins of the home; one daughter, Pamela S. Klee and husband, Barry, of Olathe; three brothers, Gordon Huggins and wife, Susan, and Earnest Huggins and wife, Carolyn, all of West Plains, Mo., and Kenneth Huggins and wife, Carol, of Raymore, Mo.; seven sisters, Lorene and husband Noal Riles of Lebanon, Mo., Ruby and husband Larry Sargent of California, Jacquelyn and husband Richard Michelson of Liverpool, Calif., Barbara and husband Ralph Gingles of Koshkonong, Mo., Roberta and husband Williams Evans, and Beverly and husband William Burton, all of Springfield, Mo., and Dixie and husband Raymond Combs of Thayer, Mo., and five grandchildren.

Homer Hughes
Homer B. Hughes, 94, DeSoto, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Good Samaritan Center.
He was born Dec. 18, 1905, in Holden, Mo. He worked for Ford Motor Co. from 1929 to 1963 when he retired. He also ran a DeSoto farm. He was a member of the United Auto Workers No. 249.
Survivors include twos sons, Gerald Hughes, Manhattan, and Paul Hughes, Kansas City, Mo., a daughter, Patricia Warsop, Thane, Wyo.; six grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Hughes.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the DeSoto Baptist Church. Burial will be at DeSoto Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Ray Hull
Ray Hull, 83, of Gardner, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born May 7, 1917, the son of Charles and Fredonia Williamson Hull, in Selma, Ala., and grew up in Charlotte, N.C. He married Margaret Carroll (Bobbi) Marsh on Sept. 15, 1946.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olathe and was a Mason. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbi; two children, Bill Hull, Kansas City, Mo., and Carroll Ramseyer, Gardner; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 143rd and Black Bob Road. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday at First Baptist Church, 2024 E. 151st, Olathe. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Leonard Humann
Leonard Lee Humann, 70, of Olathe, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at his home. He was born June 5, 1930, in Lincoln, Neb., the son of Gustave and Opal May (Johnson) Humann.
He lived in Olathe for 30 years, coming from Wymore, Neb. He attended Wymore High School. He attended Stanley Community Church in Stanley, Kan. He worked for the Local Union No. 12 Elevator Constructors, retiring in July of 1989. He played several instruments in a country western band including the guitar, fiddle, accordion and piano.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one step-son, Johnny Spencer.
Survivors include, his wife, Frankie Ione (Villines) Humann, of the home; his mother, Opal, of North Kansas City, Mo.; one son, Ed Ryan, of Overland Park; two step-sons, Richard Spencer, of Olathe and Donnie Spencer, of Kansas City, Kan.; three daughters, Linda Oliver, of Lincoln, Neb., Cheryl McAuthur, of Montana and Brenda Ginnopulis, of Salt Lake City, Utah; two step-daughters, Shirla Baxter, of Riverview, Mich. and Brenda Humann, of Horton, Kan.; two sisters, Maxine Villines, of Kansas City, Mo. and Glaydis Baker, of Nevada; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Glen Humerickhouse
Glen D. Humerickhouse, 73, Modesto, Calif., formerly of Ottawa, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
He was born Sept. 16, 1926, the son of Oscar Lee and Velma Pearl (Brown) Humerickhouse on the family farm near Centropolis. He grew up there and attended schools at Appanoose, graduating from Appanoose High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1947 until his discharge in 1951. He was married to Donna June Cherry, and they later divorced.
He was a longtime Modesto resident. He worked for Rainbow Bread Bakery for more than 33 years in Modesto. He later owned and operated Superior Dry Cleaners in Modesto and the Ceres Dry Cleaners in Ceres, Calif., in the 1980s. He was a member of the American Legion in Modesto.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Lonnie Delbert Humerickhouse.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Humerickhouse, Gardnerville, Nev., Ricky Humerickhouse and Randy Humerickhouse, both of Olathe; a brother, John Humerickhouse, Ottawa; two sisters, Thelma Roush, Princeton, Kan., and Edna Fuller, Hope, Ark.; and six grandchildren.
The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, Ottawa. Private inurnment will be later at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Centropolis.

