Langston - 50th
Bobby and Ellen Langston of Holyrood will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. on July 2, 2005 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 301 E. Nassau in Holyrood.
Bobby Langston and Ellen Fortner were married on July 2, 1955, at St. Paul’s U.C.C. in Holyrood.
Mr. Langston worked in the oilfield for many years before he moved to Ellinwood and became the manager for Doonan Farms in 1975.
He moved back to Holyrood and managed the Ellsworth Co-op service station until he retired.
Mrs. Langston was co-owner of the Little Chef in Holyrood.
She worked in the food service department at Holyrood and Great Bend school districts.
She then became a beauty operator and worked at JC Penney before opening her own salon in Holyrood.
She is now enjoying retirement too.
The open house will be hosted by their children and grandchildren.
Their children are: Roger and Brenda Langston and Robie Lamia of Holyrood.
The couple also has seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
All friends and family are encouraged to come by and visit.
The honorees request no gifts.
Paden - 40th
Don and Beth White Paden were united in marriage June 19, 1965 at Crestview Christian Church in Manhattan.
Mr. Paden is minister at the Pawnee Rock Christian Church and a sales associate for Wal-Mart.
Mrs. Paden is a secretary for the First Church of the Nazarene.
The children arranged for the best man from their wedding, Paul Baker, and his wife from Maple Hill and one of the bridesmaids, Bonnie O'Neal, and her husband, Dwayne, from Wichita to attend.
Beth's maid of honor, Marty Komo, passed away in January of this year.
Beth's cousin and her husband, Darca and Ron Ridley, Milford, and Don's cousin and wife, Jerry and Kaye Paden, were also present for this celebration, as well as the wedding in 1965.
Wilson - 50th
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd E. Wilson are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on June 19, 2005.
Floyd E. and the former Nancy R. Mayse were married on June 19, 1955, in La Crosse.
Mr. Wilson retired as a mechanic from Parrish Motor and Sankos, both in Great Bend.
Mrs. Wilson retired from USD 428.
A gathering with family was held June 12 at the Highland Hotel in Great Bend.
