Burl Rice
Burl Walter Rice, 63, Spring Hill, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at the Beverly Health and Rehab, Spring Hill.
He was born Oct. 17, 1936, in Kansas City, Mo. He moved back to Spring Hill in 1994 from Valley Center, Kan., where he lived in New Horizon care center. He worked many years ago for the Coleman Company in Wichita.
He was a member of the Christian Church, Kansas City, Kan. and Baptized Lutheran Church, Wichita. He participated in Special Olympics events and played softball.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Alvin Rice; a sister, Nancy Light; and a nephew. Edwin Martin.
Survivors include his mother, Pearl Maupin Rice, Overland Park; a sister, Linda Martin, Joplin, Mo.; a niece, Debra Quaife, Robinson, Kan.; and two nephews, Brice Martin, Joplin, Mo., and Bryan Martin, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Tuesday until the service time at the Bruce Funeral Home, Spring Hill.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Special Olympics.
Cleo Richardson
Cleo R. Richardson, 90, Eudora, died June 10, 2000, at Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born April 23, 1910, in Pryor, Okla, the daughter of Charles and Bessie Foreman Rush. She spent most of her life in Tulsa, moving to Lawrence in 1995.
She was a teacher for rural and public schools in Tulsa for 45 years before retiring. Throughout her career she received numerous awards for her teaching and public service.
She was a member of the Bible Fellowship Center Church in Tulsa and was an Ombudsman's Volunteer in Tulsa. She was a graduate of John Brown University where she was the salutatorian of her class. She received her masters degree from the University of Oklahoma.
She married Curtis Richardson on June 19, 1930, in Tulsa. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Survivors are a daughter: Joan Quiring, Lawrence; two granddaughters; a grandson; and five great grandchildren.
Services are pending at Moore Funeral Home in Tulsa. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Warren McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Phoebe Riek
Phoebe M. Riek, 73, Olathe, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at the Olathe Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Hendersonville, N.C., the daughter of Benjamin and Betty Elizabeth (Henderson) Francis. She had lived in Olathe for the past 11 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include son, William D. Riek Jr., Chicago; two daughters, Kathy J. (Riek) Igoe, Livonia, Mich., and Kimberley J. Riek, Chicago; brother Benjamin B. Riek Jr., Decatur, Ga.; and two sisters, Ann Garrison, Olathe, and Barbara Jo Gallo, Quebec, Canada.
Funeral services were Sunday at the W. L. Frye and Son Mortuary and Crematory, Olathe. Burial was at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
Laurie Ritch
Laurie A. Ritch, 48, Osawatomie, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at the Overland Park Medical Center, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born May 26, 1952, in Johnson County to Arnold and Juanita (Niedermaier) Lewis. She grew up and attended school in Binghamton, N.Y., before moving to Nevada, Mo., where she attended Nevada High School, and then to Osawatomie. She attended Johnson County Community College and later Nail Tech School in Olathe, where she received a nail license. She was a member of the Lenexa Christian Center.
Survivors include a son, Steven Minden, Wichita; a daughter, Brandy Freeman, Osawatomie; two stepdaughters, Tabytha Ritch and Brittnie Ritch, both of Wagstaff; her parents, Arnold and Juanita Lewis, Nevada, Mo.; two brothers, Tom Lewis, Wheatland, Mo., and Ron Lewis, Nevada, Mo.; a sister, Sherrie Keen, Wichita; and a granddaughter.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. today at the Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola. Burial will be at the Paola Cemetery.

Jewell Robbins
Jewell Maurine Robbins, 88, Overland Park, died Jan. 4, 2000, at Johnson County Nursing Home.
She was born on Aug. 13, 1911, in Monroe County, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd H. Robbins, in 1966.
Survivors include a son, Gary F. Robbins, Goodland; two daughters, Theta F. Gillett, Wheatland, Mo., and Sharon A. Coulter, Olathe; four grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Milton Roberts
Milton Joseph "Joe" Roberts, 79, Lenexa, died May 27, 2000, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Bonita to James Fredrick "Fred" Roberts and Stella Verne Prewitt Roberts and lived in Olathe, Lenexa and Johnson County most of his life.
He was a mail coder for the Kansas City, Mo., Terminal Railroad Co. for 28 years. He also worked for All State Electric Co., Olathe, and CFVA in Lenexa. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Merriam.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold "Bugs" Roberts, and a sister, Maxine Abell.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Doris J. Kelly Roberts, of the home; three daughters, Beverly Archer, Olathe, Marna McAferty, Overland Park, and Vicki Roberts Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Lloyd, Olathe, Dale, Kansas City, Mo., and Willis E., Manchester, Mo.; three sisters, Lois Johnson, Dorothy Wood and Shirley Hampton, all of Olathe; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon on Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner. Burial will be at Gardner Cemetery. Friends can call at 11 a.m. on Tuesday before the service at Bruce Funeral Home.