Helen Hund
Helen Mercedes Hund, 79, Olathe, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at her home.
She was born Feb. 18, 1921, in Harper County, Kan., the daughter of Lester and Helen Smitheisler Leaderbrand. She was reared in Wichita and attended St. Mary's Cathedral High School. She married Eugene Raymond Hund in 1941. She had lived in Garden City from 1960 until she came to Olathe in 1986.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hund, in 1985.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Hund, Wichita; two daughters, Susan Hund-Milne, Maize, Kan., and Jeannie Hund, Olathe; two brothers, Joe Leaderbrand and Jack Leaderbrand; and six grandchildren.
She will lie in state after noon today at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe. The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe.
Robert Hunley
Robert "Bob" H. Hunley, 70, Olathe, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center.
He was born July 20, 1929, in Columbia, Ky., the son of Horace and Margarette (Devore) Hunley. He joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was employed as a truck driver for more than 29 years with the Ready Mix Concrete Company of Olathe. He retired in 1991. He also was employed with Reno Construction Co. in his earlier years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union No. 541 of Kansas City. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter of College Hills, Ill.
He married Kathalee Massengale on May 2, 1953, in Glasgow, Ky. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Wayne, Olathe; two grandsons, Olathe; his mother, Margarette Brown, Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Walter, Louisville; and three sisters, Louis Teel, Camelsville, Ky., and Lovie Teel and Betty Burchett, both of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Marie Hunley.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at the Walnut Creek Cemetery, Wellsville. Scott Hunter
Scott Lee Hunter Sr., 75, Lenexa, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Edgerton, Kan., the son of Ora Lee and Gurleeta G. Hunter. He had lived in the Johnson County area all his life. He graduated in 1943 from Edgerton High School, where he had received several basketball awards. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He married Betty Zilliox Nov. 7, 1945, in Kansas City, Kan. He was a forklift operator for G.K. Warehouses in Kansas City, Kan., for 25 years, retiring in 1981. Since his retirement, he had worked part-time for Hunter Drape in Lenexa.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Delfloris Boyd, in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; two sons, Scott Hunter Jr., Lawrence, Kan., and Robert Hunter, Lenexa; two daughters, Sara Hipsher, DeSoto, and Nancy Fulks, Bonner Springs; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 6, at the Monticello United Methodist Church, 75th and Gleason Road, Shawnee. Burial will be at the Monticello Cemetery.

Clint Hurd
Clint Wilson Hurd, 20, Louisburg, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001 in Overland Park.
He was born in Overland Park, and graduated from Louisburg High School in 2000. He worked at Borders Bookstore and was planning on attending college this fall.
Clint is survived by his parents, James and Cheryl Hurd of the home; a brother, Jeffry Hurd, Louisburg; his grandparents, Leland and Barbara Spencer, Overland Park, and Joe and Joan Hurd, Overland Park; his great grandmothers, Pearl Seil and Juanita Berger, both of Clinton, Mo.; his aunts and uncles, John Hurd, Jan and John Loser, Ron and Sarah Spencer, and David and Penny Spencer; cousins Jennifer Loser, Sean Loser, Dylan Hurd, Ben Sutherlin, Chad Spencer and Nicole Spencer; and many other relatives and friends.

Ralph Huston
Ralph Edward Huston, 85, Payson, Ariz., formerly of Olathe, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, in Payson.
He was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Olathe. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a retired electrician.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille in 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Burtnett, Payson, and Linda Frew, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a brother, Glen Huston, Gardner; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
No services were planned.

Martha Hutcheson
Martha L. Hutcheson, 63, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 14, 1936, in Beirut, Lebanon, the daughter of Chester T. Hutcheson, Sterling, and the former Ada M. Wilson, Olathe. She spent much of her childhood in Syria, where her parents were missionaries. She lived most of her adult life in Mission, Kan.
She was a 1954 graduate of Olathe High School. She attended Geneva College, Kansas State University, KU Nursing School, Columbia Bible College, and the University of North Carolina, receiving a bachelor's degree, becoming a registered nurse, and receiving a master's degree in public health. Her career was with the Visiting Nurse Association and the Johnson County Health Department, from which she retired in 1999 as director of the Personal Health Services Division.
She was a lifelong member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, most recently in Shawnee, and was a member of the denomination's Board of Foreign Missions.
She was an active member of the Nurses Christian Fellowship, the American Public Health Association, the Kansas Public Health Association, the American Nurses Association, the Kansas State Nurses Association, KUSN's Gamma Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Organization honor society, the Maternity and Child Health Coalition of Greater Kansas City, the Cedar House Board of Directors, and the Covenantor Daughters Women's Missionary Fellowship.
Survivors include two brothers, Harold Hutcheson, Olathe, and Norman Hutcheson, Kansas City, Kan.; a twin sister, Anna H. Duncan, Tallahassee, Fla.; five nephews; and a niece.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the W.L. Frye & Son Mortuary, Olathe. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Shawnee, 6835 Pflumm Road, Shawnee. Burial will be at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.

