Katherine Kidwell
Katherine A. (McKain) Kidwell, 88, Olathe, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Royal Terrace Care Center.
She was born Nov. 11, 1912, in Kansas City, Kan. The family moved to Overland Park where she graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1931.
She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Olathe for 32 years, retiring in 1975. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Olathe. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and helping others when needed.
Survivors include her son, George L. Kidwell and wife Bobbie, of Lake Jackson, Texas; daughter Bonnie J. Perkins and husband Allen of Olathe; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one niece; and four nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe. The family will receive friends there from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery.

Leo Kill
Leo J. Kill, 99, Paola, formerly of Lenexa, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at the Heritage Manor, Osawatomie.
He was born Oct. 25, 1900, in Shawnee, to John Taylor and Josephine B. Zahner Kill. In his early childhood, his family moved from their farm in Shawnee to Lenexa, where he attended Oak Grove Rural School.
He married Leona Wolfkuhl Feb. 2, 1921, in Lenexa. Shortly after, they moved to rural Spring Hill, where he farmed. In 1940, the family returned to the Lenexa area, and he continued farming until he and a son, Donald, opened D and L Kill Electric in 1961; he worked there until 1978, when he retired at age 78. Also in 1978, he moved to Paola, where he lived until entering Heritage Manor in April. He was an active member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola, as well as the Paola Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, Sept. 1, 1992; a daughter, Lucille Payne; and a grandson, David Kill.
Survivors include a son, Donald Kill, Paola; a daughter, Dorothy Jaroch, Menlo Park, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The rosary will be 6:30 p.m., and the visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, at the Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Paola. Burial will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa.

Edna Killion
Edna May Simons Killion, 97, died Oct. 26, 2000 at Olathe Medical Center.
She was born in Leavenworth, Kan., to Grant U. Simons and Mary Odell Post Simons who preceded her in death.
She was married to Harry W. Killion June 5, 1922 in Bently, Iowa, who died in 1955.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Walters, of Olathe; Betty Locke, Gardner; Rose Fargo, Gardner; sister, Stella Crow, Topeka; and two brothers, Charles Simons, Rapid City, S.D.; and Raymond Clouse Simons, Valley Falls, Kan.; 24 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Oct. 29 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner.
Services will be 11 a.m. Oct. 30 at Valley Falls Cemetery, Valley Falls, Kan.
Mary Kimbley
Mary R. Rogers Kimbley, 74, Lenexa, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Olathe Medical Center.
She was born in Tahlequah, Okla., on July 25, 1926. She moved to Lenexa in 1999 after living in Spring Hill since 1958. She graduated from Tahlequah High School and Beauty School.
She first married Jackson D. Rogers, then divorced and later married Robert L. Kimbley on June 3, 1994, in Miami, Okla.
She was a hairdresser and owned and operated Karyl's Beauty Shop in Spring Hill from 1958 to 1972. She also owned and operated a Spring Hill restaurant after retiring from the beauty business. She was a member of the Spring Hill Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion and a 45-year member of the Eastern Star of Spring Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Scott and Hester Jolliff Scott; an infant son, Bill; one brother, Clyde; and two sisters, Martha and Ruth.
Survivors include daughters Sheryl Hooper, Gardner, Ks., Carol Aust. Lawrence, and Mona Dickinson of Raymore, Mo.; stepson Robert E. Kimbley, Olathe; stepdaughters Glennis J. Folsom, Topeka, Dina L. Secrest, Spring Hill, and Connie K. Layson, Columbus, Ohio; sisters Georgia Branstetter, Poteau, Okla., and Ruby McClendonm Detroit; 10 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Spring Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Bruce Funeral Home, Spring Hill.

Herbert King
Herbert V. King, 103, Olathe, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at his home.
He was born July 1, 1897, in Pawhauska Osage, Okla. He married Bea L. Busenburg on June 24, 1933; she preceded him in death in 1979.
In 1921, he went to work for Union Gas Company, Independence, Kan., where he worked for 24 years. He then worked for the state of Kansas in Topeka as a state bank examiner, and later as a budget director for the Topeka State Hospital, from which he retired in 1970. He had lived in Topeka many years before moving to Olathe in 1971.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Topeka. He was a member of the Fortitude Lodge No. 107 AF&AM in Independence, and of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Topeka. He was a former member of the Mirza Shrine at Pittsburg.
Survivors include a daughter, Colette K. McGee, Olathe; a grandson, Michael King McGee, Olathe; a granddaughter, Kala Franz, Olathe; a great-grandson, Tanner Parker Franz, Olathe; a nephew; and several nieces.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe.