Va. Cleoris Roberts
Va. Cleoris Roberts, 92, Gardner, died Feb. 20, 2001, at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center. She was born May 15, 1908, to John W. and Lulu (Martin) Trammell.
She was a charter member of the Johnson County Disciples. She was a past worthy grand-commander of the Kansas Order of True Kindred member Ruth Conclave #13 Shawnee, past worthy matron Gardner #235 OES, past president of the League of Scottish Rite Women, member of Gardner Grange, and a 75-year alumni of Georgia State College.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Chester H. Roberts, 1987, and a son, Chester H. Roberts Jr., 1963.
She is survived by son Lee Trammell Roberts and wife Ruby, New Orleans, La.; two daughters, Virginia Wilber and her husband, Jim, Salisbury, N.C.; and Lucy Walker and her husband, James, Shawnee; brother, Charles Trammell and his wife, Julia, Luthersville, Ga; 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee; burial in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Eugene Robertson
Eugene L. Robertson, 72, Kansas City, Mo., died Sept. 6, 2000, at his home.
He was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances C. Burton, Olathe; a brother, W.D. Robertson, Mission; two sisters, Maxie L. Irwin, Kearney, Mo., and Dotty Robb, Raytown, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Blackman Funeral Home chapel, Kansas City, Mo. The funeral will be noon Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
John Robertson
John Deal Robertson, 65, of Lawrence, formerly of Vinland, Kan., died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 25, 1935, in Vinland, the son of Beulah A. (Carpenter) and Ralph Robertson. He grew up in the Vinland community, attending grade schools in Vinland and Coal Creek before moving to Baldwin City. He graduated from Baldwin City High School in 1953. He then went on to college at Emporia State on an athletic scholarship.
On March 11, 1961, he married Mary L. Kneedler, they shared more than 39 years of marriage.
Baldwin City employed him as a police officer for three years. He also worked for All-Star Dairy for eight years before going to work for the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 26 years before retiring in 1995. After his retirement, he worked for LaidLaw Bus Co. in Lawrence.
He coached Little League and Babe Ruth in Baldwin City for 29 years. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Lucille McMillan, Grace Boyer, Trudy Robertson, and Alta Detweiler; and one brother, Dale Robertson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; one daughter, Janet Pape, of Baldwin City; two sons, Steve Robertson of Olathe and Roger Robertson of Baldwin City; one brother, Frosty Robertson of Manhattan; and five sisters, Jane Roller of Baldwin City; Dorothy Smith of Lenexa; Leola Honstead, Madison, Wis.; Louise Cochran of Adrian, Mich.; and Cleta Campbell of Richmond, Kan.; one granddaughter and six grandsons.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. March 7 at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, with interment to follow in Vinland Cemetery. He will be instate after 12 p.m. Tuesday at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

William Robertson
William L. Robertson, 80, Olathe, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his home.
He was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Kansas City, Kan., and had lived in Olathe the past 49 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Following service, he was a supply inspector for the U.S. Air Force for almost 40 years, retiring in 1986.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Robertson; and two sisters, Betty Magochy and Lavine Collins.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ruby G. Robertson, of the home; two sons, Earl L. Robertson, Norman, Okla., and Dale A. Robertson, Leavenworth; two daughters, Mary A. Bullock, Conroe, Texas, and Peggy J. Collins, Leavenworth; a brother, John Robertson, Texas; two sisters, Mary Johnson, Atlanta, Ga., and Jo Anne Robertson, Olathe; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 1, followed by visitation, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe. Cremation.

