Valerie Rose and Stefan Bird of La Quinta, Cal., were united in marriage on May 28, 2005 at the "Hideaway" Golf Club in La Quinta, Calif. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Ronda Conner. Parents of the couple are Richard and Irene Boaz of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Ted and Ingrid Bird of Albert. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full-length ivory silk gown designed by Galina. The gown had a form-fitted bodice with a delicate lace back, beaded with tiny pearls followed by a trumpet skirt with ivory, silk buttons. Her headpiece consisted of a single veil adorned with tiny pearls and a head wreath made of ivory clay flowers and pearls. Her bridal bouquet was made from “hot princess” pink and champagne roses intermingled with hot pink and cream-colored freesia. For something borrowed, the bride wore her sister-in-law, Carolyn Bird’s, gorgeous single black Tahitian pearl and for something old and something blue, the bride was given an Irish linen handkerchief embroidered with delicate blue flowers by her dear friend Ann Lawlor. The handkerchief was originally given to Ann by her great-grandmother. Catherine Fletes of Monterey, Calif., served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Carolyn Bird, sister of the groom, of Boulder, Colo., and Tanja Searcy, niece of the bride, of Moreno Valley. The bridesmaids wore tea-length silk Georgette tiered dresses in fuchsia with bouquets of champagne-colored roses and cream-colored freesia. Thomas Bird, brother of the groom, of Colorado Springs, served as the best man. The groomsmen were Phil West of Houston, Texas, and Steve Boaz, brother of the bride, of Moreno Valley. The groomsmen also served as ushers. Ring bearer was Riley Boaz, nephew of the bride, of Moreno Valley. Holding the train of the bride’s gown was Sam Bird, son of Thomas and Gah Bird of Colorado Springs, Colo. The soloist was the Rev. Dan Perkins of La Quinta, Calif. The groom is a graduate of Great Bend High School and Kansas State University with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He is the president of CALEnergy Operating Corporation in Calipatria, Calif. The bride attended New York University, receiving her bachelor of science degree in business finance at the University of San Francisco. She is a licensed real estate agent in La Quinta and is employed by California Lifestyle Realtors. The couple makes their home in La Quinta.
