Lathrop - 50th
Arlyn and Connie Lathrop are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an open-house reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 23, 2005 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Great Bend. The couple will also renew their vows.
Arlyn Lathrop and Connie Stallings were married on Oct. 23, 1955, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Ellinwood.
They have spent their married lives in Barton and Stafford counties. Arlyn Lathrop is self-employed.
Hosting the reception are the couple’s children: Michael Lathrop of Aurora, Mo.; Leslye Carithers of Hutchinson; Carol Pauls of Mont-Clair, N.J.; and Angela Hill of Kansas City, Kan.
Grandchildren are Shawn Carithers and Chris Carithers, both of Hutchinson; and Catie Lathrop of Aurora.
Ahrens - 50th
William Wayne and Sue Ahrens of Ellinwood will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a come-and-go reception from 2 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 22, 2005 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 701 N. Fritz in Ellinwood.
William Wayne Ahrens and Sue Robbins were married Oct. 23, 1955, at the First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend.
He has farmed in the Ellinwood area and she is a homemaker.
The couple has five grandchildren.
Hosts for the occasion will be Jim and Judy Ahrens of Manhattan.

Wegele - 50th
Leland and Joyce Wegele of Otis will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at noon on Oct. 16, 2005 with a family dinner and reception from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 24th and Adams, Great Bend.
Leland Wegele and Joyce Karst were married Oct. 23, 1955, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger.
He is a retired farmer and she was co-owner of the Kitchen Cupboard.
Hosting the celebration will be their children: Richard Wegele of Tempe, Ariz., Paula and Steve Storm and Leann Wegele of Albert; and their grandchildren, Michael Gowans of Phoenix, Ariz., Morgan Wegele of Tempe and Sam and Kelly Storm of Holdrege, Neb.
