Katherine Weaver
Funeral services for Katherine L. (Mahaffie) Weaver, 73, Olathe will be at 10 a.m. today at the W.L. Frye and Son Chapel, Olathe. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Olathe. She died Thursday, March 16, at her home. She was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Olathe, the daughter of Ruel D. and Lena Marie Mahaffie, and was a lifelong Olathe resident. She worked for Good Samaritan Nursing Home and later as a cook at the Kansas School for the Deaf, retiring in 1989. She was also a member of the Olathe V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 2993. She was married to Charles Weaver in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jackie Weaver; a daughter, Jo Ann Hoobler; and a brother, Raymond Mahaffie. Survivors include a son, Russell Weaver, Overland Park; three daughters, Bonnie Spencer, Shawnee, and Terry Beck and Fredia Williams, both of Olathe; three brothers, Claude Mahaffie , Augusta, Ga, and Lee Mahaffie and Paul Mahaffie, both of Olathe; three sisters, Eloise Patrick, Virginia Runnels and Minnie Midyett, all of Olathe; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice.

Alma Weber
DESOTO - Alma Fay Weber, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at her home in De Soto. She was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Dennard, Ark. She lived in both Arkansas and DeSoto. She graduated from Clinton High School, Clinton, Ark. She worked as a ship builder for Kaiser Liberty Ship in California in 1944 during World War II. She also worked as an assembler for King Radio and retired in the 1980s. She married Orville "Archie" Weber on Jan. 22, 1955, in De Soto. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, May 2, 1999; and two sisters, Velma Frost and Erma Kennon. Survivors include a son, Ronald Weber, Olathe; and two grandchildren, Hayley and Ryan, both of Paola. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. today at DeSoto United Methodist Church. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. today at the church. Burial will be at the DeSoto Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Diabetes Foundation. Arrangements are by the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner.

Michael Weissmann
Michael W. Weissmann, 51, Olathe, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Olathe Medical Center. He was born April 8, 1948, in Chicago. He had lived in Overland Park the past two years, coming here from Tulsa, Okla. He worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway for 30 years in various operating positions. He had begun his career as a carman and had progressed through various exempt positions, including car foreman, general car foreman, trainmaster and superintendent, to his most recent position as assistant vice president of technical training. He was a member of the American Association of Railway Officers. Survivors include his wife, Susan Weissmann, of the home; a son, Daniel Weissmann, Chicago; a daughter, Kathryn "Kacy" Weissmann, of the home; his mother, Connie Weissmann, Chicago; three brothers, Ron Weissmann and Bill Weissmann, both of Chicago, and Ken Weissmann, Milwaukee; and four sisters, Diane Weissmann, Phoenix, Janet Gray and Roberta Weissmann, both of Lockport, Ill., and Mary Adams, Houston. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe. The mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Olathe. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Olathe. Brook West
Brook Tyler West, infant daughter of Tyler and Brandyn West, Lenexa, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at her home. She was born Aug. 27, 2000, in Overland Park. Survivors include her parents; two brothers, Blake and Brady; her grandparents, Eric and Connie Kesselring, and Chuck and Patty West; and her great-grandparents L.H. Kesselring, Helen Johnson and Doris Druley. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the Central Church of the Nazarene, Lenexa. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Friends may stop by the home of Eric and Connie Kesselring this weekend to visit with the family. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Central Church of the Nazarene Building Fund. The memorials will be directed to the nursery.

Brittany White
Brittany Marie White, 12, Corinth, Texas, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at home, of inoperable brain cancer. She had been ill for a year. She was born Jan. 21, 1988, and lived in Corinth. She was a cheerleader and was active in sports at her elementary school in Corinth. She also played piano. Survivors include her parents, Susan and Randell White, and a brother, all of the home; and a great-grandmother, Marie Morris, Olathe. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, Corinth. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn., or to any cancer-research group.

