Kelsey Briggs Smith and Jason Don Perry were united in marriage on July 7, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend. The Rev. James Strasse officiated the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dr. Perry and Krista Smith of Great Bend. The groom is the son of Karen Perry-Hayes and the late E. Dale Perry. The bride’s grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Smith of Inman, Patricia Schmidt of Great Bend and the late Eugene Schmidt. The groom’s grandparents at Stephanie Cain and the late B. Don Cain. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an elegant oyster matte-satin gown designed by Maggie Sottero in a princess silhouette, featuring a strapless neck line with a delicately beaded motif across the bodice. The A-line skirt swept from a modified wrapped waist detail into its own beaded chapel train. A crystal and rhinestone tiara held her fingertip-length bridal illusion veil. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of red, pink, orange and green calla lilies and roses. Maid of honor was Stacie Kruse of Bel Aire. Bridesmaids were Tara (Malone) Pool of Kansas City, Mo., Jenny Urban of Bel Aire and Jenny Brown of Hazzard, Neb. The bridal attendants chose black matte-satin tea-length gowns designed in a strapless empire silhouette accented with ivory satin piping at the top and midriff. They each carried a single calla lily and rose in the bridal colors of pink, red and orange. The best man was Michael Perry, brother of the groom, of Great Bend. Groomsmen were Adam Sciacca, Jeff Lutt and Aaron Spanier, all of Great Bend. Flower girls were Logan Lord, Great Bend, and Alt Burkhart, Norman, Okla. They wore tea-length gowns of light green accented with pink roses. Ring bearers were Logan and Chance Perry, nephews of the groom, of Great Bend. The taper lighters were Rachel and Nellie Bettis, nieces of the groom, of Great Bend. They wore similar dresses to the bridesmaids’, in tea rose. Ushers were Mason Smith, brother of the bride, of Lawrence, Joe Burger of Des Moines, Iowa, Steve Cain, and Chris Cain, cousins of the groom, both of Great Bend. Jenny Alford, of Great Bend, provided piano accompaniment and Ali Guthmiller, of Plano, Texas, was vocal soloist. Personal attendants to the bride were Abby (Guthmiller) Thompson, of Parsons, and Teresa Malone, of Great Bend. The bride is a graduate of Great Bend High School, Barton County Community College and Fort Hays State University. She is an elementary teacher for USD 428 and Great Bend High School coach for junior varsity volleyball, basketball and softball. The groom is a graduate of Great Bend High School. He attended Barton County Community College and is a graduate of Kansas State University. He is an elementary teacher for USD 428 and Great Bend Middle School football coach, and assistant Great Bend High School softball coach. The couple reside in Great Bend.
