Hogan - 50th
Elmer and Faye Hogan of Garfield, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2-4:30 p.m. on June 1, 2003 at the Garfield Auditorium of Garfield. Hogan and the former Faye Wittig were married June 1, 1953, at Larned. Hosts for the reception will be their children and spouses, Nancy and Gary Lempka of Dodge City, Janet and Elmer Byer, Greg Hogan, all of Garfield, and Bev and Lee Gross of Hays. They have five grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. No gifts requested.
Bird - 50th
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bird will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2-4 p.m. on May 31, 2003 at First Southern Baptist Church of Larned. Bird and the former Jane Roberson were married May 24, 1953, at the First Methodist Church in Larned. He is retired from Larned State Hospital plumbing and maintenance shop. She is also retired from Larned State Hospital as a postal clerk. The reception will be hosted by their children, Rhonda Barrows and Janet Golightley, both of Topeka, and Janell Herzberg of Ozawkie. They have eight grandchildren, one deceased, and three great-grandchildren.
Smith - 50th
Mr. and Mrs. Peter D. Smith of Great Bend will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 1, 2003 with Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend. Smith and Mary Frances Welsh were married June 13, 1953, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Great Bend. A reception will be held in their honor from 4 to 6 p.m. June 1 at The Club at StoneRidge. Hosts will be their children, David Smith of Pawnee Rock, Liz and Kyle Schartz, Mark and Dayna Smith, and Craig and Kari Smith, all of Great Bend, and Larry Smith of Wichita; and 13 grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts.