Tom Hutchinson
Tom Hutchinson, 23, Olathe, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Odessa, Mo.

He was an Olathe resident most of his life. He was a 1995 graduate of Olathe North High School.
He attended Johnson County Community College and the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He had worked for Midwest Fireplace in Olathe for the past year.
Survivors include his mother, Marsha Jeffers, Olathe; a sister, Kelly Sturdevant, Olathe; grandmothers Faye Pokaluk and Shirley Grimes, both of Kansas City, Mo.; an uncle, Mike Grimes, Grandview, Mo.; and two aunts, Karen Deboard, Kansas City, Mo., and Sharen Eads, Odessa, Mo.
Wilbur Hutchinson
Wilbur L. Hutchinson, 86, of Olathe, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at his home.
He was born, Oct. 17, 1914, in Allerton, Iowa, the son of Otis and Stella Kay (Lewis) Hutchinson.
Mr. Hutchinson had lived in Olathe since 1957, coming from Wellsville, Kan., where he farmed. He attended the Baptist church while living in Wellsville. After moving to Olathe he worked for Johnson County, retiring in 1979.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Homer Hutchinson, who died in 1956; two brothers, Willard Hutchinson, who was Wilbur's twin, and Merl Hutchinson.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia (Embrey) Hutchinson, of the home; and one sister, Donna Gatewood, of N.C.

William Hutchison
BUSHTON - William H. Hutchison, 56, Bushton, formerly of Olathe, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2000, at the Central Kansas Medical Center-St. Rose Campus.
He was born July 28, 1944, in Fort Stockton, Texas, the son of Henry M. Hutchison and Hazel Allene (Simmons) Hutchison. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He married Kathleen Ellen Kokstis on June 5, 1993, in Olathe.
He was a truck driver for several companies, including Florolla Trucking of Iowa. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Ellsworth. He also was a member of the VFW and AA, both of Olathe.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen E. Hutchison, of the home; a daughter, Pam Farrington, Bushton; a stepson, William J. Bauer, Olathe; his mother, Hazel Simmons, Goldsboro, N.C.; a brother, Richard Hutchison, Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Bonnie S. Gupton, Goldsboro, and Deloris Thompson, Atlanta; and a grandson.
The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church, Ellsworth. Cremation.

Harold Hymer
Harold Hymer, 67, died Feb. 18, 2000, after returning to his home in Gardner, Kan.
He was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Corinth, Ky., the son of Herman Hymer and Annie Winkle Hymer. He married Patricia Ann Baker July 15, 1974, in Miami, Okla.
He has lived in Gardner for 15 years. He has also lived in Olathe; Grandview, Mo.; and Kentucky
After 25 years of service at Twin City Tool Co. in Olathe, he retired as a supervisor. He also worked at the Gardner Elementary School for three years as the head custodian.
Hymer served in the Marine Corps. from 1953 to 1961. He formerly served as an elder at the King of Kings Lutheran Church in Gardner. He was also a member of the American Legion in Gardner.
He is preceded by his parents, Herman Hymer and Annie Winkle Hymer.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Hymer, of Gardner; a son, Paul Edward Hymer, of Winchester, Ky.; a daughter, Regina (Jeannie) Fay Potts, of Winchester, Ky.; a stepson, James Robert Cole of Lansing, Kan.; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Kay Clary of Gardner, and Barbara Ann Cole of Wellsville; two sisters, Mary Florence Souder and Lillian Elaine Jones, both of Corinth, Ky.; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bruce Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the National Organization for Rare Diseases or the Critical Care Unit of the Olathe Medical Center.
