Kelly Abfalder
Kelly J. Abfalder, 26, Kansas City, MO, died Friday, April 12, 2002. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Charter Funerals/Kansas Chapel, 10250 W. 63rd St. Cremation. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
Kelly was born July 2, 1975, in Dickinson, ND. He grew up in Gladstone, ND, and moved to Kansas City at the age of 13. He graduated from Olathe South High School, worked briefly for J.C. Penney's and then moved on to computer technician at Gateway and, most recently, as a consultant for the USDA. On Oct. 13, 2001, he married his lifetime love, Erin Wieglenda.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill; his mother, Vicki; and stepfather, Wilbur Hone. He is survived by his wife, Erin, of the home; brothers, Jeremy Naber and Victor Abfalder, both of Olathe; grandmother, Irma Vienola, Olathe; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was well loved, and we will miss him dearly.
Victoria Abfalder
Victoria Lynne Abfalder, 50, of Olathe died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at her home, surrounded by family and friends. Memorial services will be Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living, 1306 W. 39th St., Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kansas City Hospice or Olathe Meals on Wheels.
Victoria was born Oct. 9, 1951, to Eric and Irma Ellis in Great Falls, MT. She was the oldest of seven children. She married David Naber in 1969 in Seattle, WA. She divorced in 1973 and married William Abfalder in 1975 in Dickinson, ND. After separating, she moved to the Kansas City area to be closer to her family. Victoria had worked for the J.C. Penney's company since July 1988.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Deborah Fischer; her father, Eric R. Ellis; and two husbands, William Abfalder and Wilber Hone. She is survived by her children, Jeremy Naber and Victor Abfalder, both of Olathe, Kelly Abfalder and his wife Erin, Kansas City, MO; mother, Irma Vienola, Olathe; three brothers, Eric D. Ellis, Manitou Springs, CO, Robert Ellis, Lee's Summit, MO, and Jeffery Ellis-Vienola, Springdale, AR; and sisters, Stephanie Seymour, Ottawa, KS, and Theresa Wallace, Ukiah, CA.

Geloria B. Adkins
Geloria B. Adkins, 88, of Olathe passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Olathe Medical Center.
She was born May 15, 1914, in Wheaton, MO, the daughter of Alex and Hattie (Glenn) Diamond. She had been a resident of Olathe since 1987, coming from Spring Hill, KS. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Olathe since 1972 and was a member of the Sunshine Pals Club for more than 50 years. Geloria also worked at the Johnson County Courthouse as a clerk for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Walter (Dan) Adkins, in September 2001; two brothers, Irvin Diamond and Clifford Diamond; and one sister, Blanche McNeese.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet Kleber and her husband, David, of Olathe; one brother, Joe Diamond and his wife, Velma, of Peculiar, MO; one granddaughter, Robin Allenbrand and her husband, Randy, of Olathe; two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Karlyn Allenbrand of Olathe; and one brother-in-law, Leo McNeese of Lee's Summit, MO.

Walter Adkins
Walter W. (Dan) Adkins, 89, of Olathe Kansas died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at Royal Terrace Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 13, 1912.
Survivors include his wife, Geloria Adkins, of the home; daughter, Janet Keleber and husband, David, of Olathe; Granddaughter, Robin Allenbrand and husband, Randy, and two great-grandchildren, all of Olathe.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at W. L. Fry and Son Mortuary and Crematory of Olathe.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Belton Cemetery, Belton, Mo., followed by a memorial service at First Christian Church of Olathe.

Neilon Ainslie
Neilon J. Ainslie, 73, Lincoln, NE, died Thursday, March 7, 2002, in an auto accident near Parkston, SD.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Grace Ainslie, Overland Park; four children, Jim Ainslie, Kenewick, WA, Edie Green, Overland Park, Steve Ainslie, Jackson, WY, and Andy Ainslie, Rapid City; 11 grandchildren; one great-granchild; two sisters, Helen Bristol, Argyle, NY, and Alice Gardella, Oneonta, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 15, at Rimrock Evangelical Free Church. Inurnment will be at Hartwick Village Cemetery, Hartwick, NY, at a later date. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.