Anthony Rochte
Anthony "Tony" Lorenzo Rochte, 37, Gardner, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at his home.
He was born March, 24, 1963, in Olathe, the son of Stephen C. Rochte and Judith A. Brecheisen Rochte, Gardner. He was a lifelong Johnson County resident. He had lived in Gardner for three years. He was a graduate of Gardner-Edgerton High School. He was a tree trimmer for Suburban Lawn and Garden for four years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen C. Rochte; great-grandfather, Lee Erskine; and paternal grandparents, Roger and Gladys Rochte.
Survivors include his mother, Judith Rochte, Gardner; one brother, Rhett Rochte, Gardner; one sister, Renee Kramer, Gardner; maternal grandparents, Freddie and Dorothy Brecheisen, Gardner; and great-grandmother, Edythe Erskine, Gardner.
A private family inurnment will be at Gardner Cemetery at a later date.
Marion Roeckers
Marion A. Roeckers, 95, Gardner, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Medicalodge in Gardner.
She was born Jan. 23, 1905, in Joliet, Ill., to Benjamin Stein and Winifred (Welch) Stein. She married Arnold F. Roeckers Oct. 20, 1926, in Joliet. They lived in Joliet until 1945, when they moved to Richmond, Kan.; they moved to Gardner in 1964.
She was a homemaker. She also worked as a fabric clerk at T.G.&Y. in Olathe and in Kansas City, Kan. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gardner, and was an Altar Society member. She was a charter member of UNO, Overland Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Roeckers, in 1969; four brothers, Donald, Charles, Robert and Bertram; and a granddaughter, Pamela Schuman.
Survivors include a son, Robert F. Roeckers, Kansas City, Kan.; three daughters, Colleen Pattison, Lenexa, Evelyn Pickert, Gardner, and Phyllis Hendrickson, Topeka; two sisters, Kathryn Layfield and Dorothy Kirk, both of Joliet; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, with the rosary at 7 p.m., at the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. The mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gardner. Burial will be at St. Columbia Catholic Cemetery, Gardner.

Barbara Jean Rogers, 68, of Olathe, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at her home.
She was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Erie, Pa., the daughter of Bertram C. and Anna A. (Moser) Linsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one son, Ralph Rogers of Olathe; two daughters, Katie Brandon of Olathe and Cyndi Donofrio of N.E., Pa.; three sisters, Layne Applebee of Wattsburg, Pa., Mary Ann White of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jean Thompson of Derby, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

John Rogers
John Edward Rogers, 78, DeSoto, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 13, 1922, in Piper, Kan., the son of William Franklin Rogers and Nellie Lanora Douglas Rogers. He was a lifelong area resident. He was a cement finisher and farmer. He worked for the Local 0518 in Kansas City, Mo., of the Cement Masons. As a young man, he worked on the Union Pacific Railroad. He married Roma June Plummer Rogers on March 21, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo. She died last week, on April 4, 2001.
He was in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of DeSoto No. 6654, and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Homer Rogers; and two sisters, Dorothy Stone and Tootie Shultz.
He is survived by a son, Johnny Rogers and wife, Darla, DeSoto; two daughters, Susie Kramer and husband, and Polly Rogers, all of DeSoto; two sisters, Janie Lawson, DeSoto; and Lavina Sopher, Bonner Springs, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2001, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at the funeral home. Burial will be at DeSoto Cemetery.

Roma Rogers
DESOTO - Roma June Rogers, 74, of DeSoto, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at her home.
She was born October 26, 1926, in DeSoto, the daughter of Joseph Reginald Plummer and Charlotte Oshel Plummer Acuff. She was a lifelong De-Soto resident. She worked as a solderer on the assembly line for King Radio in Olathe for 12 years. She retired in 1989.
She married John E. Rogers in March 1945 in Kansas City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Frank Acuff; and one sister, Viola Jean.
Survivors include a son, Johnny Rogers, DeSoto; two daughters, Susie Kramer and Polly Rogers, both of DeSoto; a brother, Bill Plummer, DeSoto; a half-brother, Luke Acuff, Salem, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at DeSoto Cemetery, DeSoto.