Joyce White
Joyce Marie White, 82, Gardner, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Medicalodge of Gardner. She was born near Fredonia in rural Wilson County on Aug. 5, 1917, to Charles William Gable and Hazel June Partington Gable. She moved to Gardner 12 years ago. As a child, she lived in Wilson County, then moved to Alden, Kan. She was a graduate of Alden High School. She married Charles Eugene White in 1935 in Alden. She also lived a short time in Odin, Ill., and then moved to Pawnee County, Kan., and lived in Larned more than 40 years. She was a switchboard operator for Larned State Hospital for eight years and eight months, retiring in 1983. She also was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Gardner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1985; two brothers; and a sister. Survivors include a son, Laurence E. White, Hemet, Calif.; a daughter, Joyce Elaine Carrier, Gardner; two brothers, Harold Gabel, Chase, Kan., Verle Gable, Exeter, Mo.; four sisters, Shirley Bower, Loveland, Colo., Fain Boley, Republic, Mo., Edith Mae Reidel, Bellevue, Wash., and Donna Graves, Shell Knob, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at the First Baptist Church, Gardner; the funeral will follow at 10 a.m. at the church. Lenora White
Lenora Violet Pryor White, 75, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center. She was born May 18, 1925, the daughter of Ada B. and Tipton W. Pryor near Edwards, Mo. She was a long-time resident of Wellington, Mo., moving to Olathe 15 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abner P. White; brothers, William, Raymond, Victor and Paul Pryor, and a sister, Bernita Urban. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Merlin Ring, Olathe; brothers, Olin Pryor and Donald Pryor of Warrensburg, Mo., and Harold Gene Pryor, Raytown, Mo.; sisters, Berniece Adams, Lorena Swisher, and May Goodwin of Warrensburg, Mo., and Althea Adams, Blue Springs, Mo.; and two grandchildren. The family will receive visitors at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, with services following at 2 p.m. at the W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. Burial will be at Greenton Cemetery near Odessa, Mo. Mary White
Mary J. (Pollner) White, 88, of Overland Park, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000 at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home. She was born April 23, 1912 in Olathe, the daughter of Simon and Mary (Kugerl) Pollner. She was a lifelong resident of the area, and attended the Gardner Friends Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Leonard White; two brothers, John and Simon Wesonig; and sister Josephine Hart. She is survived by her brother Frank Pollner, San Diego, Calif. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the W.L. Frye & Son Mortuary and Crematory, Olathe. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe.

William White
William "Bill" LeRoy White, 79, Overland Park, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at his home. He was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Kansas City, Kan., to Mr. and Mrs. Edward R. White. He grew up in Kansas City, Kan., and was a 1938 graduate of Wyandotte High School. During the late 1930s, he was a member of the Huron Chapter of the Order of DeMolay. He began working as a machinist apprentice for the Rock Island Railroad at Armourdale, Kan., in December 1940. Enlisting in July 1942, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, in the Pacific. A member of the 2nd Engineer Special Brigade, 592nd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment, he saw combat in New Guinea, New Britain and the Philippines. In October 1945, he returned to Rock Island as a journeyman locomotive machinist and diesel maintainer. He also worked for the Frisco Railroad, at the 19th Street roundhouse, and for North American Aviation's Fairfax Assembly Division. In July 1956, he became a tool-and-die maker for Delco Battery in Olathe, where he worked until retiring in 1982. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1021. He was a Mason, and a 53-year member of Westgate Lodge 438, A.F. and A.M. He married Mary Ann "Terry" Cunningham on Sept. 8, 1947; she preceded him in death in 1998. He is survived by two sons, William White, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Michael White, Prairie Village. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, with Masonic services at 8 p.m., at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Overland Park. Charlotte Whitsett
Charlotte Ellen Whitsett, 78, of Olathe, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Sterling House in Olathe. She was born April 20, 1922, in Harrisonville, Ill., the daughter of John Odle and Iva Pearl Hall Odle. She was a lifelong resident of Belleville and East St. Louis, Ill. She married Morwood F. Whitsett, on Sept. 2, 1946, in East St. Louis, Ill. She moved to Gardner, to be closer to her daughter in September 1998. She was a bookkeeper for 20 years at Landshire Foods in Belleville, Ill. She retired in May 1998. She was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, four brothers and one granddaughter. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Drovetta and husband, David, Gardner,and Anne M. Keck, and husband, Paul, Belleville, Ill.; one brother, John Odle, Peoria, Ill.; three sisters, Mildred Badgerow, Peoria, Ill., Wilma McHale, Cahokie, Ill., and Jean Thomas, Freeburg, Ill.; and six grandchildren. The visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill. Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at St. Henry's Catholic Church; burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Ill. Memorial contributions maybe made to the church or a charity of the donor's choice. Bruce Funeral Home of Gardner is in charge of local arrangements.