Landon Fletcher Akings, 75, of Olathe, KS, passed away at the Olathe Medical Center Monday, March 3, 2003. Mr. Akings was born Feb. 29, 1928, in Bristol, VA, living in Olathe the past 30 years coming from Galatia and Russell, KS, areas. He and his wife Jane were owner-operators of the Oxford Place Steak House in Olathe the past 27 years.
He leaves his wife, Jane Akings of the home; daughter, Shirley and husband Larry Foust of Hutchinson, KS; son, Dean and wife Lily Akings of Great Bend, KS; daughter, Diana and husband Larry Aelmore of Olathe, KS; daughter, Betty Quinn of Olathe, KS; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed gardening; sports, specifically the K.C. Chiefs and KU Jayhawks; and pet dogs, "Bozo and Mr. Mick."
Donald K. Aldred
Donald K. Aldred, 73, of E. Chapel Dr., Deltona, FL, died at home on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003. Mr. Aldred was born in Lapel, IN, on April 26, 1930. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Aldred was a processing engineer for Delco Remy in Anderson, IN, and Olathe, KS, and retired after 32 years of service. In 1989 he and his wife moved to Deltona, FL. He was a member of Deltona Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Deltona, FL; Masonic Lodge, Anderson, IN; and Scottish Rite, Indianapolis, IN. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty; sons, Thomas Kevin Aldred of St. Louis, MO, and Donald Aldred II of Davenport, FL; daughter, Lynn Ellen Annis of Slatine, Romania; sister, Helen Trimble of Lockport, NY; and seven grandchildren. Emmaline Allen
Emmaline Josephine Allen, 90, DeSoto, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at the Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born Aug. 16, 1911, in Ottawa, Kan. She moved to DeSoto in 1941. She worked as a cook at The Sandwich and Grill Shop, Musick Diary Joy and Osburns Drive Inn. Her and her husband owned the New Deal Shop in DeSoto.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey H. Allen, and two daughters, Wilma Canaday and Alice Fulkerson.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence Allen and wife Sally of DeSoto; a daughter, Vonnie Steele and husband, Burrel of DeSoto; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Crest Memorial, 32665 Lexington Avenue, DeSoto. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Gridley, Kan.

Marilyn Allen
Marilyn Elaine Allen, 49, of Gardner, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 10, 1952, in Gardner to Thomas William and Elizabeth E. "Bettie" Fraser, and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Gardner High School in 1970. Her first husband was Larry Gene Hancock. She married Kirk Allen Nov. 7, 1986, in Gardner.
She was a receptionist for Radke, Hannah & Oltjen Orthodontists in Olathe. She also had worked at the Olathe Daily News as a typesetter for 15 years and had run Allen Daycare for 10 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gardner. She was a member of the Gardner American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth E. "Bettie" Fraser.
Survivors include her husband, Kirk Allen, of the home; three sons, Kevin Michael Hancock, of Mound City, Kan., Jeffrey James Allen, of the home, and Zackary William Allen, of the home; two daughters, Kelly Denise Gretencord and her husband, Ryan, of Edgerton, Kan., and Haley Elizabeth Allen, of the home; her father, Thomas William "Bill" Fraser, of Gardner; two brothers, Mike Fraser and his wife, Tina, of Gardner, and Rick Fraser and his wife, Tamara, of Charlotte, N.C.; and one sister, Bobbi Rath and her husband, Paul, of Gardner.

Fred Allenbrand
Fred Allenbrand, 68, of Olathe died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002.
Fred was born in Whitesville, MO, May 5, 1933, to Pearl Smith and A.C. Allenbrand. He grew up on a farm north of Olathe and graduated from Olathe High School in 1951.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Tye Allenbrand of the home; daughters Cindy and husband, Bob Barnes, and Karen Wiggin, all of Olathe; son Kent and wife, Guylene Allenbrand, of Ft. Collins, CO; and grandchildren Beth and Brian Barnes, Matthew and Meghan Wiggin, and Cole, Cody and Cooper Allenbrand.
Fred was the oldest of 13 children, who all survive him: Roger Allenbrand of Spring Hill, KS; Woody Allenbrand of Oak Grove, MO; Curtis Allenbrand of Olathe; Kenny Allenbrand of Olathe; Leland Allenbrand of Paola, KS; Dennis Allenbrand of Pittsburg, KS; Marilyn Severin of Big Harbor, WA; Nell Ann Dean of Osage Beach, MO; Patsy Jackson of Merced, CA; Leila Chance of Richardson, TX; Judy Roberts of Olathe; and Mary Jo McDaniel of DeSoto, KS.
Fred was elected sheriff of Johnson County, KS, in 1967 and served continuously until he retired in January 2001.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Olathe, the Lenexa Masonic Lodge, Abdallah Shrine Temple, the Kansas Sheriff Association, the Kansas Peace Officers Association, National Sheriffs Association, National Chiefs Association and numerous civic and law enforcement organizations.
The College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 E. Sheridan Ave., Olathe, will graciously accommodate the visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, as well as funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20.

