Rziha - 40th
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rziha are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.
Leonard Rziha and the former Joan Morgenstern were married Aug. 21, 1965, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington.
Mr. Rziha is a retired postal worker from the Hoisington Post Office and a retired farmer of many years.
Mrs. Rziha is a homemaker and volunteers in various capacities through her church and community.
The couple’s children and spouses are: Michael Rziha of Topeka; Scott and Robin Rziha of Hoisington; and Gary and Krisgina Rziha of Great Bend.
The couple also has six grandchildren: Abigayle Rziha, Alex Rziha and Paul Rziha of Hoisington, and Brett McVey, Alexandra McVey, and Sahara Rziha of Great Bend.
Maddy - 50th
Carl and Dolores Maddy will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 28, 2005 with a family dinner in Hutchinson.
Carl Maddy and the former Dolores Bauer were married Aug. 28, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Dighton.
They lived in Great Bend during their marriage.
Mr. Maddy was an auxiliary fireman with the Great Bend Fire Department for 40 years.
He retired from the Kansas National Guard with 25 years of service.
Maddy worked in electrical wholesale for 35 years and at Barton County Community College for 10 years.
Mrs. Maddy worked in accounting part-time for 20 years.
The couple has four children: Steven Maddy and wife, Clairissa, of Wichita; Terri Kennard and husband, Randy, of Hutchinson; Michael Maddy of Bentley; and Lynette Schrepel and husband, Stephen, of Hoisington. They have eight grandchildren.
McAlexander - 60th
Mr. and Mrs. H. L. McAlexander will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 18, 2005.
The couple are graduates of Waldo High School. They were married on Aug. 18, 1945, in Paris, Texas, where Mr. McAlexander was completing basic training for the Army.
After their time in the service, which included duty in Kentucky, Virginia and Japan, the couple settled in Hoisington.
Until his retirement in 1989, Mr. McAlexander was a bricklayer and masonry contractor.
Mrs. McAlexander taught piano for more than 50 years and continues to serve as organist at First United Methodist Church.
The couple have two sons: K.C. and his wife, Suzanne, who live in Huntingtown, Md., and have three children, Caitrin, Noel, and Ian; and Dan and his wife, Celeste, who live in Brentwood, Tenn., and have two daughters, Anne and Alice.