Lyle Whitworth Jr.
Lyle Wayne Whitworth Jr., 32, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born in Trenton, Mo., on June 26, 1968. He lived in Olathe for 10 years and later moved to Gardner. He graduated from Paola High School in 1986 and received a bachelor's degree in telecommunications management from DeVry in 1997. In 1987 he married Judy Mohlfeld Whitworth on Oct. 3, 1987, in Paola. He worked at Children's Mercy Hospital as a senior network system analyst. He also worked at Morrison and Hecker Law Firm as a computer technician coordinator for two years and as a tech analyst for Sprint for one year and Western Auto for one year. He also worked at Lab One for eight years. He was certified as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Microsoft Professional Plus Internet, and a Cisco Certified Network Associate. He is preceded in death by his sister, Lyla Lynn Whitworth and his grandmother, Anna Mary Mathers/Herron. He is survived by his wife, of the home; mother, Margaret Sykes Whitworth, Lenexa; brother, Randy Lee Whitworth, Lenexa; and grandmother, Della Tolle, Trenton, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 3 at Bruce Funeral Home. Burial will be at Gardner Cemetery. Caitlyn Wicke
Caitlyn Wren Wicke, 1, died Saturday at her home in Platte City, Mo. She was born Aug. 24, 1998, in Shawnee Mission, Kan., the daughter of Steve Wicke, Olathe, and Kristi A. Wicke, Platte City, Mo. Survivors include her parents; two brothers, Carson Wade Wicke, of the home, and Ben Wicke, Olathe; and five grandparents, Ivan and Betty Wicke, Olathe, Toni Wicke, Minneapolis, Minn., and Bill and Becky Wagner, Destin, Fla. Dorothy Wickham
Dorothy M. Wickham, 73, Olathe, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at her home. She was born March 7, 1928, in Fort Scott, and had lived in Olathe since 1932. She worked in the kitchen at the Mustache Cup in Olathe for 15 years before retiring. She had also worked at both the Federal Aviation Administration and Johnson County Courthouse cafeterias. She was a member of the American Legion Earl Collier Post No. 153 Auxiliary for 36 years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Griselda Bagby, and her stepfather, John Bagby. Survivors include an aunt, Mildred Martz, Salem, Ore.; four cousins, Alma Newton, Oak Hill, Kan., Elsie Reiswig, Marion, Kan., Florence Goodson, Little Rock, Ark., and Laura Abell, Kansas City, Kan.; and a friend, Joe Wright, Olathe. William Widmer
William "Bill" C. Widmer, 45, formerly of the Gardner-Edgerton area, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at his rural home in Barnesville, Minn. He was born Jan. 25, 1955, in Gardner to Casper and Hester (Prewitt) Widmer. He grew up in Gardner-Edgerton, and was a 1973 graduate of Gardner-Edgerton High School. He later lived eight years in Parkville, Mo., before moving to Minnesota in 1997. On Nov. 24, 1990, he married Vicki Berglund in Olathe. He was a mechanic, maintenance engineer and welder for Nelson International and Amity Technologies in Fargo, N.D., for three years. He also had been a foreman for William A. Smith Contracting in Kansas City, Kan., while living in Parkville, Mo., and had worked for Swift Eckrich Co. in Kansas City, Mo., and the Dakota Railroad. He was a member of the Gloria Dei Church in Platte Woods, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father Casper Widmer in 1997. Survivors include his wife, Vicki, of the home in Minnesota; two daughters, Amanda Haakenson, Kansas City, Mo., and Jennifer Widmer, Olathe; his mother, Hester Widmer, Edgerton; three sisters, Sharon Morgan, Edgerton,Diane Sawyer, Olathe, and Nancy Ballard, New London, Iowa; two brothers, Robert Widmer, Kansas City, Mo., and Roger Widmer, Kansas City, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews. Benjamin Wilhite
Benjamin (Ben) Riley Wilhite, 92, of Humboldt, Kan., died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at the Neosho Memorial Center in Chanute, Kan. He was born on Oct. 14, 1908, in Wright County, Mo., the son of John and Elmine (Oliphant) Wilhite. At the age of 3, the family moved to Moran, Kan., then to Humboldt, Kan., in 1914. He married Mary Gilbraith on June 22, 1930. She and baby daughter, Benny Jo, preceded him in death December 1945. He married Doris Lassman on Aug. 23, 1948, at Edwardsville, Ill. She survives at the home. He worked for the Monarch Cement Company as a young man, Drakes bakery from 1930-1937 and others until 1941. He owned Humboldt Bakery from 1941 to 1946. He worked with Great Lakes Company in Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma, Colorado and Wyoming. He owned the Oil Well Servicing Company from 1953 until his retirement in 1985. His hobbies included sports and gardening, Coaching Little League and youth baseball for several years. He was a member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church, Men's club and Senior Choir, both of the church. Others preceding him in death included five sisters, Ora Helisbeck, Emma Yockey, Lillian Barlow, Bernice Bain and Bertha Hunt; two brothers, Lloyd Eugene Wilhite and John Wilhite Jr. ; a daughter, Wanonia; and a son-in-law, Gilbert Elrod. Survivors include his wife, Doris Wilhite, Humboldt, Kan.; one son, Carl Wilhite, Olathe; one brother, Lester Wilhite, Humboldt, Kan.; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. David Meier officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kan. Family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. at the church before the service today. Memorials may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church or to American Lung Association and may be left at the Johnson Kunkel Mortuary in Humboldt.