She was born in Olathe, KS, June 8, 1962, attended Olathe Senior High School and graduated in 1979.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clark W. Draper, and her mother, Doris J. Kabrich. Survivors include her husband, Basil Allenbrand; her daughters, Halley Toft and Katy Tinker; her brother, Clark W. Draper III of Harper's Ferry, WV; and her sister, Teresa Rodriguez of Copperas Cove, TX; three nieces and a nephew.
Lucile Allenbrand
Lucile Allenbrand, 77, of Lawrence, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 15, 1923, in Darlington, Mo., to Grant and Mabel (Thompson) Allenbrand.
Lucile lived in the Kansas City area for 49 years before moving to Lawrence in 1994. She was a clerk at Western Auto Supply Co. in Kansas City, Mo., for 41 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Olathe and also attended Hyde Park Christian Church of Kansas City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one brother, Dorris Allenbrand of Linwood, Kan.; and three sisters, Geneva Craig of Bonner Springs, Kan., Dorothy Gannon of Lawrence, Kan., and Joyce Shaver, of Oskaloosa, Kan.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe.

Zona Kathryn Ambrose, 81, Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Independence Regional Medical Center. Jack Anderson
Jack D. Anderson, 66, Spring Hill, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001.
He was born Feb. 6, 1935, in Elk City, Kan. He graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1953. He married Dixie L. Knight on Aug. 20, 1954. He served as one of the first police reserve officers and then went on to be police chief in Spring Hill in the early 1960s. He volunteered as a firefighter and was fire chief for the Spring Hill Fire Department from 1971 to 1975. He also ran his sod business for 42 years, before turning it over to his son due to health reasons. He was a member of the Spring Hill Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur C. Anderson; a sister, Helen Shearheart; and a daughter, Rebecca L. Anderson.
Survivors include his wife Dixie L. Knight Anderson, of the home; two sons Danny D. Anderson and David L. Anderson, both of Spring Hill; grandchildren Kimberly E. Reeves, Lawrence, Kevin D. Anderson, Spring Hill, Jacqueline D. Anderson, Spring Hill, and Joshua D. Anderson, Spring Hill.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Spring Hill Cemetery. Masonic services.

Rod Anderson
Rod Anderson, 95, of Amarillo, TX, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 3003. Graveside services were held Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Amarillo, with Bob Thomas, chaplain at Crown of Texas Hospice, officiating. Burial was at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rod was born Jan. 1, 1907, in the Ash Flat, Coal County of Indian Territory, Oklahoma. He was the third of eight children born to Henry Edward and Emma Malinda Scott Anderson. He married Geneva Harkins Aug. 9, 1931, at the First Baptist Church in Beckham County, OK. Their first home was a dugout northwest of Vincent, OK. On Aug. 9, 2002, they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
Mr. Anderson began his oil field career in 1926, a career that lasted over 70 years. The family moved to Fluvanna Community in 1955 from Midland, TX, beginning his work as a pumper for Lomax Drilling of Midland. They later sold out to Pip Petroleum of Detroit, MI. He retired at the age of 88 to move to Amarillo to be closer to family.
He was preceded in death by one son, Lewis Edward; his parents; one sister, Cora Mae Perry, on Aug. 13, 2000, at the age of 97; and his brothers, Marvin, Oran Henry, Hubert and Donald Perry.
Rod entered Bivins Memorial Nursing Home in August 2002 after suffering a stroke.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; two daughters, Janice Hughes and friend, Jerry Pickens, of Amarillo and Helen and husband, Bebe Porter, of Olathe; grandchildren, Dana and Kal Higgs of Amarillo, Tim and Kelly Smallwood of Amarillo, Pamela and Gary Middleton of Deer Park, MN, Rodney Porter of Olathe; great-grandchildren, Kallie and Kyle Higgs, and Yvette and Saira Smallwood.
William Lee Anderson
William Lee Anderson, 37, of Olathe, KS, formerly of Tolono, IL, passed away at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Freese Funeral Home, 407 N. Bourne, Tolono, with David Richardson officiating. Burial will be at Mulberry Grove City Cemetery, Mulberry Grove, IL. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Anderson was born Sept. 25, 1965, at Effingham, a son of William L. Anderson of Savoy and Donna Hatfill Anderson of Tolono. They survive. Also surviving: stepmother, Elizabeth Anderson, Savoy, IL; one sister, Tracy Calhoun, Orion, IL; two stepsisters, Lisa Vieth, Madison, WI, and Shelley Stewart, Champaign, IL; and maternal grandmother, Nina Hatfill, Girard, IL.
Mr. Anderson graduated from Unity High School in 1984. He was an independent contractor in the Kansas City, KS, area for 19 years. Most recently, he was employed with Strickland Construction Co. in Olathe. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his cats and dogs.