Kathryn King
Kathryn V. King, 86, Olathe, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Olathe Medical Center.
She was born Kathryn Grimes on March 5, 1914, at Barnard. She had been a resident of Olathe since 1980, moving from Lincoln County. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe; the Foster Grandparents Program; H.D.U. Women's Society; and the Lincoln Methodist Church. She also was a Sunday-school teacher and a 4-H leader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay King, in 1978; and a son, Michael King, in 1984.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Risley, Gardner, and Sondra Chapman, Houston, Texas; a sister, Vivian P. Austin, Wylie, Texas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Harrison-Hall Funeral Home, Lincoln, Neb. Burial was to be at Lincoln Cemetery.

Bonnie Kirkpatrick
Bonnie Joyce Kirkpatrick, 71, of Olathe, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 16, 1929, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., the daughter of John and Leah (Carman) Eddlemon.
She graduated from high school in Hutchinson, and then went to Kansas City Business School. She had lived in Olathe since 1950. She worked for Morris Hubbard, Pembers Clothing Store, King Radio, Deffenbaugh Disposal Company and worked with her husband in running their business, Town and Country Trash Service.
She was a member of the Rebbekah's for more than 25 years. She married Archie Glenn Kirkpatrick on Nov. 15, 1950, in Olathe. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Joyce Sheehan, Lenexa, and Kathy Kirkpatrick, Olathe; her mother, Leah Eddlemon, Olathe; a sister, Elaine Boydston, Independence, Mo.; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Preceding her in death were two sons, Michael Kirkpatrick and Dennis Kirkpatrick, and her father, John Eddlemon.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elwyn Klassen
Elwyn E.P. Klassen, 90, Hillsboro, Kan., died on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Hillsboro Community Medical Center Long Term Care Unit.
He was born on July 19, 1910, in Waldeck, Kan., the son of Peter S. Klassen and Wilhelmine Penner. He was a former truck driver.
On Nov. 21, 1937, he married O'Linda Weyand in Lehigh, Kan. They were members of the First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997.
Survivors include a spouse Mable Klassen of Hillsboro and son, William Klassen of Olathe; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at the First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro. Burial will be at Lehigh Township Cemetery rural Lehigh. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel.
The family suggests contributions to the memorial fund at the First Mennonite Church.
Leona Klotz
Leona Klotz, 93, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, in Clinton, Mo.
She was born April 10, 1906, near Chapman in Merrick County, Neb., the daughter of John Paul Wagner and Martha Luecht Wagner. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton. She spend most of her life in the Bethlehem community near Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Harvey; a son; two brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Breshears, Clinton, and Wilma McQuitty, Olathe; four grandchildren, including Diane Duke and Donna Buescher, both of Olathe; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was March 23 at the Consalus Chapel, Clinton. Burial was at the Englewood Cemetery.
Barbara Knight
Barbara Ruth Knight, 70, of Argyle, N.Y., died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born in Massena, on Nov. 20, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Florence M (Ehle) Browning. She was a graduate of Massena High School, and Canton Ag. and Tech. She served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict as an airman second class.
She was employed as a secretary for several companies in Kansas. After moving to Argyle in 1972, she was employed at Mallinckrodt as a quality control operator. Her hobbies include crafts, crocheting and bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin E. "Gene" Knight and her brother, William B. Browning.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen Brown and her husband, Larry, of Paola; Karla Longdaue and her husband, Dennis, Stedman, N.C.; Kelly Dowd and her husband, Douglas, of Argyle; Katie Hodges and her husband, James of Hudson Falls; a sister, Marion Cook, of Argyle; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, Argyle, N.Y. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4,, at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen McLean, pastor of the Argyle United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Argyle, N.Y.

