Kelsey Marie Garrett and Todd Alien Scheuerman were united in marriage on July 29, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend. The Rev. Gary Brooks and the Rev. William Johnson officiated the double-ring ceremony. Parents of the couple are Rick and Karen Garrett and Clifford and Lynne Scheuerman, all of Great Bend. Grandparents of the bride are Mark and Marjorie Garrett of Great Bend and the late Marvin and Evelyn Kroeker. Grandparents of the groom are Bud and Violet Black of Great Bend, Hazel Scheuerman of Ellinwood and the late Glen Scheuerman. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white strapless gown with a split-back and organza inset with metallic embroidered lace on both the bodice and skirt. She wore a silver-casted metallic scroll tiara with pearls and rhinestones, and a white two-ier corded edge-veil with scattered rhinestones. She carried a wildflower bouquet, which contained raspberry Gerber daisies, white stephanotis, yellow freesia, white daisies, accented with tree fern greenery in a satin-wrapped handle. Maid of honor was Jenny Sorahan of Grand Island, Neb. Bridesmaids were Lisa Bahr of Great Bend, Amanda Garrett, sister-in-law of the bride, of Lincoln, Neb., and Annie Parker of Miami, Okla. They wore periwinkle satin, strapless ballgowns and carried wildflower bouquets similar to the bride’s, containing raspberry Gerber daisies, yellow freesia, golden aster, and white daisies in a satin-wrapped handle. The bride’s personal attendant was Nickie Ochs of Great Bend. Best man was Brandon Purdy of Hays. Groomsmen were Chris Scheuerman of Wichita, brother of the groom, Chris Curtright of Salina, brother-in-law of the groom, and James Carter II of Kansas City. Candle lighters were Alex and Ashley Medina of Sand Springs, Okla., cousins of the groom. Ring bearer was Andrew Curtright of Salina, nephew of the groom. Ushers were Brandon Garrett of Lincoln, Neb., and Logan Garrett of Great Bend, brothers of the bride, Ryan Desemo of Lawrence, and Alan McFann of Lee’s Summit, Mo. Music was provided by Jenny Allford, pianist, Marc Webster, trumpeter, and Lori Underwood, vocalist, all of Great Bend. The bride is a 2001 graduate of Great Bend High School and a 2005 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She is employed by USD 428 in Great Bend as a fifth-grade teacher at Riley Elementary. The groom is a 2001 graduate of Great Bend High School and is currently pursuing degrees in philosophy and social work at Fort Hays State University. He is employed by Dillons in Great Bend. The couple reside in Great Bend.