Barbara Apgar
Barbara "Bobbe" Apgar, 83, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002, at the home of her daughter, Michele, in Kansas City, MO.
Bobbe was born June 26, 1918, to Harry and Lillian Chesrown Markewitz near Redmon, IL. In 1941, she married Thomas Apgar, who preceded her in death in 1986. She lived in Brocton most of her married life, where she was a longtime member and teacher at the Brocton Methodist Church. They moved to Paris in the early 1970s. In 1995, for health reasons, she moved to Kansas City to reside with Michele.
She is survived by a brother, Gene Markewitz of Redmon, IL; her daughter, Michele Roberts, and husband, David, of Kansas City; two sons, Tim and his wife, Sue, of Independence, MO, and Jeff and his wife, Patti, of Olathe; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 3, at 10 a.m. at Stewart & Carroll Funeral Home in Paris, IL, with burial at Embarrass Cemetery to follow. Contributions are welcome at the Brocton Methodist Church or the Brocton Seniors Center, both in Brocton, IL.
Evan Applegate
Evan Roger Applegate, 64, of Linn Valley, Kan., died on Oct. 12, 2001.
He was born May 5, 1938, in Kansas City, Kan., to Francis R. and Charlieann Applegate.
He graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1956. After graduation he attended Kansas City, Mo., Junior College for a short time and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After his discharge, he attended the University of Kansas. He was married on June 2, 1963, to Marilyn Patricia Barrett in Cottonwood Falls, Kan.
He lived for 25 years in Spring Hill and was a member of the Spring Hill Volunteer Fire Department. He moved to Linn Valley 15 months ago and was a volunteer at the fire department there. He also volunteered at Johnson County Civil Defense. He ended his employment after 20 years at University of Kansas Medical Center working in biomedical engineering and telecommunications.
He was a member of College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Pat; a daughter, Rebecca Fisher, of Newton, Kan.; a son, Matthew Applegate, of Spring Hill; his mother, Charlieann Applegate, of Hays, Kan.; three brothers, Francis R. (Ted), of Hays, Kan., Rodney, of Bridgeport, W.V., and Alan, of Roswell, N.M.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. today at College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe. Evan has requested donation of his body to the University of Kansas Medical Center. Ruth F. Armontrout, 75, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, in Portland OR.
She was born March 2, 1927, and married Arnold Armontrout on Aug. 9, 1947, in Atchison, KS.

