Janzen - 50th
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Janzen of Lorraine will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2:30-4:30 p.m. May 4, 2003 at First Baptist Church of Lorraine. Janzen and the former Mildred Schindler were married May 2, 1953. He is a farmer and she is retired from Lorraine State Bank. The event will be hosted by their children and grandchildren. Their children are Karen and J. V. VanAllen of Clearwater, Kenton and Angie Janzen of Lorraine, Susan Bittel of Hays and Galen Janzen of Ellsworth. Their grandchildren are Annie, Katie, Christie, Elizabeth, Carlie and Ryan.
Birzer - 55th
Lawrence and Catherine Birzer of Ellinwood will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-4:30 p.m. on April 26, 2003 at St. Joseph’s Parish Center of Ellinwood. All relatives and friends are invited to attend. Hosting the event will be their children and their families, Melvin and Twila Birzer of Great Bend, Steve and Brenda Birzer and Connie and Keith Miller, all of Ellinwood, and Jane and Bob Carr of Edmond, Okla. The couple requests no gifts.
Fiala - 60th
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fiala of Bison will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2-4 p.m. on April 27, 2003 at Bison Community Building. Fiala and the former Thelma Shank were married on April 21, 1943, at Medford, Ore. Hosts for the occasion will be their daughter, Lorene Erb and her husband Jerry, and niece, Deanne Ficken. The couple request no gifts.
