Hembree - 50th
Robert F. and Phyllis M. Hembree of Ness City will observe and celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their four children and their spouses on a Caribbean Cruise: Fred and Sherry Hembree of Ness City, Robert and Diana Hembree of Garden City, Steven and Joy Hembree of Great Bend and Tena and Rod Wasinger of Wichita. Hembree and Phyllis M. Cory were married May 28, 1953, at Lyons. They established, owned and operated Hembree Well Service for 35 years and built, owned and operated the Derrick Inn for 13 years, in addition to other real estate and businesses in Ness City. The couple has 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Oberle - 50th
Victor and Mary Rose Oberle of Claflin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 14, 2003 with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their children are Patricia and David Schmidt, Raymond and Sandi Oberle, all of Claflin, and Christine and Quentin Robl of Salina. They have 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They were married April 14, 1953, at Holy Family Catholic Church of Odin by the Rev. Cornelius Leunissen.
Schuster - 50th
Carl and Virginia Schuster of Escondido, Calif., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 10, 2003 at Chandler, Ariz. Schuster and the former Virginia Meyeres were married May 10, 1953, at St. Rose Catholic Church of Great Bend. He was a 1949 Great Bend High School graduate and she was a 1950 GBHS graduate. It was hosted by their daughters and families: Chris and Brad Cesmat of Chandler; Carla and Kerry Morgan of Rocklin, Calif.; Carrie and Rob Sheffield and Cathy and George Guerrero, all of Escondido. They have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
