Schneweis - 50th
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Schneweis of Claflin, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mass in their honor at 2 p.m. on May 31, 2003 at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with a reception to follow at the St. Rose Parish Center. Bernard and the former Dolores Hoffman were married May 27, 1953, at the church in Great Bend. Schneweis served in the U.S. Army after which he was employed by the Claflin Flour Mill, Marlette Mobile Homes and finally Rice Engineering and retired in 1992. Dolores is a homemaker. Their children and grandchildren will be hosting the event. Their children are Leon and Cinda Schneweis of Lawrence, Richard and Debbie Schneweis of Claflin, Mark and Mia Schneweis of Fallon, Nev., Alan and Susan Schneweis of Ellinwood, Paul and Renee Schneweis of Great Bend, Tony and Robin Schneweis of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Michael Schneweis of Great Bend. They have 21 grandchildren: Rachael and Brian Terkelson, Nathan and Phillip Schnew eis, Fred and Becky Huddleston, Cindy and Quentin Morris, Jonathan, Matthew and Angela Schneweis, Nathan, Jeremiah and Micah Manning, Travis, Erin and Bryce Schneweis, Rian and Steiner Schneweis, Curtis and Cierra Schneweis. They have four great grandchildren: Naomi, Elliott, Donnell and Tristen. Stalcup - 50th
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stalcup of Great Bend celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 9, 2003 with a family dinner at Bunker Hill with a family vacation planned for this summer. Stalcup and Mary Katheryn “Pollie” Clevenger were married May 9, 1953, at Great Bend. Their children are Kevin and Diane Stalcup, Richard and Kristy Stalcup and Pollie and Kevin “Gil” Unruh, all of Great Bend, and Gia and Pat Scott of Victoria. The couple has 10 grandchildren, Barry and Daphne Stalcup, Kelli Stalcup, Matt Stalcup, Amy Folkerts, Cade Scott, Ashly Dirks, Taree Dirks, Kaley Auston, MacKenzie Unruh and Madison Unruh. Stalcup has been self-employed in the farming and oil industry. They have been lifelong residents of Barton and Stafford counties. Sellens - 65th
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sellens of the Hoisington and Great Bend area will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on May 28, 2003. Sellens and Berdena Bangerter were married May 28 ,1938, at Hoisington. Sellens was employed by Murdy Motors and she was the secretary for the First United Methodist Church before retiring. They will be celebrating with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at an anniversary brunch. Hosting the occasion are Roger and Judy Harmon of Houston, Texas, Jim and Sharon Sellens of Anchorage, Alaska, Gordon and Janice Westrum of Monument, Colo., Mike and Jolene Boys of Great Bend and Steve and Jayne Klir of Denton, Texas. Their grandchildren are Mark, Anita and Ryan Harmon, Wendy, Adam and Rachel Sellens, Amanda Panos, and Greg, Chris and Dalila Boys. Great-grandchildren include Dillon, Saoirse, Alexis, Camron, Chelesa and Caleb.
