Heather L. Davis and David H. Smith were married on May 21, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend. The Rev. Gary Brooks officiated the double-ring ceremony. Parents of the couple are Randy and Sandra Smith of Great Bend and Michael and Debbie Davis of Hoisington. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a satin, off-the-shoulder A-line gown with beautiful lace accents and a cathedral train. Her elbow-length veil with scalloped edges and crystals was attached to a tiara highlighted with crystals and rhinestone. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of large red roses, blue roses and white ribbon. Shellie Peiffer of Palestine, Texas, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Annetta Mermis of Larned, Jessica Khalil (Ray) of Boston, Mass., and Michelle Davis of Great Bend. They wore candy-apple red floor-length gowns and carried hand-tied bouquets of red roses and an assortment of miniature white and blue roses. Lloyd Lewis III of Great Bend, served as best man. The groomsmen were David Paden of Great Bend, Travis Davis of Hoisington and Brad Patzner of Great Bend. They all wore traditional black tuxedos with matching American flag cummerbunds and bow ties. The flower girl was Kaycee Smith; the ring bearer was Dylan Paden, both of Great Bend; taperlighters were Kenda Smith of Great Bend and Shelby Littrell of Hoisington. The music was provided by vocalist Thomas Fischer of Great Bend. The bride is a graduate of Barton County Community College with an associate’s degree in criminal justice. She is currently employed as a police officer at the Great Bend Police Department. The groom is a graduate of Barton County Community College with an associate’s degree in criminal justice and a graduate of National College with a bachelor’s degree in business. He is currently employed as a patrol sergeant at the Barton County Sheriff’s Office. The couple and their children make their home in Great Bend.
