Karla Lea Henderson and Suresh Bahadur Maharjan were united in marriage on Dec. 16, 2006 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Great Bend. Doyle Smith officiated the double-ring ceremony. Parents of the bride are Howard Henderson and the late Virginia Henderson. Parents of the groom are the late Asta Lal and the late Gani Maharjan. Given in marriage by her father and family, the bride wore an A-line gown designed by Oleg Cassini with a chapel-length train, with caviar beading on bodice and in double-band trim on the skirt and train. She wore a two-tier fingertip-length veil with corded edge and crystal detail held by a crystal and pearl headband. She carried a bouquet of white roses, stephanotis, lily of the valley, freesia, pearls and one ice blue rose in memory of her mother. Maid of honor was Elizabeth Hughes of North Dighton, Mass. Bridesmaids were Sarah Landwehr of Kansas City and Karla Hoover of Salina. Bridesmaids wore gowns of blue satin skirts and blue tops with a silver brocade pattern. They carried bouquets of white roses, stephanotis and white hydrangea. Best man was Edwin Rey of Littleton, Colo. Groomsmen were Oliver Tran of Aurora, Colo., and Doug Disque of Great Bend. Ushers were Christopher Caruthers of the USS Safeguard in Japan, cousin of the bride, and D.J. Henderson of Woodward, Okla., nephew of the bride. Flower girl was Jessica Disque of Great Bend, niece of the bride. Taper lighters were Malia Disque of Great Bend, niece of the bride, and Sarah Donahoe, San Antonio, Texas, cousin of the bride. Organist was Don Reghr of Great Bend. Vocalists were Mark Hoover of Salina and Glenna Gaunt of Great Bend, friends of the bride. Pianist was JoAnn Gaunt of Great Bend, niece of the bride. The bride is a graduate of Emporia State University with a bachelor of science in business management. She is currently completing the physician assistant program and master’s in medical science at St. Francis University. The groom is a graduate of Metro State University with a degree in computer information systems and a graduate of Regis University with a master’s in computer information systems. The couple reside in Wheat Ridge, Colo.
