Steitz - 40th
Jim and Ruth Steitz celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Aug. 21, 2004. James Philip Steitz and Ruth Ellen Van Winkle were united in marriage on Aug. 21, 1964, at the Byers Methodist Church of Byers. Their children and grandchildren are Steve and Kim Kummer, Brad and Vicki Tucker, Bailee, Miranda and Cason; John and Brenda French, Brendan, Emilie, John Jr. and Natalie. They celebrated in May with a trip to Branson, Mo., for the U.S.S. Gurke Reunion.
Eveleigh - 50th
Bob Eveleigh of Galatia and Lorrayne Mills of Nekoma were married Aug. 24, 1954. They will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their family at their home, 2110 San Domingo, Great Bend. Bob concluded 55 years of farming and presently is an OTR trucker. Their daughter Michelle and husband, Scott, are maintaining the farm. Lorrayne will complete her 50th year of teaching at the end of the 2004- 2005 school term. The couple have two children; Todd Eveleigh and wife, Tina, of Olmitz and Michelle Temple and husband Scott, of Galatia. They have six grandchildren; Marine Pvt. Bob Eveleigh of Jacksonville, N.C., Katie Eveleigh of Lindsborg, Kayla Temple of Great Bend, Amber Beverly of Olmitz, Amanda Hejny of Great Bend, Melissa Morgan of Nebraska and two great-grandchildren, Andreas Hejny and Paige Morgan.
Hazen - 60th
Bernard (Buck) Hazen and Catherine Nienke were married on Aug. 16, 1944, in Stark. The couple resides in Holyrood where Bernard worked for Cities Service Oil Co. and Catherine is a homemaker. The couple has two children; Brenda Sue and husband Arlon Johnson of Goddard, Kenneth Ray and wife Nancy M. Hazen of Cunningham. They have five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