George Knoche
George L. Knoche, 79, Stilwell, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at his home.
He was born July 17, 1921, in Kenneth, Kan., and had lived in the Stilwell area all of his life. He was a 23-year U.S. Postal Service worker as a carrier and eight years as a substitute carrier before retiring in 1981. He also was a farmer.
He was a former member of the Stanley Community Church and was a member of the Stilwell Methodist Church at the time of his death. He was a member of the Stanley High School Board from 1959 to 1968. For many years, he served on the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Board. He was a 50-year member and Past Member of the Stanley Masonic Lodge No. 444.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Glen, Claude, Bill and Verne Knoche; a sister, Leota Rawie; and a grandson, John Lee Knoche in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Knoche, of the home; three sons, Melvin Knoche, Bucyrus, Gary Knoche, La Cygne, and Don Knoche, Overland Park; a daughter, Susan Ray, Stilwell; a sister, Louise Young, Overland Park; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe with Masonic services at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Walter Knop
Walter W. Knop, 74, Louisburg, died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 1, 1925, in Chiles, Kan., the son of Arthur H. and Esther G. (Whitaker) Knop. He grew up in the Chiles and Bucyrus communities, where he attended school. He was a 1943 graduate of Bucyrus High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 33rd Infantry in the Philippines, 1944-1946. He married Barbara Morris on Feb. 6, 1948, in the Elm Grove Baptist Church, Chiles.
He and his brother Welby bought their parents' interest in the family farm and formed Knop Brothers Farm; they ran a dairy and farmed until selling the dairy in 1972. He retired from farming in 1992. He also was a rural mail carrier in the Bucyrus area for 38 years before retiring from that in September 1988. He was a member of the Chiles Church. He also was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association and the Louisburg American Legion Post 250.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Barbara Knop, of the home; three sons, Arthur W. Knop, Stephen W. Knop and Warren L. Knop, all of Louisburg; a daughter, Charlene Wise, Louisburg; four brothers, Welby Knop, Louisburg, Virgil Knop, Collierville, Tenn., Arthur L. Knop, Monroe, La., and Eldon Knop, Tucson, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Bucyrus Cemetery, Bucyrus.

Sheryl Kohns
Sheryl R. Kohns, 54, of Olathe, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Kohns, of the home; a son, Steven Kohns, Blue Springs, Mo.; a daughter, Michelle Kohns of the home; her mother, Lenore Wolkenhauer, Fort Dodge, Iowa; a brother, Jon Wolkenhauer, Pocahontas, Iowa; and two sisters, Linda Wolkenhauer, Pocahontas, Iowa, and Sandra Eccles, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church , Olathe. The family will receive friends form 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.
Merlyn Koland
Christianburg, Va. - Merlyn Wayne George Koland, 79, Christiansburg, Va., formerly of Chapman, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at the Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg, Va.
He was born Feb. 11, 1921, in Strandquist, Minn., the son of George Theo and Minnie M. (Lofstrom) Koland. He married Joan Caroline DesRosier in September 1942; they divorced in January 1962.
He was in the U.S. Army, Nov. 16, 1942, to Oct. 7, 1951. He was a World War II veteran, serving in New Guinea and the southern Philippines, and a Korean War veteran.
While in Chapman, he and his first wife Joan owned Koland's Cafe.
He later was married to Ursula Koland, from 1965 to 1989.
He had lived in Minnesota for many years until recently, when he had moved to Christiansburg.
He was preceded in death by a sister, June Lee Gillian, and a grandson, Aaron Sheets.
Survivors include three sons, Lance Koland, Newton, Scott Koland, Chapman, and Michael Koland, Kansas City, Kan.; and five daughters, Karen Michael, Olathe, Renee Jury, Chapman, Annette Gabrick, Lawrence, Reinis Smith, Wichita, and Denise Cruc, Orlando, Fla.; four brothers, Forrest Koland, Hibbing, Minn., George Koland, Karlstad, Minn., and Oliver Koland and Leonard Koland, both of Christiansburg; three sisters, Iyone Gillis and Corrine Champion, both of Christiansburg, and Helen Koland, Minnesota; 35 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service and inurnment will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Indian Hill Cemetery in Chapman, with a color guard and firing squad by the Chapman American Legion Post No. 240.