Carolyn Rose
RALEIGH, NC - Carolyn Sue Rose, 56, Raleigh, N.C., died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000.
She was born Feb. 19, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan., to Ernest Winders Jr. and Ethel Ruth (Harrison) Winders. She was a high-school teacher from 1966 to 1971, a homemaker and community volunteer.
She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Tammy Lynn Center, a member of the Board of Directors of Friends of the Children at Wake Medical Center, a past president of the Ladies Golf Association, a member of North Ridge Country Club, and a past president of the Newcomers Club of Raleigh.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Glenn A. Rose, Raleigh; her parents, Ernest and Ruth Winders, Pittsburg, Mo.; two sons, Christopher Rose, Greensboro, N.C., and Kevin Rose, Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, Rick Winders, Pleasanton, Calif., and Larry Winders, Omak, Wash.; and a sister, Linda Gustin, Longboat Key, Fla.
The memorial service was Fridayat the Chapel of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Raleigh.

Charles Rose
EUDORA, KS - Charles E. Rose, 92, DeSoto, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Eudora Nursing Center, Eudora, Kan.
He was born June 17, 1908, in LaCygne. He lived in DeSoto. He worked at Hercules Army Ammunition Plant and did construction for the Shawnee and DeSoto school districts. He retired in 1975 and started selling Fuller, Brush and Massons shoes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella, and son, Kenyon Rose.
Survivors include daughters Karen Russell, Eudora, and Marge Ireland, DeSoto; son Marvin Rose, Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Feb. 11, at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, DeSoto. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12 at the DeSoto United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the DeSoto Cemetery.

Elsie Rose
Elsie I. Rose, 87, Olathe, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at Center for Long-Term Care in Olathe.
She was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Marthasville, Mo., the daughter of William and Annie Sherman. She attended school in Marthasville. She later moved to LaCygne, where she married Herbert P. Rose in 1931. She had made her home in Olathe for the past 60 years. She was a charter member of Victory Baptist Church and was a member of The Harmony Homemakers in Olathe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert P. Rose, in 1985; and a daughter, Betty Palmer.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Jones and Beverly Snellings, both of Olathe; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the W.L. Frye and Son Chapel. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Oak Lawn Cemetery, La Cygne.

Beverly Ross
Beverly Ann Ross, 55, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Jan. 22, at the Olathe Medical Center.
She was born May 5, 1945, in Parkville, Mo., and later moved to Spring Hill. She lived in the rural Gardner area for 20 years, and was originally from Kansas City, Kan.
She worked as a bookkeeper for her husband's construction business and owned and operated a beauty shop out of her home. She attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Paola, and she was a Sunday school teacher and the church librarian. Beverly was a school aid at Oak Grove School in Kansas City, Kan., and also home-schooled three of her children. She attended high school in Jarbelo, Kan., and Henry's Beauty School in Kansas City, Kan. In 1962 she married Robert Louis Ross in Parkville, Mo.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Frances, and one grandson. She is survived by her parents, Mirrel Edmond and Alma Frances Rose Blauvelt, Bonner Springs; four sons, Robert William Ross and wife Jane, Shawnee, Gary Lee Ross, Wellsville, David Wadale Ross, Mission, and Trebor Wiley Ross, Spring Hill; two daughters, Beverly Ross and companion Donna Darlene Holland, Olathe, and Shannon Lynn Ross, Lenexa; brothers, Edmond Blauvelt, Prairie Creek, Ill., Donald Blauvelt, Muscotah, Okla., Henry Hudson Blauvelt, Kansas City, Kan.; sisters, Lucille Garst, Saltillo, Texas, Betty Ray, Lawrence, Bonnie Ray, Bonner Springs, Judy Karnowski, Leavenworth, and six grandchildren.

