Weltmer - 40th
Prentice and Carol Weltmer of Great Bend will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary today. The couple will celebrate by taking a family vacation and cruise in the fall. Weltmer and the former Carol Koerner were married June 27, 1964, at Great Bend and have lived in Great Bend their entire marriage. He is employed at Dillons and she is retired from Town and Country Racquet Club. The couple has two daughters, Lori and son-in-law Monte Feck of Winfield and Janel and son-in-law Chris Unrein of Wichita. The couple has three grandchildren, Alicia, Garrett and Blake. Caruthers - 50th
Wayne and Shirley Caruthers celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends June 6, 2004 with a barbecue and reception. Caruthers and the former Shirley Ann Turner were married June 7, 1954, at the Methodist Church in Lyons. The couple has four children, Dennis Caruthers and wife, Patti, of San Antonio, Texas, Becky Doonan and husband, David, of Great Bend; Peg Stone and husband, Bradley, and Scott Caruthers and wife of Midland, Texas. The couple also has nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The Caruthers have retired to Geneseo after living most of their life in Great Bend.
Willesden - 25th
Bob and Dianne Willesden of Great Bend will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary July 3, 2004. An open house is planned for 2 to 4 p.m. on July 3 in the Burnside Room of Carl Soden Recreation Center in Great Bend. Willesden and the former Dianne Dolezal were married June 23, 1979, at Great Bend. He is employed by Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility and she is employed by Dr. Burkey of Great Bend and Carl Boxberger Oil. Hosts will be their children, Mark and Brandy Gaddis of Andover, David and Tiffany Nily of Great Bend and Robert and Andrea Willesden of Hoisington. The couple has 12 grandchildren.