Wilma Kollman
Wilma Kollman, 80, of Olathe, formerly of Butler, Mo., died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe. She was born Dec. 15, 1920, in Spruce, Mo., the daughter of William and Rosa Diehl Cumpton. She was united in marriage to Harry Kollman on March 8, 1947. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Harry and Wilma owned and operated the Dairy Deluxe in Butler before moving to Olathe in 1964, where they owned and operated the Patron's Launderette.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and her three brothers, John Cumpton, Everett Cumpton, and George Cumpton.
Wilma is survived by her son, Ron Kollman of Olathe; her three brothers, Marvin Cumpton of Overland Park; Arthur Cumpton and wife, Clara Mae of Butler; and Quentin Cumpton and wife Blanche of Butler; and her one sister, Gladys Linard of Butler.
The visitation will be held Saturday, March 31, 2001, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the Underwood-Steinbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. at the Underwood-Steinbeck Funeral Home with Brother Bill Perkey officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Harold Kolosik
Harold LeRoy Kolosik, 71, Olathe, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center.
He was born May 2, 1929, in Hoisington, Kan. He was a 1947 graduate of Osawatomie High School.
He was a motion picture projectionist for Theater Enterprises, Inc. from 1947 to 1951. He then entered the military and served from March 1951 to December 1952. He then managed theaters in Kansas and Missouri. In 1978, he became the grounds keeper at OMC where he remained until his retirement in 1993.
He was married to Shirley Crozier in 1954 and they had two children. They were divorced in the mid-1970s. He then married Joanne Danaher Shanerman in 1982. They made their home in Osawatomie until October of this year and moved to Olathe.
Survivors include his wife Joanne, of the home; his children Kathyrn Walker-Brakeville, of Lane, Kan. and Tom W. Kolosik of Lenexa; two stepdaughters, Stephanie Goddard of Olathe and Pamela Smith of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, June Kolosik and Juanita Gregory both of Osawatomie; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. There will be a graveside service at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Gene Konen
Gene Leroy Konen, 59, Overland Park, died Friday, July 28, 2000, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., after a three-year battle against non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
He was born and reared in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late Leroy and Grace (Steinbrecher) Konen. He attended Northern Illinois University and received a bachelor's degree in business administration. He was a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity.
Following college graduation, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a professional salesman, representing various companies throughout his career.
He attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Overland Park.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Maureen, of the home; two daughters, Peggy Cloud, Olathe, and Kathleen Konen, Overland Park; three sons, William, Michael and Kevin Konen, all of Overland Park; a sister, Lynn Workman, Chicago; and two granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the rosary said at 8 p.m., at the Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Stanley.

Kathryn Kramer
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Kathryn Marie Kramer, 47, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She was born Sept. 22, 1953, in Olathe.
Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Lon Kramer, of Corpus Christi; her parents, Morris and Myrtle Eastland, Gardner; two sons, Troy Hensieck and Jeremy Hensieck, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; three daughters, Kristy Randall Argiros, Corpus Christi, and Sonya Rall and Shari Erickson, both of Gardner; three brothers, Earl Hall, Gardner, Gene Eastland, Paola, and Scott Eastland, Edgerton; two sisters, Sharon De Freece, La Cygne, and Linda Carroll, Enterprise, Kan.; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Seaside Chapel, Corpus Christi. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
The family is planning a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Edgerton Methodist Church.