Weona Wilkinson
Weona J. Wilkinson, 67, of Spring Hill died Monday, March 20, 2000, after a six-month battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 20, 1932, in Alexander City, Ala., the daughter of Richard and Almeda (Newman) Forbus. She was a member of Vista Baptist Church, Olathe. Survivors include her husband, Don Wilkinson, of the home; eight children, Merle Davis of California; Pat Williams and Dee Kotla of California, Amelia Forbus of Ohio, James Carr of Arizona, and Lee Gray, Robert Gray, and Rhonda Gray Gemhardt all of Kansas; two sisters, Lillian Stephens and Hazel Sanders, both of Alabama; one brother, Richard Forbus of Arizona; 17 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at Vista Baptist Church, Olathe. She was cremated. The family requests no flowers at her memorial service. She requested that she be remembered with donations of blankets, which will be distributed to children on the Indian reservations she had visited and to children in an orphanage in Mexico. Barbara Williams
Barbara Ann Williams, 89, Olathe, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001 at the Center for Long Term Care in Olathe. She was born Nov, 7, 1911, in Energy, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Laura (Clendenin) Horn. She attended the Bellefontaine Baptist Church in St. Louis, Mo., for 47 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James A. "Buck" Williams; and a daughter, Patricia Hayden. Survivors include a daughter Diane Gray and her husband, Gary, Olathe; a sister, Katie Vancil, Dowell, Ill.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at the Math-Hermann and Son Funeral Chapel, St. Louis, Mo. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

James Williams Sr.
Elder James E. Williams Sr., 57, formerly of Olathe, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 2, 1943, in Marshall, Mo., the son of James Franklin Williams and Georgia Elizabeth Brown. He had lived in Olathe 30 years and in the Kansas City area all his life. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a shipping clerk for Wilcox Electronics in Kansas City for 20 years, before being a shipping clerk for Vectron International in Olathe the past 12 years. He was a member, a deacon, and later an ordained elder, at the Church of the Living God for 20 years. He also was a member of the men's choir at the church. Survivors include his wife, Delphine "Della" Williams, of the home; a son, Sean Ryan Williams, Lenexa; a daughter, Rhonda Miles, Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, George Washington, Skokie, Ill., and Todd Williams, Evanston, Ill.; three sisters, Carolyn Hudson, Bowlinbrook, Ill., Sandra Williams, Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Catherine Williams, Des Plain, Ill.; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Living God, Olathe. Burial will be at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery in Olathe.

