Hiss 50th
Lawrence and Elinor Hiss of Ellinwood will celebrate their 50th anniversary with an open house and reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 26, 2006 at the Lutheran Youth Center, 5th and Wilhelm in Ellinwood.
Lawrence Hiss and Elinor Bryant were married on Aug. 26, 1956, in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood.
Lawrence is a semi-retired farmer and Elinor is a retired clerk from the Rice County Appraisers Office.
Hosts for the event are their children and spouses: Rick and Sharon Hiss of Great Bend and DeAnn and Alan Hauser of Humboldt.
The couple has three granddaughters.
They request no gifts.
Younkin 60th
Merrill and Dorothy celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 30, 2006 at the Edmonds Conference Center in Edmonds, Wash., with a buffet reception.
They were joined by family and friends.
Merrill and Dorothy were married on Dec. 22, 1946, in Great Bend.
They moved to Edmonds in 1968.
Merrill was director of industrial engineering of commercial airplanes for Boeing in Seattle until he retired in 1987.
He is the brother of Mrs. Pat Baxter and Mrs. Frances Fox of Great Bend.
The couple have two children, Keith and Jayne who also reside in Edmonds.
Mai 50th
Howard and Joetta Mai will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 19, 2006 at the VFW Hall in Russell.
Social hour will begin at 4 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., with a reception to follow.
The event will be hosted by their children, Mona Grady, Michelle Clark and husband Jeff Clark; and grandchildren Jerrod Mai and wife Kelli, Brett Mai, Kayla Mai, Kaitlyn Clark and Caleb Clark. Friends and relatives are invited.
They request no gifts.
Howard Mai and Joetta Nuss were married in Russell on Aug. 19, 1956, at the American Lutheran Church in Milberger.