Martha Kramer
Martha May (Kennard) Kramer, 101, Elkton, died Friday, June 9, 2000.
She was born at Cross Timbers (Hickory County) Mo., and was preceded in death by her five brothers and four sisters. She traveled to Kansas City in a covered wagon when she was two years old. When she was 10, the family crossed the Kaw River by ferry and settled in the Garnett, Kan., area.
She married Charlie Kramer in Ottawa, and they had nine children, eight sons and one daughter. Her husband preceded her in death in 1956. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Kramer.
She spent her early married years in Garnett, Burlington, Melvern, Vassar and Quenemo. After the death of her husband, she lived in Raytown, Olathe, Osawatomie and Elkton, Mo.
Surviving are seven sons: Floyd Kramer, Neosho Rapids; Eugene Kramer, Osawatomie; Willis Kramer, Quenemo; John Kramer, Paola; Glenn Kramer, Lawson, Mo.; Charles Kramer and Perry Kramer, both of Olathe; and a daughter: Clara Green, Elkton, Mo.; 31 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren.
Services are to be Tuesday at the Ferris-Feurborn Funeral Home in Garnett. Burial is to be at Melvern Cemetery.
Emma Kramps
Emma Katherine Kramps, infant, Hillsdale, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
She was born June 19, 2000, in Overland Park, the daughter of Anthony A. and Christine E. Kramps, Hillsdale.
She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Ernest A. Baumgartner, in 1984.
Survivors include her parents, of the home; two sisters, Sarah E. and Ashleigh M. Kramps, both of the home; three grandparents, Henry A. and Judy E. Kramps, and Dorothy M. Baumgartner, all of Olathe; and a great-grandmother, Mildred E. McDiffitt, Junction City.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus Council 1913, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Olathe. Cremation.

Gregory Krause
Gregory R. Krause, 48, Merriam, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born Sept. 21, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He married Ishel McGee in 1980. He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation, until retiring in 1996, due to ill health.
Survivors include his wife, Ishel, of the home; a son, Gregory D. Krause, of the home; and a daughter, Sarah M. Krause, of the home; a stepson, James Fey, Kansas City, Mo.; and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Fey, Lenexa.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 27, at the W.L. Frye and Son Chapel, Olathe. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Roy Krummel
Roy Ebben Krummel, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 14, 1927 in Kansas City, Kan. He worked at the Dari Anne in Spring Hill and was owner-operator of the Trails Restaurant in Gardner. He was also a retired truck driver for Safeway.
He graduated from Turner High School in Kansas City, Kan. He was in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1948. He was also a member of the R.L.D.S.
He was preceded in death by brother, Harold Krummel.
He married Mary Bunce Krummel on April 29, 1949, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives of the home. Other survivors include sons, Steve Krummel, Gardner, and Stanley Krummel, Spring Hill; a daughter, Starla Ogg, Gardner; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Olathe Hospice.
Mary Kueker
Mary F. Kueker, 93, Lenexa, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at Olathe Medical Center.
The graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Monticello Union Cemetery, Shawnee.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are by the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs.
Clifford Kurtz
Clifford W. Kurtz, 68, Edwardsville, Kan., died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
Mr. Kurtz was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Eudora, Kan., the son of Elmer Charles and Amanda Mae (Weatherford) Kurtz. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witness in Kansas City, Kan. He was employed at Sam's Wholesale Club, where he had many friends among his fellow employees.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Kurtz, of the home; a son, Bradley W. Kurtz, Kansas City, Kan.; three daughters, Debra D. Underwood and husband, Leland, Pleasanton, Kan., Lydia C. Haynes and husband, Arthur, Basehor, Kan., Stephanie A. Murphy and husband, Galan, Branson, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Cremation.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lupus Foundation of America or the Gardner High School Alumni Scholarship Fund.
Donald Kurtz
Donald R. Kurtz, 75, LaCygne, Kan., formerly of Gardner, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center, Leavenworth.
He was born March 30, 1926, in Eudora, the son of Elmer Charles and Amanda Mae (Weatherford) Kurtz. He grew up in Eudora, and lived in Gardner, Spring Hill and LaCygne before moving to the VA facilities in 1994. He graduated from Gardner High School in 1944. He was an assistant postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in Gardner. He retired in 1970. He also was a municipal judge for the City of Gardner for five years and the Johnson County Sheriff's Department.
He was a member of the Gardner Presbyterian Church, Gardner. He was a member of the NRA, VFW, American Legion, Gardner; DAV, Spring Hill; Kansas Peace Officers Association; National Arbor Day Foundation; and the National WildLife Federation.
He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred and Ira Kurtz.
He is survived by three sons, Patrick Allen Kurtz and wife, Mary Angelia, Pittsburg, Kan., Phillip Walter Kurtz, Everett, Wash., and William Charles Kurtz and wife, Sundae May, Pittsburg, Kan.; two brothers, Clifford "Bud" Kurtz, Edwardsville, Kan., and Martin Lee Kurtz; and a sister, Barbara Newbanks, Olathe.
The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Military graveside services and burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe.