Kenneth Williams
Kenneth Williams, 51, of Olathe, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the Olathe Medical Center following a long illness. He worked at Toys R Us, Long John Silvers, City of Olathe: Street Maintenance, and most recently at Myron Green. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amy A. Clark and Ernest Williams. He is survived by his godmother, Barbara Cartwright, and goddaughter, Sylvia Stanford, both of Olathe. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. today at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe. Irene Wilson
Irene L. Wilson, 88, of Olathe, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Overland Park. She was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Georgetown, Miss., the daughter of Henry and Emma Bell (Harwell) Beasley. She had lived in Olathe since 1990, coming from Texas. She attended the DeSoto Baptist Church and was in the Side By Side Singers and Strutters at the Olathe Senior Citizen Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include, one daughter, Mel Coe, of Olathe; several brothers and sisters, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. James Wilson
James W. Wilson, 67, Olathe, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Trinity Lutheran Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. He was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Mexico, Mo., the son of Frank C. Wilson and Mary M. (Seymour) Wilson. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1953. He worked at TWA in the 1950s. He was an Olathe resident for 36 years. He owned the Western Auto store in Olathe from 1965 to 1972, and J and M Furniture from 1972 until his retirement in 1997; he was a past member of the Olathe Chamber of Commerce. He attended Unity Temple on the Plaza. He also was an amateur radio operator. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Wilson, of the home; a son, Steve Wilson, Ames, Iowa; two daughters, Cindy Plagge, Lebanon, Mo., and Diana Sykes, Spring Hill; and 13 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the funeral home. Mary Wilson
Mary Ann Wilson, 66, Olathe, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at the home. Wilson was born Dec. 23, 1934, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Jesse D. Phillippe and Gladys F. (Goede) Phillippe. She was a resident of the greater Kansas City Metropolitan area for 46 years and a resident of Olathe for 36 years and attended Unity Temple on the Country Club Plaza. Wilson was married to James W. Wilson Nov., 1953. He died May 14, 2000. Wilson worked with her husband at their family owned Western Auto Store in Olathe from 1965-1972, and later worked for RO Corporation, of Olathe, in customer service and administration for 25 years. She retired in 1998. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include one son, Steven Wilson and his wife Sarah, of Ames, Iowa; two daughters, Cindy Plagge and her husband, Bob, of Lebanon, Mo., and Diana Sykes and son-in-law, Mike, of Spring Hill; and 14 grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Olathe Hospice Division of the Olathe Medical Center.

Robert Wilson
Robert Harrison Wilson, 70, Olathe, died at 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Carthage, Mo., to Robert and Myrtle (Archer) Wilson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 in Korea. He was a firefighter at the Carthage Fire Department, owned and operated the Park Roller Rink from 1968 to 1977, and was later employed by the R-9 School District. After serious health issues, he moved to Olathe, where he had lived until his death. Survivers include two sons, Paul D. Wilson, Overland Park, and Brian G. Wilson, Lee's Summit, Mo.; a brother, William "Harlon" Wilson, Lewisville, Texas; a sister, Helen Mae Myers, Carthage, Mo.; and six grandchildren. The memorial service was May 1 at the Knell Mortuary, Carthage, followed by a graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage.

Donald Winfiel
Donald G. Winfiel, 55, Olathe, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at his home. He was born June 28, 1945, in Springfield, Mo., the son of Gordon D. and Erma Mae (Brower) Winfiel. He had lived in Olathe for 25 years. He was in the U.S. Navy, and was a Vietnam veteran. He married Patricia Woolsey in 1968. He graduated with a marketing degree at Southern Missouri State University, and he worked at Williams Foods in Lenexa for 12 years. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Patricia Winfiel, of the home; his mother, Erma Winfiel, Springfield, Mo.; and two sisters, Bonnie Ward and Barbara Estes, both of Springfield, Mo. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, at W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made at either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Samuel Winston
STILWELL - Samuel Robert Winston, 82, Stilwell, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at the Indian Creek Nursing Center, Overland Park. He was born July 31, 1918, in Stilwell where he lived all his life. He was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Stilwell Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, and the Johnson County Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John R. Winston and Herbert L. Winston. Survivors include his nephew, Raymond L. Winston, Stilwell; a niece Kathie Thomas, Stilwell; four great nephews; and two great nieces. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 143rd Street and Black Bob Road, 768-6777. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Stilwell Baptist Church. He will be buried at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Stilwell Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
