Chelsea Rose Doonan of Westmoreland and Christopher Courtland Coon of Wamego were united in marriage on April 28, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church in a double-ring ceremony, officiated by Kevin Ingram of Manhattan. Parents of the couple are Warren and Jeanne Doonan of Great Bend and Mike and Carol Coon of Wamego. Grandparents of the bride are Wendell and Mary Jane Doonan of Great Bend. Grandmother of the groom is Margene Pageler of Wamego.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a Valerie Couture by Moonlight strapless A-line gown with a fitted, dropped-waist bodice. The gown was of ivory Italian satin accented by cultured pearls, sequins and Swarovski crystals on the bodice and running the length of the train. Her fingertip veil was held by a crystal tiara. She carried a bouquet of red roses, pink lilies and white stephanotis.
The bride's attendants were Crystal Schroeder of Great Bend; Lori Doonan, sister-in-law of the bride, of Cleveland, Ohio; Lyndsay Doonan, sister-in-law of the bride, of Fort Smith, Ark.; Megan Romine and Amanda Garrett both of Manhattan; Krista Farrell, sister of the groom, of Salina; and Tara Olsen of Lawrence. They wore red, strapless, tea-length gowns with a looped ivory sash and carried bouquets of red, white and pink roses.
Best man was Toby Hendricks of Alta Vista. Groomsmen were Sam Stutzman of Lincoln, Neb.; Jarrod Doonan, brother of the bride, of Fort Smith; Ryan Almes and Heath Major, both of Manhattan; Paul Farrell of Salina; and Brian Blume of Wamego.
Flower girl was Harley Dougherty of Great Bend. Brendyn Schroeder of Great Bend was the ring bearer. Candlelighters were Zach Farrell and Mason Farrell, nephews of the groom. Music was provided by the Topeka String Quartet and vocalists were Jarrod and Lyndsay Doonan.
The bride is a 2006 graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in family studies and human services. She is employed by Baystone Financial Group in Manhattan.
Chris is a graduate of Hutchinson Community College with a degree in fire science. He is employed with the city of Manhattan as a firefighter.
The couple reside in Westmoreland.
