Erin Janene Hanken, daughter of Don and Cathy Hanken of Larned, and Troy Scott Auman, son of Bill and Vicky Auman of Hays, were united in marriage on June 4, 2005 at Grace Lutheran Church in Larned. Pastor Richard Boyer officiated the ceremony. The bride, escorted by her father, wore an ivory satin gown by Casablanca. The cross-pleated bodice was adorned with silver embroidery and crystal beading. The floor-length skirt fell away into a chapel train also adorned with silver embroidery and crystal beading. Renee Martin fashioned the bride’s veil. A hand-tied bouquet of yellow orchids and Leonardis roses completed the bride’s ensemble. The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Sarah Shaughnessy of Topeka. Bridesmaids were April Bilbrey of Emporia and sister of the groom, D. C. Hackerott of Manhattan. They wore tea-length gowns of burgundy chiffon over yellow satin and carried handtied bouquets of yellow orchids, yellow alstroemeria, Leonardis roses and bells of Ireland. The best man was Eric Springer of Lee’s Summit, Mo. Groomsmen were John Sides of Olsberg and Ryan Carlin of Manhattan. The groom was dressed in a formal black tuxedo with ivory vest tie. The groomsmen were dressed in formal black tuxedos with burgundy vests and ties. Taperslighter was Katie Fox. Ushers were brother-in-law of the groom, Ryan Shaughnessy of Topeka, and Jim Neff of Wamego. Musicians were Pat Springer, organist; Creighton Olsen, trumpeter; Kim Vratil, violinist; Abby Schartz, flautist, who played “Pavane,” “Canon in D,” “Trumpet Voluntary,” “Allegro Maestoso” as well as other offerings. Melanie Ryan, vocalist, sang “Love Never Fails,” “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” The bride graduated from Kansas State University and is employed with Manhattan Surgical Center in Manhattan. The groom graduated from Kansas State University and is an art teacher with Manhattan Catholic Schools and is the owner of ATA Black Belt Academies in Manhattan, Wamego and Salina. The couple resides in Manhattan.
