Joni Mae Soukup and Jeremy David Burkhart were married on Oct. 29, 2005 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson. The Rev. David Metz officiated the double-ring ceremony. Parents of the couple are James and Carolyn Soukup of Wilson and Gerald and Rose Ann Burkhart of Great Bend. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an ivory gown by Anjolique. The strapless chiffon-over-satin dress had a corset back. The A-line gown featured embroidery accented with crystals and beading along the neckline and hemline and chapel-length train. She also wore a pearl and crystal headpiece, along with a chapel-length veil accented with crystals and rhinestones. The bride’s bouquet consisted of red and orange roses with yellow calla lilies. Rose Soukup of Lenexa served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Corie Soukup of Wilson, Jeannie Habbart of Manhattan, April Reed of Hays and Anjie Weidman of Wichita. The bridesmaids wore chocolate-brown strapless organza gowns with lace-up backs. They carried bouquets of red, orange and ivory roses. Bryan Mermis of Great Bend served as the best man. The groomsmen were Joe Soukup of Wilson, Trenton Green of Overland Park, Brandon Green of Overland Park and Nathan Oborny of Lawrence. Tristan Soukup of Wilson was the ring bearer. Music was provided by Myrene Soukup of Wilson, organist, and Trenton and Bonny Green, vocalists of Overland Park. The bride received her Bachelor of Science degree from Fort Hays State University and certificate in radiation therapy from Washburn University. She is a radiation therapist in Olathe. The groom is a graduate of Fort Hays State University and is the wholesale manager for Lukas Liquor in Overland Park. The couple makes their home in Overland Park.
