Grose - 50th
Alvin “Al” and Delores Grose will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2-4 p.m. June 14, 2003 at Great Bend Recreation Center, 1214 Stone. Family and friends are invited to attend. Grose and the former Delores Bieber were married June 14, 1953, at First United Methodist Church of Bazine. He is retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She is a homemaker. Hosts for the reception will be their children and families. Pam and Rod Smith of Sterling, Cindy and Chuck Putters of Peachtree City, Ga., and Bruce and Pattie Grose of Colorado Springs, Colo. They have seven grandchildren. They are Emma, Lydia and Maria Smith, Courtney and Chelcee Putters and Emmy Jo and Nolan Grose. The couple requests no gifts.
Weightman - 65th
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Weightman will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. June 14, 2003 at Great Bend Senior Center. Weightman and the former Norma Eggers were married June 19, 1938, at St. Paul’s Church of Holyrood. The event will be hosted by their children, Ray and Marsha Jacobs of Great Bend, Steve and Marva Miller of Hays and Don and Claudia Weightman of Loveland, Colo. Their grandchildren are Andrea Jacobs of Great Bend, Kristen Weightman and Brian Weightman of Loveland, and Kelly Miller and Holly Miller of Denver, and Angie Reynolds and Gerry Reynolds of Denver. They have one great grandchild, Jonathan Miller of Denver. The couple requests no gifts.
Murphy - 50th
Mike and Rose Murphy of Great Bend will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house beginning at 7:30 p.m. and a dance to follow Aug. 2, 2003 at Great Bend Elks Club. Hosts will be their children and spouses, Sheryl Gross, Jim and Loretta Murphy, and Kevin Murphy, all of Great Bend; and Marty and Kathy Murphy and Laura Murphy of Denver, Colo.; and their grand children Geoffrey Gross of Chicago, Ill., Paige and Caden Murphy of Denver, and Garret and Becca Gross, Madison and Dalton Murphy, Anna, Andrew, and Adam Murphy, all of Great Bend. Mike Murphy and the former former Rose Koester were married July 27, 1953, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Great Bend. Friends and family are invited to attend. No gifts please.
