Cravens - 25th
Art and LaRea Cravens of Great Bend will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary Aug. 5, 2003. The couple was married Aug. 5, 1978. To celebrate this occasion the couple has planned a special time Aug. 9 for family and friends to come and share. Zimmerman - 50th
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Zimmerman of Great Bend will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 28, 2003. Zimmerman and Zita Basgall were married Sept. 28, 1953, at St. Michael Church in La Crosse. They have four children, Kathy Sutherland of Longmont, Calif., Tim Zimmerman of Colusa, Calif., Debie Koehn of Cookeville, Tenn., and Paul Zimmerman of Haysville. The couple has 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Due to illness there will be no celebration but cards of appreciation may be sent to the couple at 723 Madison St., Great Bend KS 67530.
Henre - 50th
Bob and Veramae Henre of Great Bend will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 4, 2003. In lieu of a party or gifts, the couple has requested a card shower. Cards and letters of congratulations may be sent to Bob and Veramae Henre, 1720 Lincoln, Great Bend KS 67530. Henre and the former Veramae Boxberger were married Oct. 4, 1953, in a candlelight ceremony at St. John Lutheran Church in Russell. Both are graduates of Russell High School and have been residents of Great Bend since 1961, coming from Hoisington. Henre served in the Japanese occupation forces in the U.S. Army following World War II and later graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 1952. He served as a pharmacist in Beloit, Hoisington, and Zarah Prescription Shop in Great Bend from 1958-1984, when he sold it and went to work for the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy, as an inspector. He retired in 1994. Since then he has kept active as a woodcarver. Veramae worked as a bookkeeper for Henre and Wilhelm Motor Company in Russell and as a teller at Russell State Bank. She is active in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and woman’s church group and as a volunteer at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. The couple have two children, Dianne Henre Lance of Olathe and Roger Henre of Wichita. They also have two grandchildren.
