Miller - 50th
Mr. and Mrs. Virgel Miller of La Crosse, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a brunch from 10:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 25, 2003 at the La Crosse United Methodist Church. Hosting the occasion will be their three daughters: Kay Boyd of Great Bend, Renee Nicholson of Hoisington and Teresa Beckman of Wichita, and their families. Miller and the former Kathryn Jones were married on May 23,1953, at the Gorham Community Church at Gorham. He was president of Miller Homes, a general agent for a life insurance company and a farmer before his retirement. She is a retired real estate broker, an income tax preparer, a teacher and a homemaker. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the celebration. Margheim - 50th
Leonard and Marcie Margheim of Derby, formerly of Great Bend, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on May 25, 2003 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 600 North Greenwich, of Wichita. Margheim and the former Marceleen Manke were married June 14, 1953, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Holyrood. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War after which he was employed with Lane-Wells and Dresser Atlas as a Sr. Log Analyst. He retired in 1998 after working 48 years and she is a homemaker. Their children and grandchildren will be hosting the event. Their children are Paul Margheim and wife Debra of Andover, Patricia Edwards and husband Robert of Mulvane and Lois Sukolics and husband David of Overland Park; and nine grandchildren: Nicole, Mollye, and Jacob Margheim, Jennifer and Adam Edwards, Amanda, Rebekah, Hannah and August Sukolics. Birzer - 65th
Mr. and Mrs. Martin B. Birzer will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. May 25, 2003 at Holy Cross Catholic Church School gym, 26th and Plum, Hutchinson. Birzer and Mary J. Prosser were married May 17, 1938, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Odin. Hosts will be their children, Diane McKinney and Barbara Kostner, both of Lakewood, Colo., Gary Birzer of Des Moines, Iowa, and Glenn Birzer of Hutchinson. Birzer and his wife have lived in Hutchinson for 50 years. He is a retired union painter and she worked for Dillons for over 20 years. The couple has 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