Judy Arterburn
Judy Arterburn, 63, Olathe, died April 25, 2001, at her home.
She was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of William and Hazel (Gardner) Cook.
She lived in Olathe for the past 28 years, coming from Kansas City, Kan. She was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, in Kansas City, Mo. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1955. She married her high-school sweetheart, John Arterburn, on Oct. 5, 1956. She worked at Santa Fe Trail Junior High School as a library clerk for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, John, of the home; two sons, John D. Arterburn Jr., Olathe, and Joseph D. Arterburn, Overland Park; one daughter, Jeanne R. DuPont, Olathe; two brothers, William Cook, Alaska, and Dale Cook, Oregon; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary being said at 7 p.m., Sunday, at W.L. Frye and Son Mortuary and Crematory, Olathe. Greta Ash
Greta Ann Cagle-Ash, 57, of Lenexa, died Sept. 19, 2001, at her home.
She was employed at the J.C. Penny Catalog Center.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Ash; children, Glenda Kirk, Manus L. Cagle Jr., Anthony Cagle, and Debra Kruger; sister, Jean Cross; and grandchildren, Nichole, Randi and Dalton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 7 p.m., Saturday at the W.L. Frye and Son Mortuary and Crematory, Olathe. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday before the service at the funeral home.
Earl Ashley
Earl Ashley, 90, of De Soto, KS, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Olathe Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave., De Soto, with burial at De Soto Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to De Soto Baptist Church, P.O. Box E, De Soto, KS 66018.
He was born Dec. 30, 1912, in Rich Hill, MO. Earl married Dorothy Duke March 5, 1940. They moved to De Soto, KS, in 1959 and bought the De Soto Grain Co. and owned and operated it until retirement in 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jim Boney of De Soto; two grandsons, Dustin Boney of De Soto and Justin and wife, Jana Boney, of Lamars, IA; sister-in-law, Wilma Schwander, of Butler, MO; stepbrother, Rex Arbogast, of Higginsville, MO; and his beloved cat, Sammy.
Georgie Athial
Georgie P. Athial, 23, Olathe, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, in Lawrence.
He was born Jan. 3, 1978, in India, living in Olathe the past 5 years. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas in Lawrence in 2001 with a bachelor's in degree in electronics. He was currently a student at KU, studying for his master's degree in electrical engineering.
He was attending Westside Church of the Nazarene in Olathe. He also taught Sunday School at the South Indian Prayer Group at College Church of the Nazarene, also in Olathe.
He is survived by his parents, Philipose John and Omana Philipose, of the home; two brothers, Johnson P. Athial, San Antonio, and Mathews Philip Athial, Olathe; his paternal grandmother, Saramma John, of India; and maternal grandmother, Kunjamma George, also of India.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 143rd and Black Bob Road, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rev. P.K. Zachariah Assistance Fund.
Rose Pauline Cordell Atwood
Rose Pauline Cordell Atwood, 80, of Olathe, KS, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Olathe Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Overland Park, KS, and was a graduate of Shawnee Mission High School. She was raised in Lawrence and Shawnee, KS. After marrying in 1941, Pauline moved to Gardner. She moved from Gardner to Olathe 20 years ago. She was assistant city clerk in Gardner for 10 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gardner and loved her family and her home.
Pauline was preceded in death by her first husband, Vorden "Pud" Cordell, who passed away in 1970, and her second husband, Harvey Atwood, who passed away in 1985. Also preceding her in death were her parents, William Henry Wiggins and Myrtle Mae Cavanaugh Wiggins; a daughter, Dale Jeanne Porter; a son, Jerry Cordell; sisters, LaVerna Langdon and Margaret Duncan; and brothers, Oren Wiggins and William "Bud" Wiggins.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ann and husband John R. James, Lenexa; sisters, Evelyn Marquardt, Olathe, Chloetta Cordell, Gardner, and Georgia Granger, Shawnee; brother, Ed Wiggins, Gardner; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Monday, July 7, 10:30 a.m., at Gardner Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, (913) 856-7111. Sam L. Atwell, 71, Louisburg, KS, died Sunday, March 31, 2002. Among his survivors is his wife Shirley, a daughter, four sons, 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two brothers. Nelson Powell Ayres, 89, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Gardner, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Naomi Lightfoot, of Larned, Kan.; a daughter, Wanda Epperson, of Independence, Mo.; a son, Nelson Douglas Ayres, of Parker, Colo.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Lucy Willamena Ayers, 93, of Olathe, KS, passed away at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Olathe Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003. She had lived in Olathe since 1991, coming from Lima, OH, where she lived most of her life. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lima.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest W. Ayers; two brothers, Albert N. Hammell and Roy H. Hammell; and a sister, Ethel C. Dew.
She leaves a son, Roger and wife Dianne Ayers of Olathe; grandchildren, Frederick L. Ayers and Michelle I. Swanson; a great-grandson, Marshall B. Swanson; and nieces and nephews.
Paul D. Austin

Paul was born Oct. 19, 1962, in Fort Scott, KS, living in the Johnson County, KS, area most of his life.
He was maintenance manager for Wyncroft Hill Apartments for the past five years.
He leaves his wife, Mary Austin, of the home; a son, Trenton Carl Austin, of Oklahoma; parents, Carl and Jone Austin of Oskaloosa, KS; a brother, Dennis C. Austin of Ozawkie, KS; two sisters, Terri J. Coughlin and Tracy A. Lee, both of Oskaloosa, KS; a stepson, Michael A. Coughlin of Olathe; a stepdaughter, Amanda C. Baker of Olathe; a grandson, Draven Baker; and a granddaughter, Keayla Baker.
