Andrea Jacobs and Jeremy Long were united in marriage on Jan. 6, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood. Merlyn Lohrke officiated the double-ring ceremony. The bride’s parents are Raymond and Marsha Jacobs of Great Bend and the groom’s parents are Rob and Teresa Long of Great Bend. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose an ivory, strapless dress with a bodice decorated heavily with regal bead work. The rounded waistline was accented by a beaded band that matched the sweetheart neckline. Halfbox pleats at the gown’s front and back gave fullness to the skirt. Floral embroidery and beadwork decorated the semi-cathedral train and continued up to the waistline at the back of the skirt. She wore a shoulder-length, two-tier ivory veil decorated with small crystals and a tiara of rhinestones. She wore an antique bracelet of her late grandmother’s and carried a satin, braided hand-tied bouquet of eggplant and ivory roses sprinkled with crystals. Maid of honor was Teresa Berens of Manhattan. Bridesmaids were Robyn Knop, sister of the groom of Ellinwood and Marissa Day of Great Bend. They wore eggplant, strapless gowns with beading decorating the top of the bodice and the same accents at the waistline. They carried ivory roses with accents of eggplant tea roses. The best man was Heath Bowman of Lawrence. Groomsmen and ushers were D. J. Knop, brother-in-law of the groom of Ellinwood, and Sean Hay of Ontario, Canada. Vocalist was Shelly Ramsey. The bride received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kansas State University and will graduate in May from Emporia State University with a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling. The groom earned an associate of science degree from Barton County Community College and an associate of business degree from San Diego Golf Academy. He is a department manager with Wal-Mart in Emporia. The couple reside in Emporia.