Fred Roth Sr.
Fred Roth Sr., 85, of Fort Smith, Ark., formerly of Olathe, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at St. Edwards Mercy Hospital, Fort Smith, Ark.
He was born May 29, 1915, in Jackson County, Mo. He is the son of Harry Owens Roth Sr. and Alice Teresa German.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce E. Roth, who died in 1993. He is survived by one son, Stephan Roth Sr., of Conyers, Ga.; three grandchildren, including Justin Roth of Olathe; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2001, at W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
Ethel Rothwell
Ethel Leona Bechler Rothwell, 94, Gardner, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center.
She was born in Olathe March 28, 1905, and moved to Gardner three years ago.
She lived in Ottawa from 1967 to 1997 after living in Edgerton. She lived on farms in Johnson and Franklin counties most of her life. She was a homemaker.
She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gardner and also in parishes in Edgerton and Ottawa. She was a member of the Altar Society in Gardner Parish. She was active in the Home Demonstration Unit Group, the Merry Workers and the Emery Green Club. She was a graduate of Holy Trinity Academy in Lenexa, and also attended KU.
Her husband, John Joseph Rothwell, preceded her in death in 1989. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Bernard Bechler and Ida Pretz Bechler; a grandson, Joe Kelly; a great granddaughter, Jennifer Riley; four sisters, Frances Paulson, Sister Annette Bechler, OSD, Elsie Smith and Teresa Moll; and three brothers, Guy Walker, Otto Walker and Ernest Walker.
Survivors include three sons, John T. Rothwell and Jerome Rothwell, both of Gardner, and James Rothwell of Bonner Springs; three daughters, Mary Guenther and Rita Kelly, both of Gardner, and Rose Patterson, Rantoul; 31 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gardner. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Olathe. Arrangements have been made by Bruce Funeral Home. The family requests memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund or Olathe Hospice.
Judy Rowley
Judy Ann Rowley, 42, Olathe, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at her home.
She was born Oct. 23, 1958, in West Plains, Mo. She lived in Olathe and the Kansas City metropolitan area for the past 18 years. She attended high school in West Plains, Mo.
She was a senior analyst for Sprint, working for the company the past 13 years.
Survivors include her husband, Kim D. Rowley, of the home; a son, Kasey D., of the home; her parents, Betty and Johnny Romans, West Plains, Mo.; three brothers, Vernie Romans, Johnny Ray Romans, and Bobby Romans, all of West Plains, Mo.; and three sisters, Lena Ma Shertz, of West Plains, Mo., Linda Drumright, of West Plains, Mo., and Rita Croney of Thayer, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Hazel Ruddick
Hazel Vander Linden Ruddick, 94, Olathe, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at her home.
She had lived in the Kansas City area since 1965, and in Olathe since 1993.
She was a graduate of Blackburn High School, Blackburn, Mo, and later attended the University of Missouri. She married Joe Ruddick in 1938. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Disciples of Christ Church, the Friends of Art and the Mainstream Coalition; and was a lifelong Democrat.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ruddick, in 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Joe L. Ruddick, Hoboken, N.J., and Peter V. Ruddick, Olathe; a sister, Sally Erdman, Bernardsville, N.J.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Hackler, Olathe; and two granddaughters, Lyndsay and Lauren Ruddick, both of Olathe.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at W.L. Frye and Son Mortuary, Olathe. A private family burial will be later at Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Mo.
Contributions may be made to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
Elnore Rybolt
Elnore Rybolt, 87, Lenexa, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Lakeview Village, Lenexa.
She was born Dec. 24, 1912, in Bonner Springs, Kan., the daughter of George and Gussie (Haffner) Peters. She grew up in Kansas City, Mo., and attended Central High School. She was a 1933 graduate of Kansas City Teacher's College and began her teaching career in the Kansas City School District.
She married Dean Rybolt April 22, 1939, and they moved to Olathe, where they raised Black Angus cattle, and had lived in Johnson County since then. She returned to teaching in 1959, and taught kindergarten in the Shawnee Mission and Olathe school districts until retiring in 1971.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe, where she was in Ladies Circle, and Bible study groups. She was a member of Chapter HL, P.E.O., and did volunteer work at Havencroft and Brougham elementary schools, the church office and the hospital gift shop. She also was active in the Oxford Homemakers Extension Unit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Rybolt, May 13, 1984.
Survivors include a son, Gary Rybolt, Mesquite, Texas; a daughter, Deanna Moeder, Manhattan, Kan.; a granddaughter, Leanna Wartburg, Mesquite; two grandsons, Dean Rybolt, Pompano Beach, Fla., and Paul Rybolt, Mesquite; a great-grandson, Michael Wartburg; and nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 13, at Grace United Methodist Church on Ridgeview, Olathe. Private interment.
