Lichter - 50th
Alvin and Marietta Lichter of Olmitz will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 31, 2005.
The couple will be celebrating with a family dinner.
Alvin Lichter and Marietta Ohnmacht were married Aug. 31, 1955, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Olmitz with Msgr. A.L. Meyers officiating.
The couple have three children: Terry Lichter of Great Bend; Brenda and Jerry Dreiling of Pfeifer; and Lynn and Kyle Lichter of Topeka.
The couple also has six grandchildren: Andrew, Erin and Brett Lichter of Topeka and Isaac, Noah and Wyatt Dreiling of Pfeifer.
The couple will celebrate with a trip at a later date.
Whittaker - 50th
Robert (Bob) and Arleen Smith Whittaker were married at the Christian Church in Great Bend on Sept. 2, 1955.
Mr. Whittaker retired as Marmie Ford body shop manager. Mrs. Whittaker taught 36 years in Hoisington and Great Bend.
They celebrated their 50th anniversary with a trip to Colorado with their daughters and their families.
Their children are: Mike and Sheryl Butler of Hays; and Doug and Michelle Benoit of Esbon.
They have six grandchildren: Kelsey and Ashley Butler; McKenzie, Sydney, Thayne and Colby Benoit.
Barnes - 40th
Tom and Linda Barnes of Great Bend are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today.
Tom Barnes and the former Linda Ross were married Aug. 21, 1965, in Kansas City, Mo.
In 1970 the couple moved to Great Bend.
Mr. and Mrs. Barnes’ children will be hosting a gathering of family and friends in their honor.
The couple’s children and spouses are: Eric and Christy Kuhn and Steve and Kathy Kaiser.
They also have three grandchildren: Ashley Kuhn, Katelyn Kaiser and Cara Kaiser, all of Great Bend.
